Hello Peggy!
Beautiful presentation of these gorgeous murals. I loved each one of them. As you have mentioned, they are no longer there, and that’s sad. I like this creativity on the walls. It requires lot of artistic skills to create them.
These murals can easily be used to showcase the folk arts, culture and festivals of that particular region, where they are created.
Thank you for sharing this wonderful article. I enjoyed reading it.
The murals are attractive and cheerful. It's a shame that they've disappeared. I'm glad that Peggy photographed them. I had to smile when I read the Banksy quote.
Thank you, Peggy, for introducing Houston Heights Post Office Building decorated with murals. It's sad they no longer exist. So I am glad you had taken photos of them, allowing us to view them now, which is great. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Chitrangada for highlighting Peggy's work.
What beautiful artwork! I love the quaint feel of Houston Heights and it's architectures. Looks like a wonderful place to live.
Thanks for sharing Chitrangada and Peggy!
Hi Chitrangada,
Thanks for sharing these photos of the murals that used to exist on that post office building in the Houston Heights. There are several buildings around our city like that. They exist until new buildings take their place. While sad to see the murals disappear, at least they add color and interest to the neighborhood for a time.
I lived in Houston for more than two decades, and Peggy's articles make me want to come back to view so many things I had not seen. You do a great job, Peggy of showing off Houston. Thank you.
Hi Linda,
I am glad to know that you liked the Banksy quote. I did also. It is fun to remember what used to be there on that post office building before it was razed in the sake of progress. Thanks for leaving a comment.
Peggy, I thoroughly enjoyed reading your hub. All of the photos of these graffiti murals are super stunning. I also liked Carla H. Krueger's quote. Art surely has the ability to communicate with us more effectively than words can. Every color and tone has a deeper meaning than we know. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Chitra Di for sharing Peggy's wonderful article
Blessings and Lots of Love to both of you!!
Peggy
I've missed reading your work.
You always take us on a time travel...in this case with an old post office that came to serve another useful purpose.
We have some around my neck of the woods, but it isn't graffiti.
It's an actual painting.
There are several by a man who is no longer alive.
Thanks for the share.
Hi Rosina,
These murals were only temporary and never intended to last. That being said, I am glad that I took the photos of them so that anyone who got to see them can remember them, or even those who did not see them can know about them. These graffiti mural artists have other works around our fair city. I am pleased that you enjoyed learning about them.
Hi bravewarrior,
Yes, the Houston Heights is a great place to live assuming one can afford it. It has a small town homey feel to it, yet has nearby access to all the perks of being so close to nearby entertainment and recreation sites. So happy you enjoyed learning about it.
Hi Dora, That is a compliment coming from a former Houstonian. I'm so pleased you liked reading this.
Hi Misbah,
Agreed that the colors carry meanings that the artist tries to convey. It may or may not mean the same thing to those who view it, but it can be fun to see and perhaps interpret. The "LOVE" meaning is one that is easily interpreted. I'm glad you enjoyed reading this and seeing those colorful graffiti murals. Enjoy the balance of your weekend.
The arts are nice. I like the colors they chose. They are pleasing to the eyes. I've always enjoyed your Houston-related articles. You take us on a tour of the place, both past, and present.
I am so glad you captured photos of these wonderful murals before the buildings were replaced, Peggy. Thank you for sharing another piece of Houston with us. Thank you for sharing the link, Chitrangada.
Hi Brenda, It would be fun to see that painting on a post office building in your area. Could you take a photo of it and perhaps work it into one of your Word prompts?
Hi Eric,
I agree that the colors used in these graffiti murals were vibrant and colorful. I am so pleased that you enjoy the tours of the Houston metro areas, both past and present. Thanks for your feedback.
Hi John, I am also happy that I got to take photos of these murals before the building was razed and replaced. Now they are documented for some history of this area in the Houston Heights.
