   people are more interested in philosophy of religion, everyone is trying to learn something for themselves. But God knows all those things :-)

   I think that there are plenty of people who are more interested in God or Spirit than in religion. We just tend to be quieter, and less contentious.

   I am completely the opposite. I am more interested in God than religion any day. Religion, is the opiate of the masses.

      Hi Eric. You're very broad-minded, and I admire that. Not many people who believe in God would quote Karl Marx, the ultimate violent atheist. It was Marx who called religion "the opiate of the masses."

   religion is of man and man control there religion. God is truth and if you know God  you have to live for God and that just to much for a lot of people

   Most people I know are more interested in God over religion , but if I were to guess I'd say its because religions claim to be the path to God .
   
   Religious followers claim that following a religion truly will lead to God , perhaps help one 'understand ' God . Also its a really good platform for politics .

   Are they? I do not know this for a fact, but let's just assume what you say is true. It is probably because religion is really about human behavior and sociology and we humans are fascinated by our own behavior! Plus, a discussion about religion is usually a lively, even heated debate which many people thrive on.
   
   Let me guess why people might be less interested in God. I would guess, assuming this is true that God may be a bit more of an intellectual, abstract or philosophical subject which may appeal to fewer people. Perhaps people think they already know enough about God or see no need for God or have prior experiences with education about God that turned them off to knowing more. Perhaps the topic of God does not mean a lot to some people because they do not realize the enormity of the concept, Who God is and how awesome He is. Just guessing - I do not know.

   Religion is just a term used to establish in belief of what one dictates as being the "right" or "proper" way to live and what they believe is morally acceptable.
   
   There are only two beliefs out there... Religion and God. (Atheism and Evolution believers fall under religion by definition)
   
   More people are interested in religion because they can bend it, twist it, and make it work at their convenience. You can't do this with God.

    For some, religion is a framework that facilitates communication with God. It brings others together through ritual, tradition, and discussion of God's word and how He works in our daily lives. There is power in praying or chanting together. Unfortunately for many," religion" refers to the practices of  organized religious institutions that run like businesses and shift the concern from God to the bottom line. Worse, still, some actually try to disguise greed in a cloak of holiness. I will disagree, however, with the statement that " people are more interested in religion than God".  There are many people throughout the world who live by their faith in God's grace in the poorest of circumstances or those that find enlightenment by shrugging off material possessions. The relationship with God is the important thing.

    Religion is associated with God without the concept of God there is no religion. It  binds a group of people  or a nation and it slowly spreads to the new believers across the world..what worries me is the fact that in the name of religion certain bad  can done or practiced which actually as no relevance to God..

    Religion is okay, as long as ego doesn't get in the way. But that's what it's all about -- getting rid of ego so that the true self (soul, child of God within) can reawaken.
    
    Religion is a tool for achieving that end. And therefore it is good.
    
    Ego perverts all that is good. Ego is the heart of selfishness. Humility is the antidote.
    
    God formed religion when he brought Aaron, his sons and the Levites together to tend to the children of Israel after they were saved from Egypt.
    
    Gautama Siddhartha formed religion when he started to teach what he discovered about subduing ego and reawakening the true self.
    
    Those who still have ego, need religion, but they invariable muck it up.
    
    God is not important. God merely IS. Religion is less important and is frequently distorted.

    Religion is the specific activities, rites, services, and trappings that men use to relate to their God. (or gods) You cannot have one without the other.
    Now keep in mind that some people use the word "religion" as a pejorative, that is, because they didn't like something about someone else's "religion" they therefore condemn "religion" as a bad thing.
    But to separate them is absurd.
    In most "religions," the specific rites, services, and practices, are prescribed and defined by God anyway. Muslims are intensely religious, they pray five times a day. They would consider that an absolute and necessary part of their religious devotion, and they do it because Allah told them to. And a Muslim would say that praying five times a day is what brings them near to Allah. Jesus told his disciples how to pray, and how to do sacraments. When He taught the Lord's Prayer, he was specifying a religious practice. Hence, if you pray the Lord's prayer, you are carrying out religion as it was commanded. And every religion has practices and rites of this kind.
    But let's be as broad as we possibly can. Let's pretend that you have your own set of beliefs that utterly reject whatever it is that you call religion. How do you then relate to your God? Do you read something? Meditate? Pray? Sing? Whatever you do to relate to your God is your religion - it is how you relate to your God.
    Now, maybe you don't like the way other people relate to God. Maybe you don't like candles, or organs, or prayer books, or choir robes, or prayer mats, or specific days, or whatever. But you still have a religion that you follow. I have known very devout and Godly people who worship in ways that would put me to sleep. That doesn't make them wrong or that those people are substituting religion for God.
    Maybe the correct question to ask is: why do some people's religious practices seem to be meaningless to me.
