Ashleign, God does not change regardless of what beliefs change. Truth is singular & unchanging. What you believe does not change what is, but what is should change what you believe. If everyone stopped believing in God, God would still exist.
God has to be changing..... should it be the truth we all go to heaven if we are good... he has to be changing to adapt to the expanding population of those sitting at his feet.... if Quantum Physics is true God is expanding... list goes on
I find it very difficult to believe people don't understand that God is change, God is everything, part of everything and everything changes so change must be at the top of his agenda because it happens all the time, If not how could things improve?.
Actually the sun and mood won't always be there, nor the earth for that matter. The stars you see aren't really what you see, what you see is hundreds or millions of light years in the past. Those stars might very well not exist anymore.
The character of Allah and the character of Yahweh contrast. They are not the same. Christians did adopt a lot of pagan holidays, including Christmas, changing them to fit their beliefs. Christianity is rooted in Judaism, rooted in beginning of time
Yea, and I hear the God from the old testament, you know the genocidal one? Is the old God or a "history." I also heard about a third testament that the garden of eden is in Jackson County Missouri.. God, Gods, Faiths, beliefs they all change.
Everything changes, nothing stays the same. Everything you look at is different the next day, even if you can't see it with the naked eye. Rocks slowly deteriorate, roads are heated and cooled and buckle, grass grows and is cut again, rivers swell and dry out. Humans alone are basically "new" about every seven years from old cells being shed and replaced with new ones. So, there isn't anything that never changes.
The world doesn't stand still; everybody knows that. To say that change doesn't change, is a total contradiction by definition. For example: Does the molecular structure of H2O change from the definition of what we call water?
Ha, ha, I couldn't stop you and wouldn't try, I wanted to say much more but was too busy being creative with other things, conflict = reaction = change = creation, the engine of it all. Why is knowledge power? Don't answer that here I just posted it.
My immediate answer would be the past. However, we've shown messing with quantum entanglement can change results of a past experiment.
Maybe the distant past, but I don't think physicists will agree on that one either.
Anyway, I am frustrated with the God answers. Regardless if you believe in a God or not, peoples' interpretation of any sacred text changes. In the past, some Christians put homosexuals to death. Today, some condone it.
You might argue that God himself never changes, but "sacred texts" would indicate otherwise. In the Bible, for example, God of the old testament is very much different than the new. I know I'm not going to change anyone's mind. I just wanted to voice my frustration.
A journalist asked a woman about her past, She said her wedding was wonderful, Her dress was white. Her husband replied, the wedding was a disaster, and your dress was yellow. Our interpretation of the past is everything.
This is a difficult and at the same time a easy answer. It depends which way you look at it, either from a mans view point or a woman's view point or something universal From a man's view point what never changes is desire for a woman. Even if a man is 75 this desire never goes away. It can only be suppressed with prayer and mediation. There is a bigger question. Is it wrong?
the inevitability of change will never change. The moon always setting - not so. One day, that will change. There is a zen proverb which asks "what is the probability that the sun will rise tomorrow?" we can't say 100% because we don't know the variables that it includes. When did the sun begin rising? When will time end? The only constant is change....ironically
This is such a powerful question Ashleign! I'm fairly certain a short answer would fall woefully short of anything resembling the truth. So all I can say is that the answer, in my humble opinion, is beyond our capacity as humans to understand. That being said, Writing a hub about this may be fun! Perhaps we can all give it our best shot and watch the fireworks! Again, very powerful question! Well done! Bruce
Thank you Bruce. In college I was asked this answer by a professor. I was told to write a 500 word essay on the question, and ultimately answer it. I studied for 5 weeks. He was flooded with papers about God. and I alone said, Change itself.
"The only constant is change - so get used to it!" - me yelling at my kids everyday.
You know come to think of it, I hope when they remember back on their childhoods, that they remember that line before they remember a cool-headed mom.
That didn't answer your question at all I guess I could try to flip it and say the only thing that never changes is change itself...oooh, now there's a door I never walked through before *peaks in and begins to explore*...
I actually believe that some forms of raptors did evolve into birds. The movie Jurassic park, did after all have some true fact. Believe it or not, there is a book about how some reptiles evolved into some of the more known birds.
Either way, it is amazing that 'change' is the preferred answer here. Everybody should know that the universe doesn't exist in a stagnant state. People can just say something stupid and call it a philosophy, I suppose; ha!
Because I have made my life about growth. I never change. For today I grow and tomorrow I grow. I never learn everything. I always learn something. This is not bragging but a point of view of humility and ever open eyes to what should, could, must be learned. Each day the sun rises, it must rise upon my back in labor. For learning is a task not made for weak or sometimes people. These these change: love, devotion, earth wind and fire, war and peace. But I grow no matter what. When we know we are not captive to a given set of facts or beliefs. We do not change we remain the same in a quest for knowledge.
Love this one. Especially the edited version of the bible, where Paul is speaking with Jesus in heaven, looking down on the burning souls in hell. Paul says if you love them, why let them burn. Jesus says, they only burn until allowed in heaven.
Ashleign, your essence never changes. The essence of all human beings. Your essence is also called your true self or original self or the Self. Socrates lived hundreds of years before Jesus Christ was born. Socrates taught that the most important thing in life was the soul. This is what he was talking about when he said "Know thyself."
When you know yourself that never changes only then can you feel perfect peace and everlasting love. You were here before time and space existed and you will be here after time and space is gone. Now if you only knew lazy ways to make money on the internet, that would make you really special!
Nature always moves in the forward direction, never in reverse. Everything grows up from start then meets its end after a defined time. This law of nature never changes. Times also moves in forward direction. It has only one direction.
The laws of nature have been destroyed by the laws of man. Nature does show as a constant. Nature was present on other planets as well, and were destroyed. Hence Change. Habitats change, as does nature.
The past is the only thing that never changes. It is all we know and all we can know. We can not know the future; and by the time our mind processes the present it is the past therefore we can not know the present either.
We use to think that the USS Maine was sunk by an undersea mine. It was later determined that a fire in the coal hold caught fire and ignited the ammunition hold. The battleship sank. We used this information to go to war.
Niel that is quantum theory that it might be possible at any rate it has never been done so that past hasn't changed. And since we can only perceive the past if we do someday change the past it will have been done in the past making it unchanged.
Quantum physics is fact being able to alter time and / or the past is theory. As I said given that we can only see the past even if we somehow altered it, it would be in the past thus the past remains unchanged.
Borsia - trouble is "we do not even know what it is we do not know" Time is an illusion..... time is is our conscious awareness in the field of vibrations ( all there is, was, & will be is nothing more than a field of vibrations, energy & fr
Time is a completely human concept that again however doesn't change the past as we accept the definition as that which has already happened. As I said we can only see the past and it never changes regardless of time or how we depict it.
Borsia - The fact that is has not been done does not mean it is impossible to do.... The past may well be changeable, this we do not know for certain. Based on what we know it can not be changed... the unknown awaits
Only when something has been done does id transcend from theory to fact. But if someone did eventually travel in time, time travel would be in the past as would be anything they did. It would likely destroy the present. Butterfly effect 101.
One word - intolerance. That seems to not change much no matter how hard people fight to change it. Tolerance isn't just about race and religion, either. Tolerance even includes other people's opinions and thoughts. Tolerance means so much and it's just sad that if there was more tolerance in the world, there might be more peace. I mean, I know it would take a heck of a lot more than just that to bring world peace, but it's a start.
That's very true, but what I meant is that we're in the year 2013 and everywhere you look you still see intolerance. It's alive and well. All you have to do is read the comment section of a news article. There's ugliness and intolerance everywhere.
God's character will never change. It is the constant guiding moral standard by which we can truly know right from wrong. If God's character changed, morality would change and nothing would make sense. This is because if today murder is wrong because taking life dishonors the image of God that person had, if tomorrow murder is ok, then the image of God means nothing and there would be no objective truth in the universe. In essence, without God, anything goes.
You are right.. Without God, there would have been no crowd control, without fear of reprisal. This is also why many books of the bible were essentially edited out, from fear of people reading that they can do as they please. Your god, does change.

What never changes is the sun rising and setting, babies being born, the pregnancies of different species and their deliveries .We all die. The most important unchanged fact is God's love and promise to us all.
That can change. The sun might die, evolution may stop births (Like that movie "Children of Men") and who knows about God, you just believe in some ancient book that could be someones Imagination, he can't look after 7 billion people.

Is God a nothing?Couldn't it be said that God is "no thing" -- not a physical construct or created object? If one posits a source of the universe (and logically existence of anything seems to demand a source)...
