I'm going to VEGAS! Can you give me some tips/tricks/warnings/etc.?

It's true, I'm officially taking off to Vegas this weekend to represent HubPages at one of the largest blogging and new media conventions in the world, Blog World and New Media Expo. Yeah, I know...pretty sweet, eh?
So, while I'm out there I'm going to be communicating the awesomeness of HubPages, which involves a type of 'HubPages Vegas Bag O' Goodies' that will include some different things that make HubPages such a great place to write.
One of the things that I emphasize is the fact that we have an amazing community of writers who truly love writing, reading and mingling on HubPages. Well, to show people how our community can be helpful, I came up with the idea of all of us Hubbers coming up with short, informative and funny Vegas tips/warnings/recommendations/etc. that I can include in the bag that I end up giving to people this weekend.
These should be no more than 2-3 sentences that give the person reading them some advice, information or just a good laugh when they read them. I'll add one Hubber's Vegas thoughts in each bag, so the more that I can get, the better. Also, they don't need to specifically be for Vegas, they can also just be tips on playing cards, gambling or how to make some money playing craps.
For example, I could say:
'MGM Grand and The Mirage both have WAR tables, which are great for playing when you've a few too many free drinks in the casino.'
or
'Craps is your best best when making money, assuming that you didn't just learn to play it by watching your hotel room TV.'
I know that we can come up with some good ones, so give 'em to me and thanks for your help!

When you're there for the full Vegas experience, make sure you stay at one of the hotels on the Strip! My personal recommendation is the Luxor (that's the pyramid hotel with the beam of light shooting from the top!)
Keep in mind that Las Vegas is seriously busy - but most of the stuff on the Strip can be walked to - save a few bucks and forget renting a car - there are lots of ways to get around once you've dumped your bags at the hotel.

P.S. I haven't been to Vegas in about thirty years-- most of the hotels I visited have been blown up.- 100

If you ever are in Southern California there are several casinos on major Indian reservations that offer gambling and entertainment on par with Las Vegas. I have been to Las Vegas a couple of times and it is okay, but most of us prefer to just go to one of the local casinos where you can get many of the same amenities and spend less, consider gas, airfare, hotels etc. Last March I had wanted to go to the Moody Blues concert at Casino Pechanga, but work interfered with this event. When we go to a local casino it is just a once in a blue moon day trip, but I must admit I enjoyed the buffets. Casino Morongo actually had a better buffet than several of the ones I had went to in Las Vegas. There is nothing wrong with Las Vegas and there are many interesting things to do, such as the shows and the Coca Cola museum, but honestly I would rather go to local casinos that support the Native American tribes, which give that give back to the community in the form of jobs and donations for local schools.

Hubby and I went to the Santa Fe Casino and had a blast! We gambled all day and into the night (14 hours total) on $30 each! Most fun I had in years! We didn't need to stay in a hotel since we were on a big truck with our own living quarters lol. Just gambled, drank and then crashed! It was awsome! And if you play the slots, make sure to find out where all the noise is. Over the years I have noticed that if it is quiet on certain rows, it usually stays that way lol. If you can, always max bet! Found out the hard way when I hit a progressive jackpot on one coin!

BonnieI did a lot of communication tower climbing work on microwaves in Vegas. In spite of the desert naturally being thought of as hot... those towers sure get cold in the winter time up top.
I've stayed all over at just about every hotel. The silverton was the gig for me though. They had some groovy choppers that OCC built for the casino and the food was decent.
For a "rough-neck" tower climber, Vegas is my kind of town. Work all day, gamble and drink all nite... wake up hung over and climb towers all day long. Wash and repeat every night of the week for many months and you've got the recipe for speed thrills and fun. Taste death... live life!I always have a great time at Ghost Bar. It's in The Palms.

You know those cards that all of the guys are trying to give you on the strip...? Yeah, all of the girls aren't really that hot. I mean...that's what I hear...

North Vegas, where I lived for a for month is so great for hiking and starry skies
FATBURGER!!!!! In & Out BURGER!!!!
The Vintage & Phunky Phassions of THE ATTIC is nuts for the shoppers.
Odyssey Records is killer too.
THEME PARK just outside of vega$ called BUFFALO BILL'S
The Sports Complex was FREAKIN INSANE too!
I recommend looking at Vegas from the Outside looking in.
It helps keep the strip in perspective.
there's more to NYC than Times Square, ya know what I mean?
In casinos, keep that ID handy, yer gunna need it!

As Gamergirl said - walk, walk, walk! If you have time for a trip out, the Hoover Dam and the Grand Canyon are both worth a visit. And don't, on any account, take anything seriously!
The BEST breakfast in Las Vegas can be found at the Blueberry Hill Family Restaurant - (702) 382-3330 -1723 E Charleston Blvd, Las Vegas, NV 89104.
If you have the time, the best show in town is still The Blue Man Group at the Venetian.
If the "sky" in the Venetian starts to look too real...you've had too much to drink.
What happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas. If you marry that person, chances are they're going to follow you home.
Take a nap during the day. All the good stuff happens after dark.
Those are my Las Vegas tips!

Vegas is the best.
First thing you do is to go S Las Vegas Blvd just after Mandalay Bay—look to the middle of the boulevard to see the famous sign “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada.” There’s a place to park in the middle to take pictures. Go to Paris buffet—most people who work in Vegas say it’s the best (for seafood buffet with lobster tails go to Rio – though there’s nothing else in this hotel for guys--girls go to Chip N Dale show).
When you have time – get a cup of coffee at the northern entrance of Bellagio, the one after Caesars Palace, and find a good spot to enjoy the Fountains of Bellagio. There’s a great coffee house facing fabulous waterfall at Wynn.
If you are tired of expensive food, you can visit OJ Simpson’s favorite, Palace Station. Open a players card (it’s free) and you’ll get an all you can eat dinner buffet for $8. I heard a bellman at the PS is a witness at the new OJ trial.
Say you accidentally decide to get married in Vegas and you have $265 to spare—there’s a drive-through wedding window at Tunnel of Love Drive-Through Wedding Chapel, Address: 1301 Las Vegas Blvd. South, phone: 800-545-8111.
But before getting married, you should visit the Marriage License Bureau at 3d street downtown. It’ll take you no more than 20 minutes for the license. You’ll need one ID to prove your identity and nothing else except $50. You might be surprised on your way out of the bureau, when they give you a $100 offer for a wedding that includes flowers, professional photos, champagne, wedding dress, and a free limo ride from the hotel to the chapel.
A great game is the Big Six and at the newest hotel, the Palazzo, the minimum is only a dollar. You can play for hours with $50 and it’s fun.
Vegas is also a great place for shopping—the Forum Shops at Caesars, the Fashion Show right across Wynn. But my favorites are the two big outlet centers—one on N Las Vegas Blvd and one on the S Las Vegas Blvd. All taxi drivers know them.
Never visit the Terrible’s Casino—it’s really terrible. And always take care of people, cause Vegas is a kick-back city.- 95
