Are there any writers in your family?

   I did ask this question and got 6 responses.
   
   Found it interesting on how many of Hubbers family members [as far back as known] also were writers, so wanted to ask again

      None in generations before me (that I know of), but my son and daughter are good writers.   A nephew said he wants to write a book.  My own kids grew up seeing writing as something a lot of people "just do".  I, on the other hand, was seen as someone (the first in the family) who had that "kind of odd" interest in writing.   I'd like to think that I'll be leaving for my future grandchildren/great-grandchildren the kind of writing (about life and family and myself) I wish someone in my background had left for me to read.  (Of course, in fairness to people like my grandmothers; my grandmothers lived in a time when women used washboards to get the family laundry clean; and my grandparents weren't the kind to have someone else doing their family laundry for them.  So I guess even if they would have liked to write there probably wasn't time or energy for them.)

   Got 3 Nail Biters, 5 Ice Cream Lickers, 16 Worm Farmers, 1 - sorry now 0 Sky Diver, 7 That Can't Read, 5 That Can't Write and 9 are suffering from the fluid retention disease called Humpolitous, 3 with 1 leg shorter than the other 1 and 1 with 1 leg longer than the other 2!

   My mother was told in high school that she was a great writer and could continue on to be an author. However she never did anything about it.
   
   [I don't talk to her anymore.]
   
   I do find it amusing that she's recently started publishing on helium, and am glad that despite coming across it first, I ended up writing on hubpages!

   For years I thought it was just me. Recently I discovered that my mother has been writing things on self development and short stories about herself for several years.
   
   I am proud to say that I am related to the late Janet Reakes, famous Australian writer on genealogy.

   Yes, my sister is a freelance writer; my mother wrote for a local newspaper; my granddaughter is a writer in the making and received her first Honorable Mention Award from the Writers Digest Annual Contest just recently.  She is 10 years old !!!! (Beat her grandmother out who received NOTHING for her submissions, LOL)

   My uncle was the city editor at a major metropolitan newspaper for years.  His son (my cousin) has a kind of journalism job at the state capital.  His other son is also talented at writing, but makes a living as an architect.
   
   My grandma was a good writer and storyteller, and once won a short story contest sponsored by a big newspaper.
   
   My niece works as a copy editor for her university's daily newspaper, and will graduate with a degree in journalism.
   
   I feel sure that my mom could have developed a writing talent as well, but she never pursued it.

    I wouldn't really say any of my family are writers, whether published or not.  My grandpa, who was a war veteran, used to regularly publish articles in the local newspaper.  That's all. 
    
    I think it would be neat if someday I became the first in my family to have a book published.

    I knew my great grandfather wrote novels, but just learned my grandfather on my mothers side did as well before he passed.

    My sister loves writing poetry and has been writing poems for many years. She’s never tried to get them published, but I’m trying to persuade her to put them on HubPages.
