if you wake up one fine morning and in front of you is irrevocable evidence that there is no god. what will you do?
will you go on as usual?
or will you start robbing all the banks to make yourself the richest person in the world?(to add an effect you may shoot some too!!)
The death of God will not have vital impact on the minds of atheists. However, theres a high possibility that a portion of the believers might loose control over their life & will start committing crimes, while the rest of the believers will not accept the Dead being as God & will continue to worship as they are used to.
The life force of the universe, is God.
Not the other way around.
I hope that makes sense to you. It does to me.
If it dies, we won't know it because we won't BE!
Every day I wake up I see no irrevocable evidence that would indicate any gods exist at all, or leprechauns, or unicorns, or...
First there is a God. Second God can never die for He is spirit. What will you do when you die and discover that God does exist?
What will you do when you die and discover that Allah exists instead of your god?
Notice how your question is irrelevant in light of the many, many possible alternatives?
Dave, and company, are terminal 'Rivers of Denial.' Very very very sad.
God has many different names from many different peoples and religions, BUT, God is still God. You are a fool trying to confuse the issue not dealing with the truth.
And yet, you believe in a particular god and a particular set of doctrines. You don't believe in all those other gods and have already stated they are myths. In fact, you have said some pretty nasty things in the past about those gods and religions.
Seems you are now changing your story.
It appears you are once again emotionally lashing out. You claimed I was insulting you in another thread when I did no such thing, yet you call me a "fool" in this thread. That is a personal insult in which I could report you.
Of course, I won't do that. If I reported every believer who insulted me personally, I would have a full time job.
Don't be the one who case the first stone, for thou have made great improvement since the Stone Age. Some day, they may change most of the rules in the bible until it's totally unrecognizable from med evil times
Then let me see you praise Allah.
As Salaam Alaikum! Brother!
That is not a problem "Praise God the creator and giver of all life." Do you deny that God is God? Do you deny that God is known by many names?
But Allah burns people such as yourself for not accepting the Word of Mohamed The Prophet who taught that Christians are wrong.
So - 1.5 billion people think you are going to burn in hell.
This seems a risky bet.
Do you now accept Allah instead of the false Jesus?
God is God. Jesus is the "Son of God". God has many names. Jesus also has many names and titles.
I have never denied that God has many names. Jehovah, Yaweh,
I AM, The Lord,Father, God has many names and titles.
That just on the 2000 disagreeable version of the bible, and on one side veiw of God. Lets not forget all the other names for God towards most the rest of the population on earth, talk about name calling
I didn't see you write Allah, Vishnu or Buddha. Are these the same God you worship, Dave? Do you turn to the east when you pray?
*!!!WARNING!!!*
Whoever sacrifices to any god, except the Lord alone, shall be doomed. (Exodus 22:19 NAB)
LOL. Or maybe not. If the Christians are right, the only unpardonable sin is to blaspheme the holy spirit. Which would mean, the joke's on you. If the Muslim's or Jews are right, it probably doesn't matter, you're out of luck either way. I don't know about any other religions, but you'd probably suffer a similar fate.
Either way you look at it, your beliefs are worthless, and a waste of time to clutter one's intellect.
For the sake of sanity, it is better not to give holy books any relevance at all, because they are all absurd.
so, it is your contention that one should not clutter one's mind with deeper thoughts?
Well, I could just as well go with Aesop Fables.
I could have a field day with that one, but I suspect you're trying to set me up. I think everyone should read what they want, believe or not believe what they want, and enjoy an exchange with a person with an opposing view. You definitely fall into that category.
Yes, you have. You have denied all gods that do not support your personal belief system. Remember when you said. "My God"
Sorry Dave, but the gods that are claimed to exist have a lot more names than that. Of course, you will deny those gods, hence you deny that gods have many names.
That's not what my bible says, Dave:
Deuteronomy 13:6-11 — If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, “Let us go and worship other gods” (gods that neither you nor your fathers have known, gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), do not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity. Do not spare him or shield him. You must certainly put him to death. Your hand must be the first in putting him to death...
Your Bible and my Bible say the same thing. It is referring to worshipping false gods or idols. I do no such thing. The fact that My God Our God has many different names as appears in the Bible does not mean that if you recognize Almighty God with a different name it is wrong. Jehovah, Yaweh, I Am, The Lord, all names or terms referring to Almighty God. So get off your high and mighty horse you are not dealing with an unbeliever, but rather a child of God Himself.
Really? Seems that it is you who is on a high horse, Dave. You do not believe in all gods, but only the god of your bible. There are many more gods, Dave. Sorry.
You continue to refer to "gods" there is but one "God" but Hes is recognized by many different names and identities. I deny none of the names or identities of God. The God of our fathers is one and the same.
Dave, unlike you, I understand there are a lot of people with a lot of different beliefs in a lot of different gods who say exactly the same thing as you.
If they all believed in the same god as you, they would all agree with you. But they don't, Dave. You are quite alone in your own personal religious belief system. There are few if any who would agree with all of your beliefs.
Notice how reality continues to show itself despite your personal beliefs.
I know you have never bothered, but I know that if you did bother to read my spiritual hubs you would see that I have many readers and followers I have been read by over 20,000 readers and have over 200 fans/followers so I really guess you have no idea what you are talking about here.
That's wonderful, Dave, you must be very proud of yourself.
Are you saying there are over 200 people in the world that sort of agree with you. WOW! Impressive!
And, this is somehow relevant to the discussion... how?
You alleged that I had little or few readers and followers. Now you know the opposite. There is no sense in trying to attack me for as you must realize by now, I will never change my faith-based belief in God, and Jesus. Believers of God and followers of Christ Jesus the Messiah have willingly sacrificed their lives for their faithful beliefs I will too. What are you willing to sacrifice yourself for?
That is a lie. I stated that there are few people who would believe in the same beliefs as you.
Yes, I know, Dave. Reality does not interest you in the least.
Only the psychotic would ever sacrifice themselves for a faith based belief, Dave. Of course, your reasoning and your faith is what causes so many wars.
So, once again Dave, there are many different gods and many different beliefs, and yours is just one of those many. Your god may have a couple of names that many believers will disagree with, but that fact remains that there are a lot of other gods with a lot of other believers who say exactly the same thing as you.
Hence, your religion and your beliefs are diminished amongst the many.
I refuse to exchange useless banter with you. I believe what I believe as do you. It appears that we must agree to disagree.
You can refuse, Dave. But, doesn't that show a closed mind?
And, you can disagree there are many religions with many different gods who have followers that say exactly the same things as you about their gods.
Please feel free to disagree with reality, Dave.
Beelzedad
You are a smart guy
If you were just a little more up beat and wrote few more hubs, you would have a lot more followers
Yes christianly is popular, yet so is McDonalds
Question is, is it healthy for you
First, there are the 'Elves of Underhill'.
Continue for every fictional aspect/entity you can think of and apply it to the rest of Dave's nonsense.
The question was asked and answered. There is a God a creator. You can put me down and call my answer "nonsense" But what if I'm right and God exists. The fact that you deny Him does not change the fact that He is.
I'd go on with life as usual.
...'course I'd keep a wary eye on the, now, extremely paranoid believers!
"Their" 'god thing" was a mythical, psychotic, raging "murderer" ya know. Ya'd never know what "they'd" be up too now that "daddy" isn't there to discipline 'em and promise severe punishment if "they" misbehave!
"They'd" be even more childish and scarier than they are now!
I'd keep my "sidearm" at the ready!
Qwark
*Now* extremely paranoid believers? The situation would be unchanged for many.
Don't forget the eternal loving and righteous torture for those who are scripted to 'behave.'
The Abrahamic mental toddlers are quite often the problem, not the solution.
There are many who woke up to find that there is indeed " no god"
And they did set about to rob and pillage only to find that there is no pleasure in it...
So what else is there to do...?
but get up do to it again and... again.... .and again.......
Just...enough...time...to...say...the...end!
Life will be the same, because God's death has nothing to do with our understanding of death...God's death might mean a new life! Life and death are not applicable to God.His ways are nor our ways, right?
I would apply for the job, I think I could handle the responsibility and power
are you saying that you believe the only thing standing between us and chaos is God? You are a man of great faith indeed.
What if, what you believe is awake, is not really awake but in all reality sleeping? How then do you awake from not really being awake only thinking you are?
What will you do if you die. God is not going to die. Worry about your own
soul. It is life after dealth. Every body is going to live forever some where.
Haven or hell. Where are you going? The way to haven is Jesus Christ.
I expect a few would only go so far as to say something along the lines of
"Well Buggar Me! He did exist in a literal form!"
what will you do if god dies?
It is a fallacy Allah- the Creator God is Immortal; He never dies.
there is no god. irrefutable proof of non-existence of god present to you, then what will you do is the question?
There are no such irrefutable proofs with the Atheists; neither science supports them nor religions; they are simply people in confusion and doubt. They can, however, enjoy their free will as others do.
there is no proof....
there is no rationale explanation for the existence of god.
however i was asking a hypothetical question and you are so brain washed and is even afraid to think so.....
@paar it is better to be confused than being convinced without proof...i may be convinced that snow man exist while some might be confused over it...but that doesnot make snow man exist...does it?
If it was confirmed by irrefutable evidence that God was dead, I think it would cause such a psychological trauma in believers, as to make them as hysterical as someone running around with their head on fire.
Since Allah- the Creator God does not die and He is always living; one can imagine the plight of the Atheist now.
First : To prove death we need a body. Do you have a writ of Habeus Corpus?
I shouldn't need a writ.
All I would need would be the Pope, and the religious leaders, along with international heads-of -state to tell you God is dead, and I'm sure that would suffice for habeus corpus. It has worked on you to this point--or don't you see that there is no "body" as proof of a God in the first place, but only religious leaders, flanked by the government, and parents brainwashing us with fear--think Santa Claus.
Our parents, along with government and religious leaders, convinced us that there was, indeed, a Santa, then they ALL, unanumously, asserted Santa is not real.
They control your thoughts on this matter. You have none of your own.
There is bound to be a fight over the Will.
It will have to go to court in the end, and the only winners will be the lawyers...
Yeah, look at the Howard Hughes battle when he died. Geuss the Mormons will be there. I think we'd all be disappointed...disinherited, one and all.
It will be rather packed, with standing room only, and many millions outside too.
The effects would be determines by which of the 100s of God to choose from, died. If it was Yahweh (about 50%) in my culture, it would be a highly emotion time. Since the word God is not our constitution , things would not go out of control that much. Per capita there are more Christians in jail than any other group and that would be reduced.
Like some of the words of John Lennon
Imagine there's no Heaven and No hell
Imagine all the people Living for today
Imagine there's no countries
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one
Never happen-as there's much profit in fomenting division.
"I come not to bring peace, but division, and a sword." John's vision can happen. We are supposed to get up off our arses and MAKE IT HAPPEN.
Yup - you cause nothing but division and wars. I agree with you for once.
Odd you are so scared you need to hide your identity.
I do? Thank you Mark, only our Father in heaven could have revealed that it's my fault! Like you to explain your "logic". Personally, I'd just walk away if I were you.
LOL
Yup - - blame it on every one else. That is why your religion disgusts me so much. You have no moral compass and are incapable of developing one. Hide who you are because you are so scared. No personal responsibility. Well done.
I bet many religious people will remain with their religion. The longer they have been a part of a religion, the more their brain will tell them there is a God still.
Nothing bad with it; Allah- the Creator God exists and always existed; He is immortal.
Yeah, I meant to say there is nothing wrong with it at all. I really respect religion and think there is nothing wrong with it(assuming we aren't talking about the whackos and just normal every day people). Religion is not something of interest to me, so I spend most of my time thinking about other things. I have come to find my own spirituality through learning about Astrology and what we are made of. It is very interesting, much more interesting than religion to me personally.
My whole family lives and breathes God, which I have come to understand will always be a part of their lives. If that is what they choose, I will embrace and support it.
So you have opted to be mythical; Astorlogy has no reality; it is neither supported by truthful science nor by truthful religion.
well what has robbing bank to do with god?...if you try to rob bank ,you would be behind the bars and god has nothing to do with it...for me god or no god doesnot change anything...i live life as per how i think i should and god equation doesnot come into it...so it makes no difference to me...
By any other name , A Rose is still a rose!.
By any other name, the source of life is still the source of life even when I call it God.
If the source of life were to die ? There will be no more life.
By any other name, an egg still tastes like an egg.
Is irrevocable evidence that there is no God the same thing as God being dead? If I found evidence that there were no God, it wouldn’t surprise me. If I found evidence that God had died, well then, that would prove that he actually existed to begin with, how else could he have died? But that still wouldn't surprise me very much. It might make me question how great a God was he, if he could die.
Nietzsche and the "Death of God" movement back in the 60s have both already told us God was dead.
However, God doesn't have to be dead for people to go robbing banks and killing each other. All through history people have killed and been killed in the name of God.
Geuss I'll have to move outta his place and get my own apartment.
Like that? Cool. I'm getting known for my comments.
Just got home; wanted to check and see, YEP ...; the insanity hasn't died.
If I woke up to find god dead I would call the council and get them to bury it on the beach quick beofre it began to stink the place up.
There is talk going around that if God was among us in human form, and claimed to be God, nobody would believe it, and that person would probably be jailed. And, then forced to create some kind of Miracle to prove that they are god. And the people won't settle for the whole turning water into wine, or walking on water, or faith healing. They'll expect something big. like a foot of snow in the desert, or Hawaii something like that.
I don't think anything would happen if they found God dead. Unless there is going to be some catastrophic result. People will just go on about their day like normal, as if he was a real person, I don't think it would be that big a deal. More like the death of a pope, or a celebrity. people would mourn and move on.
I don't think God being an actual person would not go over with Christians, as a lot of them would most likely assume that because he is god, he can't die. As, in he will just rise again.
Just as they have believed about Christ since he died on the cross. So maybe what you are talking about already happened.
Just like when Jesus died on the cross, hundreds of people watched, and when it was over, they all went home. Wouldn't be any different today.
Let's see. There wasn't a god until a few thousand years ago when humans invented religion. If god is no longer beleived in anymore, life goes on.
For the sake of sanity, it is better not to give holy books any relevaat all, because they are all absurd.nce
So many flaws with this one, hard to figure out where to begin. By all philosophical/theological definitions of God, his death would be impossible.....So even broaching the topic of God's death is ill-conceived and impossible to contemplate....surprised so many even attempted an answer...Oh wait I am one of them?!
I think it would be more impressive, convincing and revealing if Aliens landed
Nobody will believe God died
the question is what will you do if there is no god. few people even realize what the question is. as usual believers are here with drivel instead of answering the simple question-what they will do if there is no god. of course brain washed people can never think for themselves so i am not surprised no believer answered to the point.....
or is it because they have to agree they are immoral without their god or will they continue to be moral(or goes on with their life as usual) in spite of their god.
There are many reasons why Christian will hang on to God. The greatest one that stands out in my mind is the fear of going to hell, even though it takes a lottery ticket to get to heaven. Since God is invisible, there would be no evidence to prove God is dead, so no matter what you or I say, they won't believe you or I
As for Christian morals, per capita there are more Christians in jail, than in any other group. I prefer ethics and kindness as a guild in order to stay away from hell on earth.
i think I have some sort of magnet within me that only attracts creepy stalkers that I would never be attracted to. Ugh. Well, when I say stalker, I don't mean literal. I don't have any guys peaking in my...
If and when I hear one fine morning that there is no God or God has died, I will try to enquire about the age of the God when he died... ie., when was he born?

What is the best way to explain the existence of God to an atheist?I've heard people try to convince atheists that there is a God by quoting the Bible or some other holy book. But quoting from such materials won't work. You have to believe in them before you can accept them as plausible...

Many believers like to say that Atheists should prove that there is no God. Believers should know that existence has to be proved, not the non-existence. If a thing exists, it is possible to prove its existence. So believers should prove the existence of God if he exists. But if they want to do it,...

Why do atheist and other none believers not accept as proof human existenceIncluding them ?I ask this question because atheist are persistent with this line prove that God existBut as they are given proof they persist to say the same words, example a husband and wife claims to love one...

Is it within its domain? The Creator-God is only attributive; all physical and/or spiritual things are His creation.

What if God does not exist? What if there is no God. What if he was the invention of humanity trying to control humanity. What if God is to people what Santa Claus is to kids - somebody not to piss off because you just wanna get your loot (or place in "Heaven") in the end.
by Thom Carnes 15 years ago
A few weeks ago I asked what I thought was quite a serious, searching question about the existence of God, and was rather disappointed when it got a very limited response. (This could have been because we were all wrestling this other equally important issues at the time.)Peter Lopez made a valiant...
