   It means you were abducted by aliens at a young age and the life you think you are living is actually an alien virtual world which you leave when you sleep and what you think are dreams are actually residual memories of the actual life you are living on an alien planet. This is the same planet George Lucas (who was also an alien abduction victim) "dreamed" of when he designed the pub scene in star wars.

   This could simply mean that sub-consciously your body is still craving both drinking and smoking.  Don't let a dream change what you are doing to stay sober, and don't feel guilty of drinking and smoking in a dream!

   It means you wish you had never stopped and you'd give anything to still be smoking and drinking.
   I speak from experience.  I stopped smoking ten years ago, and drinking 2 years ago.  I don't mind the no-drinking too much, but whenever I see a group of smokers relegated to 9 yards away from a building, I casually stroll very, very, close to them and inhale very deeply.

   I think it just means that your brain still has those memories attached to it. I quit smoking in the past and dreamt about it several times. It didn't make me want to smoke again, in fact quite the opposite. I then remembered how stinky and bad for my health it was. The dreams kind of made me laugh, like I was challenging my own mind, but it happens.

   I have this smoking dreams 13 years later.
   
   I think it is a suppressed subconscious fear you may start smoking again.

   Quite simply, habits/attachments die hard. They have a significant effect on your grey matter; thus, they will indeed manifest themselves in your state of sleep. a time when your brain is least distracted (by the way). I would not discern anything else from this. However, way to go  Lad; stick with the extinction of unhealthy habits...

   I think that is the perfect alternative to actual drinking and smoking.  Were you a little buzzed when you woke up?  I don't think that's safe if you drive in the morning.

    I had the same dreams after I quit. I refused to pick up the habit again, then I found out about vapor cigarettes. I use that the contain the urges and it worked great for me. I even opened my own shop for them!

    It might mean you're worried about starting again. Over here we've got a ban on smoking in public places such as pubs, offices, restaurants etc. That still leaves the temptation towards booze, but pubs and bars sell many other drinkables besides alcohol. My wife barely ever touches alcoholic drinks except at special events and even then it's just little more than a thimbleful of wine. Myself I've never been that much of a drinker (the economic factor has a lot to do with it, as well as restrictions on alcohol intake for drivers). I prefer my freedom of movement to emptying glasses as a hobby.

    I quitted drinking pretty many years ago by now, which was a great decision. I define myself being an alcoholic, so accordingly, today a sober alcoholic. I have strongly worked on the concept that it is zero alcohol that is the answer for a person like me and even though I may not have walked too high up on the alcoholism ladder, I am still an alcoholic even if I just took the lower steps. Being aware of that alcoholism is a progressive decease I knew it will just get worse, so I stopped. I have no desire for drinking today, even when I have these really bad days or something very tough has happened, I have not the slightest thought of, or desire for drinking, which I am very grateful for. I believe this is thanks to a long term programming of going to AA (Anonymous Alcoholics) meetings and really get into my mind that drinking will never solve anything and that it is a progressive phenomenon. So if I drink, I will just continue on the path where I earlier stopped. And I never want to go there again! But, I do occasionally dream that I am drinking, and when I wake up I am so happy it was just a dream . So I don't believe at all that I have a wish to drink, like some suggested here, but more likely having an unconscious fear of alcohol that appears in my dreams. I don't dream about it very often, but it happens once in a while.
