There is a passage of scripture that paints a touching portrait of the Lord Jesus Christ while letting us in on some of the key truths of His divinity and His humanity in essence. It shows us why we should worship and emulate Jesus in our lives.

There was never a moment in the life of Jesus when he suddenly  became God. He was God before he entered this world as a little baby. And he remained God after he became man. The scripture says that He gave up his divine privileges, it does not mean that he ceased being God. He simply deity. But he never voided it. He always was, always is, and always will be God.

John 1:1-4 In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him and nothing was created except through him, The Word gave life to everything that was created...

So Jesus veiled His deity without voiding it.

Another way of saying that Jesus :took the humble position of a slave' is to say that He emptied himself. This simply means that he emptied himself of the privileges of deity. he did not ever perform a miracle for his own benefit. He walked this earth as a man, not a spirit. He experienced human limitations. Jesus-God in human form-experienced being hungry. He knew sorrow. He got tired. He knew what it was like to feel loneliness. Jesus got tempted in ways even as we did and we do.For this reason, God understands everything that we go through.

Hebrews 2:17-18 Therefore it was necessary for him to be made in every respect like us, his brothers, and sisters, so that he could be our merciful and faithful High Priest before God. Then He could offer a sacrifice that would take away the sins of His people. Since he himself has gone through suffering and testing, he is able to help us when we are being tested. Jesus experienced our experiences.

No matter what anyone thinks of Jesus now, in the end every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. The Bible says that Christ's divine nature, which he veiled at times during time on earth, will then be seen clearly visible for all to see.

        Earnest,

This is precisely the problem with most avid believers in Christianity and for that matter in other religions too. They won't say, those who understand and have faith in my God (=in this case, Jesus) will bow to him. They will say, with a ton of authority and arrogance that the entire humanity will bow down to their God. (Else, they will all end up in hell).

There is this saying : "More loyal than the king". These people fit into that category.

Yahshua was not God. Yahshua was divine/human and came to tell us we are too. We just have to accept it. He told us to Pray to the Father and never told us to pray to him. He came in the name of his Father..Yah..Yah Shua.
He thought it not robbery to make himself EQUAL to God.

Okay don't take this the wrong way, I mean I'm not even disagreeing with you or anything, but you said in the other thread that all the gods everybody worshipped were the same god, the one true god, just under different names, and that would therefore necessarily mean the same god you worship too.

Well alot of people- i mean like a really huge lot of people- worship Jesus as their god. So in the other thread you were claiming he was the one true god just under a different name, and in this thread you're claiming he's no god at all.

Huh is all I'm saying. Don't get all mad now.

I wasn't going to respond to you anymore however I will in this one.
Since Christ is not God, I never once said he was. Christians also worship the only true God but they think the Father incarnated into flesh as Christ and was told to worship him in both forms and they are confused about what Christ taught.

Scripture speaks in Metaphor but some religions take it literal.

Gods can't die, can they? Isn't your god infinite? If so, then Jesus never did die, it was all a charade to fool the people into believing he died for their sins. And, since he never died, then he was never resurrected, either.

Puts a real damper on Christianity, that does.

No disrespect intended, however, I thought we were not supposed to use this forum to promote religion??
Also, I'm happy that you believe what you do.  But, I think of the story of Jesus as a lesson containing guidelines for good behavior.  I respect the story and
there are lots of good messages in both the Old and New Testament.
However, there is no proof that "God" wrote the bibile, people wrote the bible.
People needed some way of controlling the masses so some smart people
like a Rabbi constructed a guide book for how to live.
If God wrote the bible, when did this happen and who was the publisher?
Did God get a copyright?  I have a degree in Religion and Mytholgy from NYU and this subject is under the heading of Cultural Anthropology.
Because there is no culture that is without some belief system.  So
who's got the real story.  Is it the Islamic people?  Mohamed was illiterate
but he said he was inspired to spread his message to his people.
Most Religious movements are political.  Mohamed may have not been able to read and write but he must of been a smart.  He saw his people in chaos, worshiping many gods, while the Semites were more organized and were more successful as people.  Even Confucius
who later became a God via the public admiration, never claimed to have had any religious experience.  His take was that at the  ri;omg people at Court  were acting so barbaric that they needed a talking to, and so we have the Analects.  He goes so far as to tell you  about how to dress, behave in public, and be a good soldier, etc.
Lao Tzu (Old Sage) known as the Father of Taoism (his real name was Li Erh).  wrote the Tao Te Ching.  Legend says that this book is about findng the Tao (Way) by non-action opposed to Confucianism that tried to regulate every movement.
I could go on endlessly talking about other great teachers through history
but as Paddy Chayefsky said in his novel "Altered States", "The one great truth, is there is no one great truth".
I do think there was a flood because almost every culture has a story about one including the Hopi Indians.
All I'm saying is that ,"There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.'
      Hamlet Act 1, scene 5, 159–167
P.S. I went through 12 years of Catholic school but I did not get brainwashed, time to think for yourself.  I hope you get that I am not being mean, just truthful.

Eh he didn't mess around. These days the god is like "I'll be back... soon. And I'm bringing my daddy with me and you'll be sorry."

Zeus took care of business. He'd get tired of mankind and just ZAP! Kill 'em all and create a whole new race. They messed with him and ZAP! Killed 'em all again, started over from scratch. I mean, you know, dirt is cheap. The cookie crumbles you just make a new one. No since crying over spilled milk, and yes I know I'm mixing my metaphors, but cookies and milk go so well together.

And you know he screwed like everyone. He saw a girl he wanted he took her. Screw his wife. Openly betrayed people or the lesser gods, tricked people, slew people, he never bothered trying to justify any of it with weak excuses and pretences of righteousness.

Sure, I even have an easier time swallowing the existence of mythical gods like Zeus, Apollo and Hercules than I do in religiously based zombification.

I mean really, a millennium earlier Egyptians were playing with mummification that has since resulted in Saturday afternoon B grade horror flicks.

It scared the bejezzus outta everyone!

So, what the heck is the difference?

The former turns into a cult film while the latter forms one of the hugest cult followings in history.

      Beats me.

Hmmm.....? Angered others? How can that be? lol lol A sweet lady like yourself...causing anger to be felt in others. lol

Their anger was not caused by what you did or even what you said. It was caused by their own-inflated selfish and prideful ego, which is reinforced by a faith based belief.

Which defies their own existence at the core of who they are. Yet, do not realize it.

So, when you speak or act against their religious view or belief, then their defensive mechanism forces them to open their mouths with spouting inclinations of untruth.

They cannot help it. Many are too far gone to come back to reality and deal with life head on. They are too self-absorbed to give a damn about others, except those closest to them.

Yeah I believe that. Like at first yer like wtf is wrong with these people? You know, when I first started trying to talk some sense into people. But after awhile I dunno, I just think, well two things. Like you say, they've become so dependent on their beliefs that they just can't function in the real world.

Plus you know alot of these people really build their whole lives around it, their religion is everything to them. And then they just can't admit -maybe even not to themselves- that they've been wrong. That they've dedicated their whole lives and their families' lives to a false concept.

Must be tough. I feel some compassion for them, but it just bounces off of their pride anyway.

Again, I say take everything Jesus from the OT, rip it out of the bible and put it into proper context.

Do it with some understanding of humankind's history. Jesus' story of life experiences are wrapped up in his teachings. This is what's missing from separating Jesus from religious text.

Anything before Jesus' time is a hoax. Jesus knew and told everyone.
Anything after Jesus' execution is also a hoax. Simply because "Religion" stole his teachings and added his work, to their hoax, so as to perpetuate their own message, and so Jesus' message could be adapted to religious scripture, and give it creditability.

Common-sense says religion came before Jesus' birth. His teachings were NOT religious nor did he preach religion's teachings of the "GOD" concept.

He did code his teachings in religious language, so as to not be detected by the Romans, but was executed anyways, being guilty of nothing.

Sin - religion's terminology. Sinners don't actually exist.

    Just a rambling. smile

Never-I will prevail in these deadly topic threads tonight - you must stay strong as well because there's a human named jesus - think concert tickets go on sale tomorrow

You are right of course... we must be strong. I have a serious in session hearing with my 4 year old twin grand daughters and 5 year old super-spiderman tomorrow, so will need to be very aware.
The legal minded twin Asha will have cleaned me up intellectually in about ten minutes, and I must be prepared for the onslaught from her sister as well.
I am learning to do what they tell me, but I can only hop on one leg or bounce like a kangaroo for short periods. I may fail.
Yes, the pressure is on in my life! lol

There is no doubt that Jesus was Human, indeed Jesus was a very popular name at that time, I believe that he was inspired by God and lived his live as a follower of God.....however....I have to wait to find out if he was the son of God.....I believe that all faith what ever that faith is is good...I dont care what name faith goes by as long as it keeps people feeling good about themselves and the world around them... praise the lord smile

According to the Bible, Jesus was born, so he was human.

The apostles did not believe Jesus was God and they did not worship Jesus.

Jesus did not become God until the council of Nicaea in the year 325AD when the Roman Emperor Constantine, with the help of the bishops, declared him to be a God.

This was also when they created the Holy Ghost/Spirit to complete the triumvirate so common in pagan religions which made it easy for the pagans to convert to the new religion.

Yep. Totally man-made. People living their lives and trying to impose their belief system on the rest of us according to stories voted on by a bunch of long dead men 1700 years ago. Pretty pathetic.

If Jesus had been killed 20 years ago, Catholic school children would be wearing little Electric Chairs around their necks instead of crosses.
