   Why are people trying to convince themselves that the FSM is not on par with their own religions?
   
   There is not one logical reason that the Church of The Flying Spaghetti Monster should be seen as any different from all of the other major religions. The concept follows the same path. And there is just as much evidence for FSM as there is for all others. Also, the fact that all the planets are shaped like meatballs is undeniable proof to Pastafarians of The Flying Spaghetti Monster's existence. Are you Christians, and others, just trying to convince yourselves that there is no FSM....after He woke you up this morning?!  What? You want proof?  You have NO right to ask for proof.

   I actually wrote a whole hub about the logic behind the FSM, but I think the religious don't see it on par with their own deities because it was designed as an extreme parody to make a point. In one of my philosophy classes the teacher used a teapot as the example (you can't prove there ISN'T a teapot orbiting Saturn) and the FSM is the same logic. The difference, however, is the parody. Similar to Stephen Colbert, the FSM is a caricature to highlight the flaws in a powerful system. And, however valid that may be, it's going to ruffle a few feathers.

      It is the OBVIOUS that the indoctrinated mind cannot grasp.  The programming tricks the mind into seeing a difference....where there is no difference at all behind the "logic" of these "beliefs"

   Which may be sacrilegious, as I think Thor is probably more of a bacon and eggs guy.

      You have mocked the sacred beliefs of the Pastafarians. That's ok...I guess.
      But please, do not, under any circumstances, promote Intelligent Design, because...that would be Blasphemy.

   Because its disrespectful! I'm not overly religious and I get the joke! (it is a pretty silly idea). Still FSM makes a mockery of religion/believing in God that is very true and serious to the religious/believers of God. Religion is an experience and many people feel its important. If something is important to you, you get offended if someone makes fun it, its natural!
   I don't think FSM is in par with other religions at ALL. Yea its a "religion" (I use that term LIGHTLY), but I don't think its equal. Why? I got a couple of reasons.
   1. I don't take it seriously at all. I get the advocating for evolution and being against the teachings of intelligent design (which is kinda stupid, cuss isn't there supposed to separation of church and state, plus how do you teach in an educational setting when the material isn't even educational and more personal). I feel even the believers of this religion don't take it seriously either!
   2. Its based on a guy's mockery of religions (especially Christianity). It's based on a tangent of a douchey letter (aka a rant), written by a man who against the teaching of intelligent design. He used religion as a joke, and it was not even that original of a joke. He just made up things as he went along. Religion has influenced societies in many ways. Without religion I don't think FSM will exist! People don't give enough credit to religion.
   4. Again its disrespectful and makes a mockery of beliefs systems that are important to many people. Imagine if someone made a Church of the N-word? I know its not the same at all, but it carries serious offenses.
   
   From my understanding that you are an atheist? (correct me if I am wrong) I just know you gonna have a lot to say with this!!!!

      deecoleworld, this question was in response to other questions that have been asked recently. FSM is, in fact, a parody of established religions, but aside from that, the outlandish stories aren't any less truthful than established religions.

      The point is to simply prove how silly indoctrinated religious beliefs are. Since there is as much evidence for the existence of the FSM, that brings religion down to the level where it should be.Too bad that people are so attached to such nonsense

      Dee, call it complaining if you must. Religion has been a daily intrusion in our lives. They have that as a Right. Non believers also have that right. It seems to only become a problem when WE exercise OUR rights. INTRUSION is annoying isn't it?

       Deal with it? How? By not ever saying anything? Religion probably won't ever go away, but religious affiliation has decreased, because of information on mass media.

   This is a succinct analysis of the absurdity of organized religions.  Each religion is based upon such mythological premise rather it is a "holy" book or some "preordained" law.  However, religionists have interpreted their religion the way THEY saw fit.  Also, religion was created, or rather instituted to instill fear into the masses in addition to power/authority over their lives.  Yes, the Flying Spaghetti Monster religion is no more absurd than some of the religions we have presently.  Organized religion is utter absurdity to the multillionth degree.   Religion is what its leader wants it to be, no more, no less.

   I think the atheist and agnostic community goes over the top with "GOD is not real argument". I feel sometimes they do get carried away by this innate sense of intellectual superiority that"Oh we are so rational, scientific and peaceful human beings, why don't the believers become just like us?" Just state your arguments man, You don't have to rub it in the face of a believer.
   Please understand that it is the work of religious fundamentalists to spread their religion not of a person who claims he is rational. He should leave it on the judgment of his fellow human to accept or reject any theory while arguing only the rationale behind it not abusing each other( theist brothers) or showing intellectual superiority (atheist/agnostic brothers).
