What are the different names of God and what do they mean?
In a Christian religious view, god has no name, but calls himself
'I Am'. I think it means that he is everything.
I've heard many other names including Jehovah and Buddha(Isn't really considered a god. A Buddha is a righteous person in Japan).
What is God’s personal name, and what does it mean?
Jehovah” is the best known English pronunciation of the divine name, although “Yahweh” is favored by most Hebrew scholars.
Jehovah’s name was first revealed to Moses sometime prior to the Exodus from Egypt when Moses raised the question:
“Suppose I am now come to the sons of Israel and I do say to them, ‘The God of your forefathers has sent me to you,’ and they do say to me, ‘What is his name?’ What shall I say to them?’’” God’s answer:
“I shall prove to be what I shall prove to be. This is my name to time indefinite; Jehovah the God of your forefathers has sent me to you.”
Moses now in answer reveals that there is no change in God’s name, but only an additional insight into God’s personality. The name Jehovah comes from the Hebrew verb hawah, and actually means “He Causes to Become.” This reveals Jehovah as the One who, with progressive action, causes himself to become the Fulfiller of promises.
Each religion has a name that is identified with an unseen entity All of these name identify the exact same entity in all religions. Allow me to give you an example: you want to go to a certain city you must travel an expressway there is a variety of ways to enter the expressway that will lead you to your destination.
