Thanks for the information Christy! This was a fun online experiment and it did not take long at all.
This was challenging and inspiring. I really enjoyed taking the survey. However, I could not save the results of my profile, there seems to be no option for that. Other than that little disappointment, I found it to be fun.
Re: "However, I could not save the results of my profile, there seems to be no option for that."
Never-mind: I found that I had to go to the bottom arrow to scroll right to click on 'Next' till I got to the end and could click on 'Submit' and download the results. Silly ol' me.
To save mine Phyllis, I had written my story in Word first. For the "Inner Writer Study" I use hold "ctrl+D", choose where I want to keep it and click "Save" or "Done", whichever is on the bottom.
Nice! It didn't take long and it was an interesting challenge.
That was interesting. It didn't take long, and it was kind of fun.
I agree. It was an enjoyable and stimulating challenge. It will keep your grey matter in the pink and you'll come away learning a little bit about yourself and your writing. On the last page you can give them your email address and they'll send you a copy of the report when the study is concluded.
Peace, -TDowling
This is an interesting exercise and I participated, because I don't write much fiction and was curious. It gave me my first taste of writing flash fiction and I like it!
The experience has encouraged me to read more of the fiction on HubPages as well.
The writing profile provided at the end of the survey turned out to be much more accurate for me than I had expected, so I highly recommend participating in this study. It is challenging enough to be engaging and does not take much time.
I think the Positive Psychology Center at the University of Pennsylvania is on to something good!
Cheers!
I just finished and I found it interesting and useful as well. Loved the flash fiction part and watching how easily that part came to me when it is not a way of writing I normally approach.
I was happy to come across this. I participated last night before I went to bed, and it was a really neat experience. I have never taken a creative writing class. So, the information given was great to receive. I like the idea of all writers having a thinking, giving and healing component in writing. -pretty cool, and I agree.
I enjoyed that! I was surprised at how quickly I was able to think up a plot for my flash fiction piece. Thank you for telling us about this, Christy!
I did the survey, and I agree, it was thought provoking, and a good creative exercise, and I hope, hope, hope I win a prize!
Should we all post our flash fiction stories here? Would that be allowed? Or any other ideas for sharing those? I am curious to see what people did with that.
You are certainly welcome to post your flash fiction for others to read, but I recommend you create a new forum thread for it and post a link to that thread here.
Thanks Christy, I'm not sure if anyone has done that yet, will check now.
I started a thread:
Flash Fiction

Have the winners for the $25 gift card been chosen?
I like the idea of posting the flash fiction stories at a Hubpages board. If someone does this, please provide a link here. Also did anyone save the photo that was used to stimulate our stories? That would be helpful to see.

I wonder if everyone was presented with the same photo???
I wish I had saved the photo but when I thought of it you couldn't go back.
I did not even think of saving the image. Darn ! My photo was a man standing in the middle of a city street with hundreds of shoes scattered all over the street. I thought of the shoes as memories of the people he had known along his path to success. What was your photo and what impression did it give you?
Same photo Phyllis, but quite a different interpretation. Loved your however.
Thank you, Jodah. Did you post a link to yours?
I had the same photo Phyllis, it sounds like we all did.
I thought that it was an interesting challenge to try it.
Yes it looks like we all had the same photo. When I started reading the stories everyone wrote, I noticed how all the stories seemed to follow a pattern, almost like following a storyline. I don't think they and this intention, but a full length story can be put together from all the various flash fiction blurbs. Very interesting outcome.
I guess that answers it, then; we all got the same photo. I took my story in a very different direction; more sci-fi. ;-)
That was sort of fun. I've never tried flash fiction; I found the word limitation to be the hardest part. I'm not known for brevity.
This "Inner Writer Study" was a very educational experience. It didn't take much time at all, and I ended up being creative with a flash fiction story.
This is something I never actually experimented with before, and yet, I found it easy with the method they taught - starting with thinking of a goal based on an image, then writing a short story leading to that goal. I posted my fiction story in the other forum.
I thought it was an interesting and enjoyable exercise. My writer profile was accurate, too. I especially enjoyed creating the flash fiction story. I'm going to try writing more flash fiction - it's fun!
Enjoyed this and got to write my first imaginative fiction in years

Does anybody know of a good and affordable online Masters of Creative Writing Course they can recommend? I'm ready to do my masters but don't want to do it in education, would rather do it in something I love.

What is the main difference between Flash Fiction and just a creative fiction short story?I am wondering exactly what is the difference between Flash Fiction and a regular creative fiction short story ... is it just that Flash Fiction is a lot shorter or a certain amount of words?

I have communicated with some flash fiction writers and others interested in writing ff, about beginning a forum for sharing and critiquing our ff stories prior to publishing on HubPages. My rationale for promoting this idea are threefold. Once the group is formed, rationale for it's...
