No, I'd say logic and scientific literacy are mostly responsible. People realize that natural explanations are better than supernatural non-explanations and people realize the oft barbaric and irrelevant nature of most major religions.

Um nope I don't agree with Titen, but that is ok! Yes I agree its more important to have objects and materialism than love your own family anymore. If you study back in the day, relationships and families were totally different. This really has become and idol that we put before God. We rather worship materialism than him. Money & Materialism go together the more you have the more you want, and think you need. Most marriages end in divorce because money is the main thing they fight about, which equals materialism. In divorce court people spend more money over objects and materialism.  I always have to laugh at people that bash religions and the spirit world, due to they probably have never had a personal relationship with God, to know what they are talking about. Everyones experiences are different, and they can try to persuade me all they want to, but they will never prove to me there is no God. lol Sorry Titen, if you haven't experienced God, I guess that is your choice, but fortunately God is not about hate, and discrimination, and prejudice. I find it funny that they keep saying this. I don't know what planet they reside on, but the God I've always known has blessed my life in very great wonderful ways. I have no reason to ever doubt that God is there.

no i don't. knowledge and common sense is causing people to get away from these so-called gods. people now are starting to think for themselves and they see how absurd and silly believing in a god is. were getting wiser and smarter. it's awesome.

The root of all evil is fear. Fear causes greed, jealousy, materialism.

The fear of not having enough causes greed and materialism.
This is a sickness just as bad as pedophiles and those who exploit others. They can never have enough.

Today the corporations such oil companies, health providers, drug companies all rake in more wealth than what they need on the back of the poor and sick. They engineer public opinion and buy off politicians to maintain or increase their wealth.
They feel they have the right to make billions more even if they have to restrict the basic right of others to survive.

There are things in this world we know as truths through our own personal experiences. A persons refusal to believe in God probably stems from a lack of experience with God. Each person has struggles in life that fights their nature to flourish, ex: greed or materialism, but the things that seperate us from God are wide and ranging ex: escapism, addiction, and on and on. It's about realizing those damaging things in our lives and understanding the damper they have on our potential. Our want for greed and materialism show us the need to give up certain destructive instincts in our own humanity and embrace the gifts of God.

i think loss of empathy drives a person away from God and other creatures. If you don't feel the pain of others your own pain will become unbearable.
