Ok, so maybe Paul Deeds didn't really fire me because of Frank using his book bag as a bathroom one too many times, but it is in fact true that I'm going to be leaving HubPages for another job here in the Bay Area. Believe me, it wasn't a very easy decision for me to make and I will forever miss all of the HubPages staff, the community (that's you guys) and even all of the crazy stuff that seems to be going on in the religion forums every day (not really) once I move on to my next gig.
I've had so much fun the past year and a half with all of you and it's been amazing to see HubPages grow to the size that it has and to see how awesome the community has become since I've been here. However, like they say -- all good things must come to an end and my last official day as a member of the HubPages staff will be next Wednesday, November 25th.
For most of you Hubbers out there, it will seem like business as usual until then, but behind the scenes we are making sure that no one will miss a beat once I take off. Part of this transition will mean that the always fabulous Miss Maddie Ruud and my marketing partner in crime Jason Menayan will be now be assisting the various team initiatives, such as the HubNuggets, HubMob and the 30 Day HubChallenge. I know that they will rock, so I'm really excited and feel very comfortable with them stepping in after I leave.
Besides that, I'll still be around until next week and will definitely pop my head in here and there to see what's going on, so you're not getting rid of me that easily.
So, if you don't mind, I have just two more requests from all of you awesome Hubbers that I hope you can help me out with:
1. If you would, please tell me some of the things that you would miss most about HubPages if you were to suddenly be time warped to another place or another time and could never get on HubPages again. If it happened to me, I would miss all of the crazy characters that on a daily basis write even crazier Hubs, comments and forum posts. Also, I would miss all of the great Hubbers that have such amazing stories to tell and things to write about and share. We have a very unique community, don't you think?
2. Check out this link that has some more information about me leaving and how it's going to affect the day to day operations at HubPages.
Thanks again for everything and don't worry, I'll be around.
I wish you much success in your future endeavor.
Ryan, best of luck on the next part of your journey. I'm sure you're going to take a lot of memories from your time here!
If I were timewarped away from HP, I would definitely miss the great opportunities to write and publish hubs with such a user friendly publishing platform, even for newbies. I would also miss seeing my hubscore... and reading the amazing hubs here!
wishing you the best~~
Perhaps you are the one slashing Hubscores. Then, this community will rejoice and shout, Hallelujah! Special commendation to you and everybody who are behind this great site. Wish you well.
C'mon Ron... Right when I get to start being a good guy as well, you're going to remind me I still have to be the bad guy too?
You better be glad you're a Colts fan.
(I'm originally from Indianapolis, IN)
Cool. I'll let it slide this time, but no more false postings of leaving HP!
Me too! You can't leave Ryan! You are one of the kings of Hubpages
Hehe Ron. See I would miss silly funny comments like that. The support and kind words of others... The feedback, comments, and appreciation of my writing... and of course its because of the people.
For the record, guys, this is actually serious. I know, when I heard I thought Hup was joking. We're going to miss him.
Yep, it's true. I've never really been great at making things any sadder than they need to be or at being serious, so this is my best attempt at telling all of you that I'm leaving HubPages and that all of you rock the house (and will be missed).
Ryan, the link is great. It is important for everyone to know this. You will truly be missed.
We are so going to miss you Ryan, you are part of the fixtures and fittings here. Sincerely hope you do keep on checking in:)
To answer your question, I would miss the banter, the thrill of publishing hubs and the friends I have made here on hubpages, so hopefully that "Timewarp" 'aint coming any time soon .
LOL re-the link too, not what I was expecting at all
Well Ryan, if I had to leave for good I would miss being able to write online. I still have yet to venture out into other mediums online for writing, I would also miss the forums and the great hubs people have.
Hope you best on your next job. I always looked for your get suggestions in the questions section. I will miss them too lol.
I take it you will be making more money at your next job, making your life better so I can't help but be happy for you!
Until you come back and we cross paths again if we do,
~thranax~
Really sorry to see you go, Ryan-- but happy if it is a good move for you.
You are a first class encourager-- and I know that a lot of the HubPages growth in the past couple of years had a lot to do with your efforts and awesomeness.
(I thank you personally for your help.)
Wishing you all the best stuff!
That's right. Hup is SO awesome that he was helping HubPages' growth before he even came to work here last year
Okay, maybe not. But certainly, his awesomeness will continue to resound for years to come.
Is it April fools day? I thought it was November.
You will be missed Ryan. Best of luck in your future endeavors.
Thank you Ryan... hehehe hope you're not joking though..
Good luck Ryan on your next endeavor. Keep on writing here on hubpages so we won't miss you.
Hey Ryan. So sad to see you go. Aren't you still going to hub even if you leave HubPages Admin? We're definitely going to miss your wacky posts, and the news and everything else . Good luck with your new job .
I am sad you are such a wonderful part of HP and I feel like we are losing a family member. grrrrrrr
What I would miss most about HP if I were time warped into space would be the friends that I met and the community itself. I will miss you Ryan and I wish you all of the best!
wow! newly married. new work changes. exciting times for you.
BEST wishes in all that you do!
Before you go you need to publish one more hub so you can have an even 50.
I'm sure the office will miss the dynamic duo of Ryan and Frank as much as the community will.
Our community won't be the same without you and Frank! Gonna miss both of you!
As for being time warped: would miss the whole community, especially friends and the friendly (and, yes, the not so friendly) banter. Would also miss writing and sharing with the community.
Good luck Hup!
Perhaps Frank could do a hub using Ryan's profile, and telling us why he too will miss Hubpages!!
Hi Ryan , what made you decide to leave the job at Hubpages. Is it personal. I cannot understand what could be more attractive to you than being a hubpages staff.
If it was me , i would decide to spare atleast 1-2 hours a day with hubpages as a parttime worker , rather than resigning and leaving all your contacts and fans alone.
Paul you should try giving a 1000$ salary hike and A Mercedes Benz as Christmas Gift to make Ryan stay with Hubpages for ever. Especially as he is a unique person. If he leaves the seat , no one can replace his presence.
Dang, Ryan - is it because I asked for your help a couple of weeks ago? Was it my interview? Did I offend you? Don't go!!
You will be sorely missed! I wish you all the best, my friend!
Seeing as how I've now pulled all my other "Internet horns" and limited myself to HubPages as my only writing outlet for the nonce, reckon I'd at least miss being able to use words like "nonce" and get away with it.
Happy Trails, Hup.
I hope you enjoy the new gig as much as you did this one Hup. Good luck.
We'll miss you, Ryan
Here's to everything good wherever you've decided to go!
OK don't tell us your going into partnership with your wife ! (~)
Yes you will indeed be missed !
p.s. Hope you can drop by and give us one of your informative hubs when you can
We'll all miss you very much, Ryan. Lots of changes for you this year, but "La plus ca change..." (sorry, the cedilla under the "c" just didn't translate )
Maddie and Frank will make a great team to take up your torch!
I would miss writing/publishing in this great community, and I would miss the people who make it up.
Best of luck to you and yours where ever you go! Stop in any time!
...as for the link - you are one class act, my friend! Back atcha!
A great loss for Hubpages but I'm sure you'll be spending a lot of your spare time here with the Hubpages community.
One cannot just walk away from all these amazing people and just pretend they don't exist.
Good luck for the future I'm sure that you will be successful in whatever you choose to do.
you better pop in here and double, triple check our progress what do we do with Hup withdrawal cases? you will have to leave Frank amidst us for comfort
If I ws to leave, well, I probably would miss learning something new and the reading and entering that Hub trance.
Please do not forget us I think the sunlight follows you around or you have one awesome blinding halo. Hope to see you soon and have fun in your new job.
Sad Loss Ryan
Good Luck on the road to your destiny.
And if that road brings you downunder.. I'll endorse your nomination for Mayor of BumbleTown - NZ.
Kia Kaha.
We are going to miss you so much. I hope you will still drop by and say hi from time to time. In the meantime, I'll still follow you (and Frank) on Facebook
Good luck with your new job.
Hmmm...just checked out the video...
This is sad but I wish you all the best in your future adventures.
Sad to see you go and best of luck! Hope you'll pop in on us all from time to time.
Its Very difficult to find words to say goodbye to a Hubpages Legend so i will just say it Goodbye Ryan and of course good luck to you and your wife I wish you the best from your endevours.....jimmy
Pugs are troublemakers!
But can't you at least leave him anyway?
Best of the world in your job and the year to come too!, We will miss you, I always read your posts and comments plus suggestions. I prepare a "good luck" specifically for you, (POLKA DOT red shirt and Beer)! YAY....
Best of fortune in what lies ahead for ya'...Ryan...All Y'all at HP Staff HQ seem like some great folks to be running this here...crazy show. Anyone in need of a slightly kooky/ to somewhat-too-serious "Manly Poet"...just give the 'ol e-mail a ring...!?
Please give that dog of yours a pat on the head "goodbye" for me , Ryan...would'cha...? (That's a slight "Texan-ish" reference and not a misspelled word...HP Folks......I can spell!)
I think that I speak on the behalf of all Hubbers when I say that you will be missed, Ryan. You truly are one of a kind. This place won't be the same without you. You've helped so many of us as an integral component to HubPages, overall.
Whatever road you travel, I hope you do leave bread crumbs just so you do find your way back
Best of luck to you. I'm sure you'll be a success wherever you do endeavor to go. I hope Frank likes his home
Ryan,
It's sad to see ya go! You're one of the funniest hubteam members around, and I wish you and Frank the best of luck!
It's a crazy world out there, don't forget to write..and send us pix of the bay!
Ryan!Sad to hear that you are leaving but all the best with future endevours!
Well, I didn't really get to know you well, but you are obviously respected by hubbers who do. I wish you all the best in the new gig. Its never easy to make a decision to move on, but change [at any age] is inevitable. Even though I haven't been around for long I thank you for all you've done and hope you are leaving on a positive note.
Cheers,
Carmen
Wow, Ryan, don't you know no one ever really leaves Hubpages?
Best wishes for your new moves.
HP wont be the same without you.
Hope you still come back fom time to time ryan! Good luck in your new adventure!
Toodles! I hardly knew ye... because I never spoke to you before. But best of luck anyway!
From what I gather from this thread, you must have been very popular here. Go well and may God bless you in whatever you undertake to do for yourself.
