I have earnings of 1p today.... but no clicks.... this has never happened before, and I was wondering if anybody knows why this may be?

Not that I am moaning, an incredibly slow day for traffic this end.... so every penny counts, but just seems strange.

from  CPM ads. google also serves cost per impression ads.

        That there is the answer.

You'll find most Adsense earnings come from PPC, but some advertisers can pay per impression.

That happens to me quite frequently. You may notice it more in the future. I wish you the best of luck in seeing more than just a penny tomorrow!

This is because of Pay per Impression Ads. These Ads per for every impression i.e. you get paid whenever these ads get displayed on your articles. But these are very paying ads. You may have to display these several thousand times to make $1.

I think you earn 1cent per 1000 impressions.

      This ^

I don't believe it's always just 1 cent, but it's usually a small amount, and I think it only comes from image ads (but could be wrong on that).

jmattsposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Not exactly 1 cent for every 1000 impressions since I just got 1 cent for only 99 impressions today. Maybe there might be some campaigns that pays per impression but this is not always the case.

Exactly ! Depending on the relevancy of your ads being displyed as well as the impression count within a certain time period, you earn without any clicks.

Right.... so I get 1p when somebody clicks on my photo? via google images is that mate? Surely not for a click on a photo on my hub? Because I have over a thousand slideshow views?

I dont think that it would be for 1000 impressions kmackey (although I do believe you, just that I am halfway between 5000 and 6000, so wouldnt make sense)

  4. profile image0
    ryankettposted 14 years ago

Right.... so kmackay is right and it is because of impressions?

Anyway, its only a penny..... probably dont really need to know.... if it was £1 I would be a little keener to work out why!

    Cheers everyone.

I've told myself that when I get to 100 hubs, which will be about another 6 weeks at this rate, I am not going to publish anymore until I have learnt as much about SEO as possible... and optimised every one to the best of my ability....

Then after 200.... I will try and learn even more, before going back over the whole 200 again....

Im still pretty new to SEO for content, old to affiliate marketing.... new to adsense for content.

But life is a learning curve, cheers smile

I'm earning the same thing here in hubpages.

Don't stop writing hubs to learn. Learn while you write hubs.

Just check your account stats here and your google adsense stats, as well as your sales records if you use Amazon and Ebay. That will let you know if it's working and what isn't.

SEO and online marketing changes constantly. You can't learn it and then think you know it all.

Hubpages is very well optimiazed for adsense. I don't even try for adsense and make payout each month.

At 59 hubs you should know pretty soon if your hubbing style is compatible with making money. If that's your goal. I think it was somewhere in that range where I really started to see things take off.

Just keep writing because you never know what hub will be your money maker. I guarantee if you knew which three hubs (out of about 165) account for 40% of my hubpages revenue, you'd fall over. I never would have thought those would be the money makers.

Nelle - same here, pretty much. You can look at what I've written since I started and the ones that convert the best I just wrote off the top of my head.

Of course I've looked at why that's happened and improved on it but at the time of writing I really did just think 'ooooo I know what I know loads about' and that was it.

I am in a similar position with my hubs.  5 of my hubs account for over 80% of my earnings so far in August.

Congrats.  I earn a few random pennies a day, somedays even more.  Its great for those days when you have no clicks to still be earning "passive" income.

  9. BristolBoy profile image65
    BristolBoyposted 14 years ago

I used to have days like that.  However, I can't remember the last day when I didn't have a click.  However, I track the earnings to each hub and I generally have at least one hub every day which despite having no clicks still earns me money through the previously mentioned payment for impressions.

As you are a pom is there a chance it was due to an exchange rate fluctuation? Maybe they now owe you an extra cent from a click yesterday?

Maybe I am just talking bollocks

    1. BristolBoy profile image65
BristolBoyposted 14 years agoin reply to this

Not sure if that is the case but it is most likely due to the showing of a pay per impression ad.

Well done on you high click as well badcompany!

Same here my friend, note I have 46 hubs and that was the one that has earned about 85 percent of my earnings to date. To get the clicks you deff need to be writing about a popular product that people are going to click an ad to read more about. My tens machine hub also did well so this pirate is gonna now reinvent himself and start writing about gadgets. Doncha just love reinventions smile

During my criminal days I always wanted to travel to Europe and set up a counterfeit press for U.S. Currency, where enforcement in theory would be more lax, I used to move alot of paper back in the day until the secret service shut me down, but I was always intrigued by Europe and the fact that countries are so close in proximity a crook like I was could've passed checks in Germany in the morning, bounced over to France, set up an art theft over lunch, and fenced the sculptures in Poland over dinner! Although I've heard prisons in Europe are kinda rough- I always wondered what kinda crook I'd have been had I been from Europe !! Glad I got out of that life but I'm still curiously wired for sneaky behavior, and I always wondered what could've been, plus Europeans seem like good people, and Europe is beautiful ! I have NO IDEA what this has to do with click rates, LOL  but speaking of which my family is supporting me by buying stuff from my ads but I'm not making much money, anything in particular you make MORE off of ? Also, was my assessment of Europe even close? And one last thing, I have never met a nicer and more supportive group of people than the writers on hubpages, you guys have been nothing but nice to me since I joined 10 days ago, and even though I'm a horrible writer ALL the feedback I have gotten has been so encouraging and I just wanted to say thank you, I really appreciate the way I've been embraced and accepted by everyone, THANKS SO MUCH smile

If you signup for Adwords, you will have two options to display your ads i.e. cost per click and cost per impressions.

Most of the times there are those pay per impression ads, on your sites/hubs and those cents are from these ads.

I have an ad channel which has been displayed about 3000 times this month but no click there and it has accounted for 27 cents due to CPM ads.
