What is your favourite quotation?
I have so many and one that always sticks with me is the final paragraph of Dickens', A Tale of Two Cities, "It is a far, far better thing that I do than I have ever done; It is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known." You maybe need to have read the novel...
In a light hearted sense, Sir Winston Churchill had such an amazing sense of humour and when a prim and proper lady once suggested he was drunk at a dinner, he immediately replied, "Yes, madam - but you are ugly and I shall be sober in the morning..."
Hope to hear some good ones...
"Do'st though love life? The don't waste time cause that's the stuff life's made of." -Benjamin Franklin, "Aphorisms"
"Reciprocation leads to Appreciation!"- J.S.Matthew
"Tolerance is the Key to Peace; Understanding is the Doorway"- J.S.Matthew
Sorry, I had to add my own in there!
Great question!
JSMatthew~
"All that is neccessary for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing." and "Education is the cheap defense of nations."-Edmund Burke
"Sure, this robe doth change my disposition."-William Shakespeare: A Winter's Tale
I have several too. But the first that came to my mind when reading the question were two war leaders prayers and command.
Oliver Cromwell's prayer before the Battle of Naseby, in the English Civil War "Lord, thou knows I must be busy this day. Though I may forget thee, Do not forget me!" He led the Parliamentary forces to defeat King Charles I at that battle.
Horatio Nelson signal to the British fleet at Trafalgar, October 21, 1805. "England expects every man this day to do his duty." The Royal Navy then proceeded to defeat the combined French and Spanish fleets and secure British naval supremacy for the next 100 years.
"Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere" - Albert Einstein
"Do not pray for easy lives, pray to be stronger men" - JFK
"I'd rather regret the things I've done than regret the things I haven't done" - Lucille Ball
I can't remember this one exactly, or who said it but it's something like 'Do not judge a man by his past, judge him on the challenges that face him'. Can anyone help with that one?
My favorite is from Maya Angelou.
"When people show you who they are, believe them."
“Put some faith in me, and some day you’ll see,
There’s a diamond under all this dust.
I ain’t as good as I’m going to get.
But I’m better than I used to be.”
-Tim McGraw
"A mother’s love holds their child’s dreams".- This is mine.
"When you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."- Sherlock Holmes
There's also an original line a friend of mine came up with:
"I'm a vegetarian. Not because I love animals, but because I HATE plants."
"What we do in life, echoes in eternity" Russell Crowe in Gladiator.
My favourite so far is this "At the end of every journey there is always someone at the other side of the road, wishing he was part of the journey" but i have my own special quote too which i love to tell people about. "WE ALL HAVE OUR MOUNT. EVEREST, BUT IT IS UP TO UP WHETHER TO WALK AROUND IT OR CLIMB IT"
This affirmation would have to be my favourite quotation: "I am the yummy pie."
"Everything in moderation". No matter what I do or where I go, this always seems true. I couldn't find who said it because I found about 5 people who did so if anyone knows for sure, let me know!
peace.
it does not mean to be in a place
where there is no noise, trouble
or hard work. it means to be in
the midst of those things and still
be calm in your heart.

What's your favourite quote? It can be anything, and useful to you in any situation, for example if it cheers you up when you're feeling down, or if it motivates you to be more active. My favourite quote is "Every night I look up at the freckled sky and fall in love with the universe all over...

What has been your favourite film release of 2011 so far?It hasn't been a classic year for films, even the Summer blockbusters have been on the flat side. So as well as all the usual suspects, have you seen any less known gems worth recommending to Hubbers?

How do you quote several lines from an outside source in a hub?I think I tried to do this once and was tagged for "content" somewhere else on the web. I want my readers to read the long quote and not have to click. Will the quotation marks and source citation be enough?
