Iv'e been receiving more and more emails like the one below from new Hubbers. (names changed to protect the innocent, the Hubber was not actually called xxxxxxxxxxxxx. Not a bad idea though)
Is Hubpages branching out as a Dating Service or is this a new wave Scam about to hit HubPages.
Hehe...must be something to do with that fox in your avatar!
They must be really kinky as well.
We got 1 Fox
1 horse
1 Cake (with cross eyes I might add very becoming!)
Wonder how many other animals or objects can they like ?
Ok I'll add 1 Furry little feline (cuddly at that) ;-)
We may have a trend developing, my friend you are a human, these people seem not to like humans. Stay tuned.
Get similar from various sources on a fairly regular basis. Be very careful with these messages as they can be from Spammers or Phishers, simply looking to obtain your personal details. Best to delete them and block sender if you have this facility.
I get those all the time too. I just delete them. Usually they are written in broken English and the font is real big. They look like they send out a gazillion of them at a time, they just have that 'feel' to them.
I've been getting them, too!
Ladyvenus, I love your new avatar!
Oh Me too! I'm tired of the spam emails, but I like leaving the contact me button up because sometimes I do get real people asking real questions. There's always a disadvantage.
You can un-check the contact me option, which should cut out the spam.
I'm in the same boat. For every ten spam e-mails I get, I might get one or two genuine e-mails asking questions, asking for links or just asking for help.
I'm the opposite: for every five or so genuine e-mails I get I get one or two spam messages! I guess I'm lucky like that!
Aren't you being loved? I had them for awhile and they are spam but I see that someone likes you..
I've gotten two of these things here lately...
The first seemed odd to begin, but for shits and giggles I replied. Apparently Darfur has an excellent photography studio, judging by the picture I received. (and had not even asked for.)
Sincerely,
G|M
Hey everyone, I've got a few of those emails lately, too. I wanted to make sure that you all please click that cute, little this mssage is spam link at the bottom of the spam emails that you're unfortunately getting through HubPages so that we can take care of the accounts that are sending them out.
Thanks for all of your help and if you want a little more info on how you can help us fight the bad guy spammers, check out this section of the HubPages Guide.
Hey, thanks Ryan! That's a cool little trick. I always mark these spam emails as such in my email account, but have never thought to look down and see the button you describe.
For what it's worth... Ag, I saw you on Hub Pages and thought both your little fox and your accent were adorable. Will you be my friend? Please? I am not a spammer. I promise. A maniac, perhaps. But definitely not a spammer.
Hey Ag I saw her first, she's mine I tell you, Mine. Just look at those eyes. I'm in Luv !
I never noticed the link either... I just open them on my BlackBerry and delete after reading the first line or less. Even when I use the computer to check my email, I've never thought to scroll to the bottom to check for a spam button... :-/
Hey I get mails from Hubpages only when someone publishes a Hub or when someone comments on my Hub but never did I get these kinds of mail. That is bad. At least I will get a feeling that I am able to attract women through my Hubs.
Now, now boys, no fighting. Ag and I have been pals for ages. We joined HP round about the same time. He's always been a gentleman and I do so admire that in a man. But Mr. Hairy, you are a welcome addition to our crew, too. There is no denying your raw masculine appeal.
Honestly, if I could put the both of you together you would be the perfect male specimen.
(Please don't tell the other perfect male specimens around here -- they know who they are).
Yes, that's the ticket. You two be mates. Hairy -- I am not sure what you've got in your mouth that makes you sort of lisp like that. Are you trying to talk with your mouth full of beer?
I've gotten those "spammish" seeming ones, but I've also recently received more that don't seem like spam, and instead seem more personal. What they've done, though, is e.mail, rather than commenting on the Hub. It may have been innocent (one may have had something the person wouldn't want post online), but it did occur to me it could be someone trying to get my (or anyone's) e.mail address (if I responded).
Have other people been getting more of those too? (Or maybe the ones I got were actually legitimate?)
Lisa, I do hear what you are saying. It is my own opinion that the emails are too similar in wording and construction to be by individuals.
I am also of the opinion that it is better to get to know the Hubber that wishes to befriend you before you hand over your private email address. I feel to do otherwise is foolhardy and only asking for spamming or worse !
Hubpages I feel has designed this well, so it would be silly for anyone not to take advantage of Hubpages safety nets.

I’m wondering if emails from HubPages are being lost. I confirmed that I have all notification settings set to “Always” for “Instant Email” and “Allow HubPages to contact you” is enabled.1. Whenever I get a new follower I don’t get the email notification as I used to in the past. Just got one...

Is there a possibility we could have a new feature that would only allow Hubpage members with profiles to send emails? I think this might cut down on the amount of spam we are currently receiving from unverified email accounts. Just a thought . Also, it would be great if email...

Something very strange happened yesterday. Someone sent me an email via HubPages. The person, according to my knowledge, was not a HubPages member. He wrote to me:"I want to post an article on your website: https://turbofuture.com/ Please let me know what the guest post price is at the site....

So I heard recently that there is a hubpages newsletter and I was wondering how to sign up for it? Does anybody know?

Is it just me? I usually gets quite a few notices of new hubs, although they've been showing up in my bulk folder. But I haven't gotten any at all in two or three days! Is no one publishing new hubs, or has my Yahoo mailbox gone bonkers?
