Religious artists, centuries after Jesus was here in the flesh, pictured him as having long hair, somewhat effeminate and hippy like. Nothing could be further from the truth. A study of scripture will show that this was not in any way a picture of Jesus.
Isaiah 53:2 is a prophecy describing his appearance. "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him."
I Corinthians 11:14, " Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him?" If it were a shame Jesus would not do it.
Jesus did not physically stand out in a crowd. See Matthew 26:48, "Now he that betrayed him gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he: hold him fast." Were it not for Judas the soldiers would not have known who he was.
