This is a loaded question, there are those who are super spiritual and believe we live to serve the god of your choice, there are those who believe we live to die and there are a ton of people who believe a million other things. This is my belief (I cannot stress this enough) I believe we live to experience. Life is a miracle, I mean just look at anything we can accomplish, everything we have accomplished so far and what we will accomplish in the future. That should be enough proof that our very existence is a gift. I also believe that when we cease to exist in the physical that our mental and spiritual parts of our body go into a collective (life stream?) if you will, to be "recycled". I also believe that there are no good or bad experiences just events which we should learn from (I'm not saying there isn't good and evil, just when it comes to experiences in our lives this applies), I mean if not for what we are taught to believe as a collective(society) we would have no concept of good or bad(there namesakes). Any situation that makes you feel bad could make someone else feel good. I believe we use good and bad as a cop out as they are the most simplistic way to describe how we felt, are currently feeling or did feel during the situation. I think people believe that the best way to explain something is simplicity and with good and bad it doesn't get much more simple than that.
Practically and very pessimistically to speak we live for death.
Never mind my rude reply here.
But in a more positive note we live to feel, to experience, to love, to care, to be cared for and to live in the minds of our nearest ones even after we are gone from this world. To prosper in our life, to experience and be where we wish to be and the happiness that we can spread around us makes life worth living even more then we can live for. After we are born here we may live with a positive and caring attitude to pass every day of our life in the praise of Almighty for whom we are here. Its all in our mind and aspiration that can make our life meaningful for a better cause in this world. We can live close to the meaning of our birth here by trying to spread love and compassion for the needy ones around us.
Thank you for this is an interesting question again.
Surely not speaking for anybody other than myself as this question has an answer specific to all individuals who are not cloned drones of systematic conformity... So with that said?... Living for another dose of Ben & Jerry's 'Cherry Garcia' is a good enough reason for me to carry on.... ~grins~
We live to experience our own paths to the true meaning of life.

Is this all to life: we live, we reproduce, and we die?If we knew without a doubt that life continues after death, would it change how we treat each other?. By the way, is the transmutation of the caterpillar into a butterfly after death any hint to what might happen to us after death? If you think...

What if it were God's will for a person to live in the prison system? What good will God give in that kind of situation?

Why do most people, whilst they acknowledge God's existence fail to live for him?The devil has done everything he can to make people think that he doesn’t exist and yet most people live for him. Most people, though they believe in God don’t live for him. Why is that?

I'm an atheist, yet I'm open-minded enough to acknowledge that God might exist. If you are a theist, are you open-minded enough to acknowledge that He might not?
