0Hey Klara 5 more minutes and I am out of work and heading to shore. Wife already down there and said 10 degrees cooler and a nice wind off Ocean
But I have to drive back to Trenton in the am to work a half a day

I've been in a funk and a real hub writer slugBeen feeling that 'breakdown' for the past two weeks. I am living a work related HELLISH NIGHTMARE that keeps getting worse. I think I'm in a twighlight zone. Actually can't eat, can't sleep...wondering if I've lost weight or if I'm still living off my body fat

Good afternoon everyone! I see a lot of stressed out hubbers today. Not good... not good at all. Ladies, life's too short to stress over little things. Yes, in a few years you'll look at your problems today and you'll realize they were nothing but little specs in the realm of life.
I got this quote from Dr. Wayne Dyer's book, and posted it next to my desk at work to remind myself that whether I stress over things or not, they will be come to an end. The more you try, the less you accomplish:

Pace yourself with your job. My situation is getting worse by the day. I am now writing yet another appeal for the most recent charges. This manager is hellbent on getting me fired and I am going to lose my pension in the process. That isn't just stressful...it's my future income. Not happy to say the least.
Phew! Heard the announcement about the closing of this contest and rushed here to post. Just made it with five seconds to go! Geez! It sure feels great to win "at last!"

@ Denise -- I feel for you. Can your union rep help you? I'm sure that they've had to work with your rep on this. UGh!! I wish I were there to help you out in any way that I could. This stinks. I find that some people are always looking for a scapegoat because of their inability to take responsibility. Hope everyone had a good Sunday evening. the Pirates movie was ok--pretty predictable in parts.
@ Beth--there is no UNION or union rep. That is what is so frusttrating. I spoke with one lawyer who informed me that North Carolina is an 'at will' state and any employer can fire any employee 'at will' for nothing more than not liking what shoes they are wearing.
For me-I believe this is a tactic she has used elsewhere. There is a co-worker who used to work under her at another facility and it got so horrific with the constant reprimands and writeups that this co-worker quit. When we got news that this woman had been hired in to our facility this co-worker was in hysterics sobbing and saying, "you don't understand...she is worse than the former manager" The former manager was let go b/c there were so many c/o's about her.
This one seems to have the favoritism on her side. There are few people there I trust including our director of nursing who is pro management. It shakes me up as a nurse--makes me question my skills and self esteem.
Recently, as news has leaked out, there are co-workers coming forward to offer me support. But, the allegations are trumpted up and she can twist things to her favor--this is what she is skilled at.
Believe me-I am planning to fight it-even if it means getting an attorney to help me with harrassment charges. And, I am still working with the H.R. Director-although she has to play both sides. I will file a second appeal tomorrow against these new charges. In the end, I know my termination is inevitable but I am not willing to go out w/o a fight. Thanks for the support. Aw, this is unfair Denise!!!
Is there a possibility that your lawyer can call the other nurses who have been harrassed by her to a deposition? Maybe there is a way to turn this from you defending your position to an attacking position on her credibility -- it sounds like she has a history of deploying tactics that result in termination of employees. There must be a precedent set of her actions/outcomes. Is it possible to create a chain of events that is similar between all the cases?
Unions are just as scary as non-union situations. We have one nurse who has been with the hospital for 3 years and she has called in sick many times. Enough to add up over 1000 hours. Imagine that?!? She cannot be fired because of the clause in the union agreement.
Then we have non-union, who are fired because they did not comply with the footwear policy when they walk into the hospital. No warnings, just a pink slip. It's way too extreme.

I do have a former employee of hers who has a ton of paperwork on her from the past and a second person I can contact / or my attorney can. I am in the process of securing legal council now. I have read some of your posts to Beth and I think it is terrible for what they are doing to you Denise. Man, I can relate to some of the things you mentioned with my suck job. I don't know how long you have been employed by this firm, but in my opinion and what they are doing to you I would tell them BYE, but the way the jobs are these days it's not that easy to say or do.

Thanks Klara--here is the ironic thing: I work with CRAZY...really. As a psych nurse I've always thought that taking care of mentally ill patients was an important function; a job I took pride in. So, in comes a manager here for just two months and she has let one LPN go and is now hot on my tail and will finish the process of terminating me due to her falsehoods, this Friday. It's just a matter of 'waiting' for the fatal meeting with the Director of Nursing. Unfortunately, she has worked at another hospital in the recent past and did the same thing to 9 staff, mostly nurses...ran them right out of there. I am in contact with two of them.
So, the best I can do is to visualize my next job. You have a good point here Klara. We will all be praying for you on Friday Denise and maybe Klara is right, don't show them that you are upset or frightened of their decision, Stay strong and positive. Believe in yourself and you will win the battle with these crazy people.
