Can we have the life we want? How can we really define what we want?
You Tube Search for "Your Wish Is Your Command" ... listen to the 13 one hour audios... you will find your answer. That is if you really want the question answered.
In life, we can aim for what we want and work to achieve goals; however, we have little control over our circumstances. It's taken me most of my life to learn to live in the moment and live it to the fullest which for me is sharing time w/ family/ friends, enjoying the natural world, staying close to God , being thankful for all circumstances, and appreciating the simple things we often take for granted. That being said, positive thinking goes a long way.
...the life we want? From childhood through to adulthood the lesson always learned is that the life "we" want is not the answer to happiness or fulfillment. Our soul can only be satisfied by it's creator and the question to ask is not "How can we really define what we want?" but "What is the life the Lord wants for me and how can I obtain it?" He has a plan, a purpose for your life and unless you repent from sin, die to yourself and make him the Lord of your life you can never define what you want nor have it and without HIM you will lose it...for all eternity.
I sincerely HOPE we can have the life we want! As for defining what I really want - I've never had a problem doing so!
If I were to define what I want, I would put it this way : "I will accept without grumbling whatever God gives me as right in my life, even though it may not be to my taste or liking"
If we wish so and if we are 100% sincere in it, then that "want" would surely be satisfied!
Most people have a great deal of more control over their lives then they know. I only limit this comment to the Westren world . I do not think it applies to people living in conditions that make them struggle for daily exsistence. If you have reasonable opportunity then yes you can get most of what you want and define yourself.
Most people do actually get what they want. Not what they say they want , but the things that their thoughts and actions are directed towards. Anyone who is honest with themselves will find this is true. If you toyed with the idea of leaving an unhappy relationship, you will find your actions told the other person long before the words came out of your mouth.
To be successful we need to learn to be intentional and positive with our thoughts and actions. Then we will actually get the good things that we admit we want.
Truely, we can have the life we want. We can set our goals and aims that we want to achieve and if we strive sincerely, we will succeed to achieve them. But sometimes some situations arise in life that act as obstacles in the way of achievment of the aims. Our wisdom and foresightedness will definitely help us overcome the obstacles in path of our aims and goals.
Spiritually speaking, those obstacles are, in fact, created by us only either in this life or previuos lives (if you believe in re-birth). But if you have absotute faith and trust in the Almighty Power, you will definitely get His help or guidence in overcoming the obstacles.
Too much expectation might end up in frustration for us especially if our capabilities doesn't meet the requirements of achieving our heart's desire in life. For me the best thing to do is to understand our strength and weakness and try to capitalize on our strength and work on our weakness. Then we should check our desires whether they are really realistic and are achievable or else we are just in a mere state of "day dreaming" hoping to achieve an aim that can never really be realized.

What is the best way to "live in the now"?I often hear about this as a means of de-stressing and improving the quality of one's life, but I often find it hard to do. My OCD and Generalized Anxiety Disorder don't help either. If you are able to, what's your secret?
