What happens to my Hubs and Google revenue if I die?

   I know this is probably a morbid question but I was wondering what happens if I die? What happens to my hubs and the revenue from them? Can I will the income to one of my sons?
   
   Just wondering.....trust me to think of weird stuff like this..lol..
   
   
   (and actually that should read "when I die"...inevitable. isn't it?)

      Not quite sure but I have all my websites and revenue producing accounts listed as part of my estate in my will.  I had to list the names of all the accounts, user names, and passwords.

      Just like anything else you own, if you don't make provisions for it in your will, these things will get lost in the shuffle.

      As the others said, you need to have a will.  Otherwise it depends on Hubpages and your heirs working things out.

      Great question, Dorsi. I hadn't thought about this at all. Residual income is based on an asset (in this case a body of Hubs), and any asset can be transferred in a will so that the heirs now own the asset and thus enjoy the income. But I wonder about the mechanics for doing this, and if HP has any experience with this. It would be helpful to know.

      I have a notepad with all my revenue-earning sites and their passwords. 
      
      The way I figure it, so long as my partner can log into my Adsense and Paypal accounts and change the bank account details, no one need know he's not me.
      
      The only problem would be affiliates who pay me by direct debit, but that's not enough money to be worth worrying about at this point.

   I have wondered, too.  If no one takes over the account and keeps some activity going, won't it die a natural death in a few months?  Hubber score going down till links are worthless, etc.?

      HubScores are not dependent on constant activity.  I've not published any Hubs for weeks to months at a time, and still watched my traffic and earnings go up.

            I dont think so.. I hadnt been online for months and my score wasnt much different and I still earned money and traffic...

            On my other account, I have not posted a hub on since January,  I have only responded to a few comments, and the score remains about 92.   The traffic continues to rise, and when I last checked backlinks, they had increased.

                  Hi nanospeck.  I have used Yahoo Site Explorer, just the Explore URL, at the top of the page.  It will tell you how many backlinks you have and where they come from.

   This is such an interesting question but in a way, a practical one that we all just don't talk about. It's definitely a good idea to put it in writing, especially if you want your kids to have it by the time "you die"...

   Put in your will that you want to have 100% of your Hubs donated to me. I promise I will save everything, delete it, and return it to hubpages under my name within a month.

   If you set up your account TOD, including HP articles and revenue, you do not include HP hubs in your will, hence, bypassing probate, probate costs, and probate wait. All additional hubs are covered under the TOD umbrella. One simple step saves your heirs headaches later.
   
   TOD means Transfer on Death. It works in a similar manner as beneficairies listed on a retirement plan or annuity.
   
   Your attorney can handle the details. It is a low-cost solution for many people looking to transfer assets from their estate.

      Thanks for that suggestion. But what sort of income would it be for the heirs? I know we have to pay social security on our affiliate income, even if we haven't touched the source in years. But surely the heirs are not going to have to declare this as earned income?

    I would trust KeithTax's assessment BUT it is my understanding that many of the affiliate relationships you create are between YOU and the aff, officially it would be terminated upon your death. I would guess none would never know you had died and would continue paying - which just leaves you with the issue of whether the money is being sent to an active bank account and whether checks to you are still cashable.
    
    Based on that general assumption, I have started to create new agreements with my incorporated entity as the affiliate partner and have all proceeds being directed to a joint bank account for now (so funds will continue to be deposited upon my death) and have proper estate planning and such planned for the corporation.
    
    Some affiliates keep up to date w-2's , failure to give the info (after you die) would result in failure to receive payment even if it was piling up in your online account
    
    Im guessing, the services that ask for tax-ids - could possibly be notified that they are paying a dead person when they file taxes? - and then stop paying.
    
    
    I keep an encrypted database of all passwords and logins with secret questions, urls - etc. for my important partnerships, also a hard copy in a safe - between the two, I would hope my beneficiaries could keep earning from my efforts.
    
    hmmm... even your websites !- your domains could expire, so auto-renew should be enabled and the money should come out of an account that will exist after your death! Your hosts could go out of business or you could fail to renew (because your dead).. lots of details - i would have missed that one, if I hadnt responded here
    
    
    so many small steps could be skipped! VERY detailed instructions on how to manage your empire would have to be included in your will/estate planning
    
    (im totally skipping any legal or tax concepts because I wouldnt know w/o direct advisement and my main concern would be to keep the income perpetual and accessible )
