I took 3 years and 4 months--my first hub was published on 6/17/14-- but I passed 500,000 views this morning. (As of the last update 500,064) views. I was hoping to hit 500 followers for a double whammy, but I am still 6 short. At my current rate of views, I think I will hit one million in 1 to 1 1/2 more years.
Good for you, Catherine! I've been here six years and only have half that. But I do make payout every other month, so I'm okay with it.
Hang in there, brave warrior. Once it starts to happen for you, it is exponential. You will soon go from every other month, to every month. I think the key to success is to have a lot of high-quality hubs. Even hubs that only get 10-20 views a day--they add up.
Haha I read brave's message wrong at first and thought she said six months. I was like shoot, I'd love to have had that in six months!
Congrats Catherine, the next 500k will not take as long to achieve. I've been here over 8 years and have over 3,000,000 views so far.
Well done Catherine! So pleased for you, you deserve it.
Great work, keep it up. An inspiration to others. It'd be good to know if your specialist niche hubs are attracting most views?
Congratulations, Catherine. I have been on Hubpages since April of 2011 and am approaching 750,000 views.
Congrats, Catherine. Actually, it will go much faster now. I hit a million fairly quickly once I hit 500,000 and now am only 200,000 away from 2 million...all in less than a year. I have found this to be true all the way through my journey here. When I hit 10,000 someone told me views would add up more quickly but I didn't believe them. That one did take awhile, but it's what happened. I'll be here 6 years at the end of December, so actually you're doing much better than I did!
Just kept plugging away day by day view by view. I know others have much more views and others reached this landmark much faster. I got lucky in that I had a few mini-viral events. It will take others longer. I think it helps that a lot of my hubs have been moved to niche sites. I think with another year f steady submissions, I can get all of them moved.
Thanks everyone for your support and good wishes. I just reached my 500th follower today. Plus since I first posted this , I've received another 8000 views towards the 1 million goal.
Excellent! You well deserve it. I was just reading some of your work and thoroughly enjoyed myself. You should make a million in no time!
Congrats! Interesting how things work differently for different Hubbers. For instance, I've been here almost as long as you, and I have a bit more views but much less followers. Regardless, well done. It's fun to imagine just how many people have had their lives impacted, however briefly, by our work.
Jeremy, that makes some sense to me. Having a lot of followers suggests that Catherine might be spending a lot of time interacting within the HubPages community. That is good for motivation, but doesn't contribute to success. If Catherine had spent less time in the community and more time writing or networking outside HubPages, her figures might be more like yours.
So actually when you look at it, Catherine's figures are even more impressive because she's managed to do both at once - be popular in the community here AND get traffic.
Celebration indeed! Your hard work and patience paid off. Well done!
This is awesome Catherine! I've only been on about two months or so, I think I'm at around 1,220 views. I'm really hoping to supplement my income but in the mean time, even getting 10 cents has been so exciting for me!
It took me 9 months to get my first payout, but after that I made payout almost every month. It is slow going at first.
Congratulations! Keep at it and the views will stay rolling in.
Your hubs are interesting
I've been here for 3 years too but I only have 12k views lol. I have to work on my hubs.
Congrats! You got that far, you'll get your double whammy!

I just realised I'm up to 3,095,000 views. I don't really look at the totals much. It seems like ages ago when I got my 1 million badge. Going at my current rate it'll take about another 11 years to hit the 10 million badge. Ugh!

You can't. Just had to put that out there as I'm seeing newbies all over the forums going on about these topics lately.Serious money comes from getting views from Google NOT from having other hubbers visit your work. Some of the top hubbers on the site have separate accounts NO ONE knows about to...

I want to thank Hubpages for allowing me to publish here. You were my first love for publishing online. I still haven't found another lover like you and can't seem to let you go. With all the arguments and disagreements I am still here. Hopefully, I'll fall in love with you like before.I have been...

At least it is an interesting statistic.OK, I've been here long enough to know there are ups and downs (and I know this is a summer weekend). It will probably shake out to a better percentage later. I'm not stressing over it. I didn't join for the money in the first place, but the rewards--...

On New Year's Day I acquired my 500th follower. In addition to this, I hope to reach another milestone within the next two weeks - the 500,000th visit to my hubs in 4 years. As far as page visits is concerned my goal now is to double this and reach a million views in the next 2 years. But although...
