How long did it take for your first paycheck?
How long and how much work did it take until that glorious day of your first paycheck from HubPages?
second month I hit payroll got paid at the end of third month. had about 20 hubs I think.
oh my goodness. How did you do that? I'm on my 2nd month, 33 hubs and $1.49. well done.
I used a lot of social sites to link my hubs a wrote on highly searched internet topics. Quality is very important as everyone always tells us but so is advertisement. If people don't know you're there they're not gonna read your work.
I have not yet received a paycheck but I am happy just to get a few cents every day..
I've been here 2 months, but only really writing hubs for the past 4 weeks. Based on my average earnings so far, I predict it will take me a year!!!!!!!
DS Duby WOW....I think that is unusual! I got my first check at the end of 6 months and run about every 2 months now...that is with 70 hubs....I have been here 13 months.....each is different, depends on how many hubs and what they are about. There are new programs that helps it pay faster too, so.....your experience will be our own!
I have a question on the same topic...how MUCH do you have to make until you get your first payout? Still waiting on mine.
You have to make at least $50 before you get the pleasure of getting cash from HubPages.
50 is the HP adsense payout..google adsense is 100
Thank you wandererh and RNMSN! That eliminates my confusion.
Wow, I just got my first payout last month, so it took a total of 7 months to reach the payout, and 8 months until I got the actual payment. Now I get paid every month, usually over $100 a month and still growing.
this is nice. The more and the better quality write ups are the better chances of getting more checks.I want to get mine too so I am writing mine. good for you...share us some secrets!!
I joined 2 years ago, worked on hubs for about 2 months, then totally forgot about it until about 2 months ago... now I'm back & active again.
I should be reaching my first payout this month.
I think it has more to do with quality than quantity when it comes to the value of each hub.... if you have 100 hubs that are low ranking & no one wants to read, who cares, so you have 100 poorly written articles that are just sitting there doing nothing. But if you have 10 well written, interesting, thought provoking hubs that get a lot of traffic & views you'll be doing a whole lot better.
If you are trying to estimate how long it will take you, yourself, to reach your first payout - it is important to take into consideration that everyone here is different. Just because "JoeMomma" gets paid every month doesn't mean you will.
It's all about the quality & traffic of your hubs, so make sure that what you put out there is the best that you have to offer.
Hope this helps
It took me about 8 months and somewhere around 23,000 page views. I'm up to making over a dollar a day now which is pretty good considering I only write part time, usually about subjects other writer's wouldn't touch if you paid them.
So now that I've gotten two checks and am closing in on 45,000 page views, I should be able to buy my own private Island in about three hundred years or so, although with the coming Polar Shift and Apocalyptic Cataclysms, maybe sooner!
I agree with your stata- around 23000 page views for me too. Funny about the private island! I would be happy if Hubs paid for my utilities, LOL!
I'm still waiting for my first check. I didn't write much after I first joined. Hopefully I will be getting a check very soon.
I think it took me about 8 months. However, my first payment was over $100 ... which I think is kinda unusual ... I had a few hubs go viral luckily. Anyways, since then I get occasional payouts (every 2 or 3 months), but have been writing less as have been changing jobs and countries. Now I'm just getting back into HP again properly, so would expect things to pickup soon ...
It took me 5 months. Realize, however, that I began when the program first started in July 2011. At that time I had many fewer hubs and my backlink strategy was in its infancy.
What I have seen is that you progressively earn more as the hubs increase and your commitment to backlinking goes on. I now have 52 hubs and a much better backlink network. I find that at the end of the month when the Ad Program figures out what checks will be, I have earnings already accrued that don't go to the current paycheck. Hence, by the time the next month comes around, that, plus the earnings during the month that count are adding consistently up to $50, so I get paid monthly now. I tell you this so that you don't get too impatient. It works well. HubPages, to me, is the only way to go.
Adsense on the other hand took me a year to get $100.
Three months for me but I'm told I'm unusual. That's a nice way of saying I'm odd. LOL
when I started/ back in 09/it took from June to march...but it was only google too...once panda came along HP, bless HP!! YEA!! started the HP adsense and dude! gangbusters!! rolled right along with 50 to 100 every month until just this June...and this mo just got my first google 100 since Nov of last yr....it for sure is quality though...not how many...and the ones I love...my little stories? they dont pay...my nursing stuff are the payers/but with mentors like Will/Bill and LaBrashears,,,i keep playing with my little stories cause they give me joy! and thats the other thing too...you have to get joy from your writing...thats the mst imortant thing of all!
It took almost two years from now to get my first pay check from Hubpages. Though the amount was small yet it was an awesome feeling to be rewarded for your hard work. Thanks to Hubpages, my valuable followers and readers.
I believe if you already have reached the minimun of $50.
You get paid a month afterwards. For example, when you start a new job and they pay weekly, you have to wait until the following week to get your first pay check. That's how it works on hubpages but on a monthly basis every 28th of the month.
I am sorry to say that i didn't get it till date though my association with hubpages nears six months
A while now an still increasing but haven't received my first $50 as yet
Over a year and still waiting for my first paycheck from google adsense (hubpages, and my two recipe sites)...
It took me nearly a year, but that is probably because I like to write about my favorite things, which often includes obscure topics. It got better when I started following the WTI Weekly Topic Inspiration which is tuned in to high keyword searches and low competition. I also found that the Hubs that were getting low traffic started to become popular a few months later, partly due to time and partly due to fine tuning and improving on what I had written before.
Good luck!
I received my first payment after 1 year. Most of my hubs have picked up after 6 months. Now I think I can receive a check every 3 months.
It's different here in the Philippines. I had to associate my debit or credit card before I get my payout.
Unfortunately, my PayPal account is still limited. I still have to acquire a credit card from my bank in order to get my cash.
It could take me four or five years, but then I have always used hubpages as a writing outlet. The earning aspect is a useful motivation.
I've never been paid. I've been here nearly 2 years but I will never ever give up. Watch this space.
It took me six months to get my first HP cheque. There from there I used to get one every two months. Things changed to be better, thanks to God, from June 2012, I have been receiving my payment monthly.
Congrats Patkay! I am wondering, would you be willing to share what made the difference in June 2012? Did you change anything that led to your monthly success?
g-girl11, what I have been doing is to add more quality hubs and revamping my old ones checking simple things like spellings, tweaking the titles, adding relevant tags, all this aimed at getting more traffic.
I will be getting my first check at the end of this month. I have been here 4 months now and have written around 130 Hubs.
I joined HubPages two years ago. They didn't have the hub ad program at that time. I wrote a bunch of articles, they weren't doing so well, and I just left them.
One day I decided to check HubPages and they asked me to join the hub ad program, you will make extra money. So I joined, and I would check it regularly. Eventually I started making a penny a day, then it turned into 2 pennies, then 5 cents, and then 10 cents, then 30 cents, etc.
So after I noticed an increase from not doing anything, I decided to put a little effort in. I started asking questions, answering questions, updating my hubs with better content, writing more hubs, doing some SEO.
I should receive my first payment by the end of this month. It should be over a $100 dollars. Every month I make more money than the last.

How long did it take you to make your first pay out and how many articles did you write until you did? I am only curious.

I have still not seen even .01 from HubPages. I have 18 hubs and have been on the site for over 6 weeks now. Do the articles take awhile to start earning money? I am just curious what other hubbers results have been (typically). Thanks!
