   I don't believe in predestination.  I also don't believe that we are able to completely control our destiny.  You can influence it through preparation and hard work, but some things are still controlled by chance.

   I believe there is a line between: I was told that some things will happen in my future as a teenager, and may be that influenced me to make the wrong choices. I believe you can make the best of anything.
   I have been told about my love life, about my career and for now some has been true, some is still to be discovered but I won't waste my time waiting for fortune around the corner, the lesson I have learned is that my life changed once I changed my way to see, understand, manage, handle, live, express and relate.
   This is how you are, live and build your life.
   Destiny will mean that you are just a piece in a puzzle that somebody else is putting together or not, who is God according to some or else...that way to take power away from human beings has been the leaders way (religious, political and more) to control humans. We should all sit home since birth and wait... nopE let's live and accept our RESPONSIBILITY.

   I think we each make our own destiny, sometimes circumstances that are out of our hands, even sheer luck, may influence a bit, but the choice we make and the road we decide to take makes all the difference in the end. So, I think it's up to us, it's in our hands.

   I think it is a combination of the two. Everyone has different gifts. These gifts are realized and developed as we walk out our destiny. As mentioned, free will has an effect on our destiny. I believe it is possible to walk away from our destiny. When our will and destiny are in line, then we may have the most success. However, like a boat at sea, there is wind, weather, swell direction and current acting on our course.

    I think that it is a combination of both.  We are born into our circumstances and without the exercise of free will, choice and determination, we will follow a certain and predictable path in our lives.  That is a destiny that is predetermined.  But we can not choose the path of least resistance, and choose to fight and rise above our circumstances.  That is making our own destiny.

    There will always be a predetermined destiny.
    
    But we can make our own destiny if we choose to do so.
    
    Example: If you are destined to marry someone named A but you decide against it and marry B instead. This will be changing your own destiny.
    
    This is normally done for those who apply Feng Shui by changing their destiny.

    a little of both...I think some things are pre'destined'...meant to be, inescapable..the road you are to have traveled. i definitely believe that i have been destined to meet so many wonderfully caring individuals, sincerely caring, that have made a huge difference in my life.
    but i do believe that in my case that certain choices i have made have created the destiny that i now have...

    I believe that it is both. We clearly have free will in many matters. But I am certain that what will be will be, to a large degree because of the choices we are going to make. Does that make sense? I see it as an extension of the Biblical debate about the coexistence of God's sovereign will and man's free agency. I believe that God already knows all of our choices that ever will be, and His sovereign will can incorporate our free choices into His design, but again, we clearly have free agency, which is absolutely proven by our ability to sin.

    Definitely a combination of both. We are ultimately being lead, but at times we choose to alter that path and lead ourselves. We obviously will alter that pre-determined destiny as well when we choose to do so.
    
    Those decisions we make to take charge and lead ourselves happen for a reason though, so that something can be taught, something learned, something gained or loss. Change occurs. Whether that was pre-determined or not is what makes me think that its a combination of both.

    I think it's bot and I do believe in free will. God has chosen what we will do, certain things we will encounter, but we have the free will to choose path A or path B. He already knows what we will choose and the cycle just continues.

    I'd say predetermined....... everyone can relate to not understanding why certain things have happened/happen, also why things are the way that they are.  Why they are confused and clueless in addition to a trailer load of a whole bunch of other things.  Then Wa-lla one day it finally hits you.  All of the pieces of the puzzle slowly begin to piece themselves together and when you begin to see that you'll finally get a full understanding due to the fact that you witnessed this experience come together and complete itself with your own eyes and not through someone else.
    
    Then again maybe this only applies to certain people being that some are religious and believe X,Y,Z then there are others who believe things happen because you make them happen

    There are three schools of thought on this subject.
    
    (1) There are those who believe that although people make their own destiny, there are sometimes things that occur outside their own control.  They maintain that although people make their own destiny, such is not always the case
    
    (2) There are those who strongly contend that people make and determine their own destiny.  They are of the belief that people are responsible and stewards of their own fate.  They believe that people are in whole responsible for what path their life goes, either for good or bad.  They contend that it is a cop out to believe that destiny is predetermined.
    
    (3) There are those who believe that destiny is predetermined, even predestined.  They assert that outside circumstances & events determine the way that one's life will go.  They believe in the premise of things happen because of good/bad luck, fortune/misfortune, being blessed/being cursed, and other invisible, intangible factors. They do not see that they are responsible in determining how their life should go.  It is "all in the stars" according to them.
