How do women live longer?
Maintaining a healthier lifestyle is one of the reasons.
It's all part of the plan, we repeat ourselves constantly for years on end to the husbands and children, in hopes of driving them all away, we have to live longer so eventually we can stop repeating ourselves endlessly.
Because they have to. Nobody else is gunna do it for us.
Motivation. Women tend to "need to be needed" more than men do and can't take care of their guys if they (the women) die first.
We are smarter! lol we dont do stupid things! lol
I really cant remember I do know that there was a national geograohic thing on that not too long ago.
by taking care of their skin. Watching their weight.
And, getting involved.
hello one and all.
By staying pretty and hot!
OOOPS! Its for women only!! Gonna run away....................
hey. You weren't supposed to know that. Anyway, it tastes better than cooked blood.
Men WANT to die first. At least married men do anyway.
I read that one day in an e-mail.
I've heard that the edge women have had often had over men, when it comes to living longer, has been diminishing. I've heard that has to do with the fact that more women have careers and long-term employment these days.
It has been said (by whoever says things - experts, I guess) that much of it has had to do with the facts that men have often had careers and/or long-term employment. It occurs to me, though, that men have often been the ones who eat lots of fat-loaded meals (maybe in response to cravings that can occur when one lives under stress and must keeping going, which is something that science now knows occurs). My father (a slender guy) used to eat the whole bacon and eggs (cooked in bacon grease) breakfast, doughnuts at work, meat sandwiches, and meat and potato for dinner every night. He'd put evaporated milk in his coffee, which he drank several times throughout the day. He died at 62 of a heart attack (probably needless to say). He was up at 5, had two hour-long commutes each day, got home after 5, ate his meat and potato meal, and then would often do thing around the house. He didn't rest much on either weekend day, and he'd be up until about midnight. He worked at the same place for 38 years.
Stay-at-home moms can have 24-hour-a-day work, can be stressed out and tired, and not get any breaks; but apparently, it may be a different type of stress than being out working. Besides, kids gradually require less non-stop work as they grow older. (Just my guesses, anyway)
Everything you have said I agree with, but I'd like to ad that women tend to gather in groups of other females and blow off steam, we tend to release our frustrations, and understand, sympathize and listen to each other, we like relaxing bubble baths and movies that make us cry (another release) where most men bottle it up and being with the guys adds to abuses to themselves, like beer or shots and getting upset at the football players at the game or working out in the hot sun too long to prove how macho they are.
Somehow i feel woman are destined to live longer we suffer more. What are the statistics now?
How do women live longer? hmmmm, they poison men after pooping babies from the front butt.
Women live longer because we help contribute to the stress of men! Don't you know it is a conspiracy? That is why we are always after you guys to "Take out the Trash" " Put the toilet Seat Down" Pick up your socks from the middle of the floor!
we live longer, because er we are so well looked after by the men...... more men on here than women, can men not read.....
If anyone is interested, here's some pretty good info that both back ups but also goes against my off-the-cuff "theory":
http://www.news.harvard.edu/gazette/199 … veLon.html
That was interesting. Here's a quote from that source I found intriguing:"Even with the sizable risk conferred by childbirth, women have outsurvived men at least since the 1500s. Although, in the United States between 1900 and the 1930s, the death risk for women of childbearing age was as high as that for men."
What happened between 1900 and 1930 to make childbearing more dangerous in the the U.S. than it had been in centuries? Is this when they started to go into the hospital to give birth?
I think you actually may be up to something Aya.
it just said childbearing age tho, not that they died during childbirth. I wonder if there was a precursor to the swine flu? just kidding, but maybe there was some kind of virus? It would be intersting to research why that happned.
Wowwwww the Captains eyes are bulging out like that cartoon characters, nice to see the girl back in the pic
In short, yes. Doctors in the 19th century didn't know about washing their hands, so they killed many, many women who otherwise would have been fine with infections, and as far as I know didn't have any better a rate than the traditional midwives with the real problem births.
Kerry, it's 20th century. To the best of my knowledge, they knew already...
In the 1930's, puerpural fever/septicemia was still the highest single cause of maternal mortality in the US, so even if they knew about it, it's safe to say that many weren't practicing it.
In the 30's operative procedures such as C-sections were also becoming more common, and these had a pretty high mortality rate during that period as well, though I don't know how many of the women who had them would have been essentially doomed anyway due to the complications that required the C-section in the first place. ~shrugs~
They were also experimenting with some pretty hardcore drugs to ease the pain of childbirth between the 1850's and 1950's or so - the type of drugs that knocked the woman completely unconscious - and considering that even a comparatively minor procedure like the epidurals used today raises the risks of complications, you also have to take into account the number of fatal surgeries potentially caused by the drugs, and so on.
Yes, to all of that. But I think the major difference was the switch from births at home to the hospital. The 'medicalization' of it....coupled with the sanitation issue. Women would die of "child birth" fever, which was often the result of physicians not washing their hands...going from working with cadavers in to the delivery room.
Yes, it was the 20th century, and women's mortality from childbirth rose dramatically in the US!
LOL, I just meant that I think doctors knew to wash their hands at that time, I believe it was discovered somewhere in the second part of 19th...
So this could not be a reason for high mortality.
The Captain says sorry ladies and closes the door on his way out
you left the toilet seat up though.....
why are there men on here.... if you get your own thread, do you think we would come on it....
Is my old lady in here, she aint home yet and I need a feeding.

IT'S OUR FAULT FOR BEING ADORABLE, MEN JUST CANNOT LIVE ONE SECOND WITHOUT US.,,,,,, IT IS A FACT
How old was the oldest man alive? We as woman can have sex as long as we want to and how many times we want to. Men die out in sex by age....hmmm about 65-70 right? My point is that women know how to nurture and love. Sorry cant say that for most of the men. Which women is the oldest hubber here and what is your secret? In Russia the oldest women drink their own home made vodka right after food. Let me look her up again and send you a pic. Iam sorry cant find the oldest guy yet. lol
If I was 70 years old I would die happy making love to you !
At 70 i dont think you will last for 1 minute. lol..... Unless you plunder some Viagra and stash it away.

This thread is so much friendlier than the political forum threads
Never get married.
Have plenty of wild sex.
Never have children they cost to much.
Secret to a long life.
And...women live longer because they are more adaptable, I think, and also in some sense have been allowed the opportunity to literally become more fully human. What I mean by that is that they are allowed a full emotional range, to some extent, and as a typically looked upon as an 'other' or second class, have developed a great range in a variety of areas. Outlets for creativity, ways to cope with adversity, etc., etc. You could say it is the advantage that many (and only using this term metaphorically) minorities actually have over those who dominate them. i.e., the way Jewish people developed great mercantile skills or skills in finance. (They actually were not allowed to become anything else but 'money changers,' etc., say, in Shakespeare's day.)
Also, the assignation of men to the role of work only...and at that, 40-60 hours at a company of the recent past/present, then retire and might as well die at 65...like some machine...was never beneficial. This is another way in which I mean women have been allowed to essentially become more fully human.
She beats them all. I would like to know her secret.
Anyways this thought makes me happy we can outlive all the bad relationships. lol
Lita, very interesting info I totally agree about us developing more fully because of social positions that men have. However I think that men are being blind like this because of unnatural guidance of our species in recent years like a couple of thousand. They are forced to wars, fights ,thinking about money systems, perverted sex and control over others because they cant control themselves.....how boring. I don’t think men were always like this. It would be interesting to know…. did men at one point live as long as us during some time in our species existence?
I had a great day at this place. Very cool experience unique to NYC.
Im working on something per request
Well, that club looks cool, Koma, lol. But can middle class types like me afford it?
And yes, to what you said above. That's kinda women's studies 101...course, it's really just anthropological studies, because believe it or not (and sometimes they think not), men have been hurt by all that crap, too.
It’s a spa
and its only $30 entrance last time I checked (I have the annually membership so I never worry about that) and then you can play with different services and food. You can spend thousands or $100 bucks for an awesome relaxing whole day till 12pm.
I heard in Arizona there are many places that are unique to spa treatments and mental clarity. Is this true?
I never went to any college studies but I take time reading and expanding on social culture and women’s spirituality. I know men are hurt I feel it everyday…. they are like beasts, waiting for rose to bloom, I’m with a beast now lol. And I will tell you from first had experience money and power are not the most important like they believe it to be.
Oh...so it isn't that much (wow, in NYC?)! lol Yeah, I'm used to the places here. Usually very expensive.
You'd probably like Sedona:
The spas/resorts are Mii Amo, Enchantment (that one's famous), Los Abrigados, etc. And there are all kinds of spirit-oriented things, yes.
Is your guy somewhat older than you?
Wow those are beautiful. i will definitely visit at least once it looks like the our planet that is below but its out in our view and what a view it is. we are same age hes younger by some months. How old are you?
haha. Older than you...some over 30, lol. The reason I asked is because if he's so wealthy, etc., how did he come into all the $$? My bf is an architect..we are middle class, basically, but far from completely set.
Yes, I really think you'd like it here...very spiritual and lots of spas and things to do. Lot of New York actors here, too. Al Pacino has a house...and so do a few others.
He was set from his birth, they were wealthy in the “red land” and when they came here.....well the American dream etc... too much stuff maybe one day I will write a book about it. lol When I get my English straight (that will take years probably).
I think architects are great we worked with one on our house it was a great experience. They are brilliant men i liked him…lol shh.
Are you getting married soon? Weddings are beautiful when it feels natural, not stressed. All the weding I visited were always nervous and superficial.
lol No. We are 'American' about stuff & this will be it. (Don't really believe in marriage.) We've been together for 4 1/2 years.
Yeah! lol Go for an architect. They have cool houses, always, .
Watch soap operas. That's what my mom did. It'll teach you not only how to speak, but the different expressions and how they are best used. Just remember that soaps are a bit over the top, so don't expect the situations to be real.
Women suffer and take in pain differently, i believe we sometimes allow ourself to fall and instead of picking our self up we look for other problems. If we werent so different from men we would live in peace and harmony forever and for a longer time.. Woman are different from eachother individually but all made of the same matterial. Just like men. But we cant even begin to understand why they do the things they do. Men have their destiny and soul, and so do women, seperate but equal. Women live longer by statistics because of our genes we were meant to stay home, raise kids, and you know the rest, in the caves while men hunted, and got killed just like war for example. Nature V Technology. I think soon it will even out and our genes will change once more. I think technology and todays world beat Nature. Just my thoughts on things. Thanks for all your replies and i hope to hear more. Good Night!! today, see you tommorrow. Love all.
http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=9 … 11,2195176
This is an article from a paper in the 1920's that suggests that the increased death rate in women was actually a statistical aberration brought about by the influenza epidemic of 1918.
http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articl … id=2740912
This is a paper by the NIH that supports the newpaper articles contention. Because tuberculosis was predominately a male disease in 1918 and the mortality when TB combined with the flu was high, a larger proportion of young, healthy males died during the 1918 epidemic. Thus, those that did survive were healthier which would have artificially lowered their mortality rate compared to women of child-bearing age.
Thus, women were dying at a similar rate but men had died more quickly then more slowly to revert back to the mean.
http://www2.census.gov/prod2/statcomp/d … 921-02.pdf
(see page 49 of the PDF)
This would be supported by US census data of the population. In 1910, the percentage of males was 51.4%. In 1920 (after the epidemic), the percentage of males was 51%. This implies an increased death rate among males during the decade. Of note, the percentage of US population killed in WWI (which would have been mostly male) was 0.13% according to data on Wikipedia.
The bottom line is that the contention that hospitals and childbirth had anything to do with this would seem to me more conjecture by forum members rather than anything supported by data. But I would be interested in any data presented. Be that as it may, the mortality rates and life expectancies have reverted to their typical relationship.
PS--sorry I am male and posting on this thread but I feel that facts should be presented. Do with them what you will.
Ah, there we go. Only a man can post "the facts." Ya hear that ladies?
So only a woman can know anything about being a woman? Please.
Well, yes. Only a woman knows about being a woman. Just as only a man knows about being a man.
Ahem. . .did you know this is for women only?????
Funny. On this page alone there are posts by or references to four men. Ahem....you did notice that, right?
As far as only women knowing about women, and men knowing about men, I have to disagree, respectfully.
If you really take the time to know your other half, you learn all sorts of things about them.
My husband knows me better than I do myself sometimes, and vice versa...but, we started very early on talking about everything under the sun, so you get to know each other pretty well that way...
Oh there are some things about my fiance that will always baffle me, but I pride myself on knowing what she's going to do in a given situation. She's not bad at doing the same thing either. I'm proud of her. A mutual friend was plying her with BS the other night and my fiance kept calling her on it, just as I would have had I been there.
Oh, sure--I've been known to be baffled a time or two with my husband...but in the course of 21 years, I supposed it's to be expected, lol...
Like today, he was having a conversation with someone(?) about chicken wings, Colonel Sanders, and conspiracies...hmmm...
Guess I'm the only one who has seen So I Married an Axe Murderer.
Men are also sensitive sometimes, We have different wants from men and different philosophy's. We might be best friends but a man is a man and a woman is a women at the end. Even try switching roles you wont last a day in the mind of a woman. Why for so long in history we live longer, suffer more in general, but never in full power like to be a presedentres. Queen is still under a king, and why?
Every person, male or female, is an individual, with individual feelings--you just can't generalize them all into two specific categories...
I take it personally, I suppose, maybe I shouldn't. But my husband is always sensitive, but strong at the same time. He easily could last a day in my shoes, before I could in his, believe me. He has suffered so much more in life than I have, but it has never got the best of him--and it has never broken his spirit.
I admire, respect, and love him more than anyone else in this world, and so, yes, I do take exception to him being generalized as a "typical male"...
Ok excellent information!!! thanks. How many men did the war take and keeps on taking, Whats the statistics on that. Do you think a woman president would let men go to war all those years? or maybe their might be a different solution in a women head. Like peaceful thoughts of reconciliation. Maybe.
Now what would men be without women? Very few in numbers, very few indeed.
I have heard that there is a shortage of male babies.
Women don't usually go to war. Except on men, and only when it's necessary. We are less violent, that's why we live longer. We support life rather than destroy it.
There is a germ of truth behind "Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned". Men tend to be direct and women more indirect when waging war.
Well I knew a women who had a mouth dirtier than a wicker toilet seat.
The bloodiest fights I have ever seen were between two women. One was at a wedding between a bride and a bride's maid.
"We support life rather than destroy it."...Abortions?
Abortions is a choice that sometimes women need not want.
Need or want...the end result is the same...we are all accountable for our choices and we all cope differently. The majority of men don't want to kill in war but they need to in order to survive. I believe...most women would do the same in combat.
Why even have combat its not part of survival. That is a method to make a lot of money (War). You think god created war or did people who wanted money, power and .... As a woman i would try to resolve than kill or be killed. Look back at history and tell me, what is war? Woman think differently than men, that is why we don't have a presedentris. no offense to men at all, love all koma.
Queens? Do you actually believe that women have never instigated war or profited from war?
44 million abortions per year...is that not a war on life?
There are still so many people born to poverty, and suffering conditions. We have a lot of life on earth thanks to women giving birth. More men than women take away life, at lest women can make up for it really quick. If men became more sensitive to violence like most women we can change the world now its corrupt thanks to... who? We have over populated city's and countries what more do you want? During life what we do matters. love all.
not any more science took care of that with new age tech.
hmm, thought this is a women's club only....why so many alter egos posing as men?!? lol Seriously, you men just have to visit and see what us women are up to!
"They stored enough semen in the bank to kill of the whole planet and start over again. lol Men have a greater purpose in life."
So your answer to the perfect world is to exterminate all males and erase them from history and only allow females to be born from the sperm banks.
Women would never commit murder?
Women would never enter conflict?
Women would never abuse their children?
Women would never seek power?
Women already have more power than men, they have half the money and all the yumyum, if ya get my drift
Joan Crawford beat her kids with coat hangers...Mommy Dearest?
I personally knew a woman who beat her son in the privates until he bled....she hated all males.
Suzan Smith drowned her kids....strapped in their car seats.
Andrea Yates drowned her 5 children in a bath tub.
Simply...women would be no better at preserving peace than men...we are all human beings with the same desires and faults. Insanity is rampant in both sexes....and many times...hidden.
Who started as hunters? Who killed and wasn't hastened to fight? I love men but they are mostly high tempered and ready for war. Look at our society before and now, men had aggressive rolls just like now Illuminati, secret society? On the money who do you see? Elite system, never broken. Women are fighting themselves just because they don't want the expected woman roll. Why then it took women so long to even be heard by men, sooooo long in history. I don't want men destroyed i have a son. Even when i didn't have my son i had most male friends. Friends.
wanna 'splain that to the sobbing kiddos i got upstairs? the whole world is fucked up....
I'm sure that the cave women who were gnawing on a bone that Grog brought home weren't complaining about him killing food. Trust me...women have been heard by men for ages...and heard and heard and heard!
Woman's rights whats that? Men abuse women by hinting them yelling at them and brainwashing them, making them believe in love when its power and domination. Why didn't we have a women president yet? Why? How deep does the rabbit whole get?
Obviously, you've been hanging around the wrong type of men, if this is the opinion that you have of them...that's very sad.
Also--I have never in my life been hit by a man...nor been brainwashed by one.
"Woman's rights whats that? Men abuse women by hinting them yelling at them and brainwashing them, making them believe in love when its power and domination. Why didn't we have a women president yet? Why? How deep does the rabbit whole get?"
Usually stemmed from women beating the hell out of their sons verbally and emotionally. Brainwashing?....doink!
No woman president yet?.....Most of the women voted for Obama.
Thank you for voting rights! How many years are women voting? Because Next time will have a women president just like a first African American president well half that. Maybe a small percent of women are more violent that's because of a poor life. When a women is happy in her life she wouldn't even take out anger on kids. Ill say to all those women stop beating your self up by beating your kids and you are not powerless by nature, nature is powerless without you. Be yourself easy to say when society says different.
The point Tom is trying to make is that there are good men AND good women out there, as well as bad men and bad women.
It's not fair to generalize like this--there are so many wonderful and caring men in this world, and I hate to see them all lumped into one category, as you seem to be doing with them.
Tom is my husband, by the way...don't know if you realized that.
this is all im going to say.
cornetts is GOOD people.
generalizing is wrong
if she wont listen, drop it....
you have better things to do....ive been reading...
Thanks redneckwoman....I was just being honery
you be onerey....er however you fancy folk spell it....was talking to the wife.....she needs ta know, some of us get it, some never will......hold on tight to each other, get some rest, the hinckles will sort themseleves out.
Thank you, that's so sweet...
I am done here for the night...I just couldn't help myself--nothing makes me more angry than the constant putting down of men--when I know damn well how many good ones are out there--especially the one I'm married to...
Oh, and please know we're thinking about you, and hoping all goes well with your friend's family...
We live longer because after our husbands pass on, we want to end up with all our best lady friends in the Assisted Living Center stiring things up, being feisty, having our rooms cleaned for us, our meals cooked for us, and getting driven around whenever we want to go somewhere.

"You are as old as you feel", goes an old saying. A study now says women consider themselves old at 29, half the age of men who feel old only at 58.A quarter of women say they feel old as soon as they spot their first grey hair. Men, however, tend to think the same only when they can no...
