Good just monitoring the progress of the kids as they trek across country to their new home. They are in El Paso now.
Chandler, AZ so they have a 400 more miles to go. It's just 8:30 where they are now, I think with the time difference so they plan to drive for at least another two then call it quits for the night and drive the rest of the way tomorrow.
The storm system that we got today slowed them down a bit yesterday so they didn't get as far as they wanted to be starting out today.
Must have raised em smart if they slowed down for the storm,,,
Lot of youngins get stupid that way...
(High Five)
Thanks, They got a few smarts I guess. Daughter has never been this far away from home so it has been interesting hearing back from them on the trip out there.
Hehe...26. She is my oldest, but also the baby. Stuck close to mama and has moved back in to the house four times when she was in her previous relationship. This one was hard cause I know she won't be back. Marriage plans are in the works, they will rent an apt. for the first two years out there and be looking for a house to buy.
So, I'm officially on my own. Wow. Worked myself into a hole because I created a kind of bubble I don't get out of much. Got to figure out how to get back out there and meet people.
Take your time sweetie,,,
There's plenty of it.
Start looking around for something to do...
Volunteering gets you meeting lots of folks at least it has for me..
Oh I am...may pick up some volunteer work at the hospital or something. I'm waiting to hear back from the college I applied to and if I get accepted I'll be doing that in the fall.
I have renovations on the house starting soon too.
I'll pick up a part-time job if I get accepted to college close to the campus, too.
I started out in nursing 30 yrs ago and well that is the plan. Life happened then and it all got put on hold, seems like as good a time as any to do what I have always dreamed of doing.
thanks. I'm really excited about it and the program this school offers is really great. We have the opp to take a mid term semester in Europe to study Florence Nightingale during the senior term.
Can't believe I am doing this now but it just feels right, ya know.
That sounds like a really amazing opportunity. Good luck to you! I'm realizing its never too late to follow some of those old dreams. I figure if they've stayed w/ you this long, they must be worth going after.
Good luck getting out of that "bubble" too! My oldest is only 4 1/2 and I already feel like I'm in one. I can't imagine how bubbly I'll be by the time he's 26!
Rock On! See I think you're lucky in many ways...
I've already done the things Jobs I wanted to do, and then some so now I find it hard to get excited bout doing much of anything..
I can see that. I'd prob be burnt out big time if I'd followed through with it when I was younger. Plus I'm still young enough to build up a pretty good retirement. Have an awesome opp too if the grades are there to get a loan from the local hosp for the last two years of school and then will have employment when I get out just at a prorated rate.
Great way to do it, You go Girl! (raises Mug clink clink)
My younger sister (shes now 49 did it right out of high school and twice she had to get out of nursing and take a break and do something else.. It's a tough job mentally...GBY for doing it.
Clink Well the coffee has done its magic and relaxed me. Gonna head off to bed now. Thanks for the company John really appreciate it.
Sleep tight kiddo, tomorrows a better day!!
Sweet Dreams Till Sunbeams Find you!!!
There he is! the most loyal poetic triber ! thanks for thinking I'm hubilicious, whatever that is! and if I was sure that it really described the way I think of you John ,I would say you are hubilicious too! oops, I just said it! hahahaha that means of course, you are! I'm so tired I'm starting to lose my entire thought form - thread - train - woooooo oooo ooo~! this train's done gone - done kapoot - nighty night - see ya manana!
Stirs the embers, sets a log in the fire, puts the coffee on the timer, Got to go do volunteer work this morning will see ya later gators and hubber lubbers...
Work Hard
Have Fun..
But above all.....
B KOO EL!
N E W S F L A S H !
If you google search for Hub Tribe or Tribe for the Hub, you will find this thread listed at the very top! Don't know why people would do that, but its good to know! and Mega1 on HubPages is also a first page listing! AND of you google my real name Adah Cain - you'll find my Bobcat in the Meadow hub listed on first page. I'm proud of us!
So does mine, Motricio on HubPages
I think Hubpages is growing in visits and search engines uses.
And........ where is Flash in this news? I don't see him!
Way cool! I may just go google stuff for fun when the kids head to their naps!
Don't be down in the dumps tricio, mi amigo! Look around a little bit and you'll see something of beauty - that's all it takes! Honestly, that's what I do lately because its winter and I get the blues but not if I truly look around at the world! It's good to know you have friends here, isn't it?
Just be glad you're not as old as me!
A LITTLE MIXED UP
Just a line to say I’m living
That I’m not among the dead
Though I’m getting more forgetful
And I’m mixed up on the head
I’ve got used to my arthritis
To my dentures, I’m resigned,
I can manage my bifocals
But O God, I miss my mind!
Sometimes I can’t remember
When I’m standing on the stairs
If I must go up for something
Or I just came down from there.
I open my fridge so often,
My mind is filled with doubt
Have I put some food away
Or come to take some out?
Now I stand beside the mailbox
With a face so very red.
Instead of mailing you my letter
I have opened it instead!
Good Lord! I do all these things and I'm only in my 30's! I'm in some serious trouble...
don't worry about it - I've been doing this stuff since I was a child, really! I work for really old people who are more together than I am, and I believe the thing is that as you get older you just can't hide it quite so easily, or you get tired of worrying about all this stuff so you just laugh about it.
I am in my 30s and I am doing most of these things, Oh,
Hi Maita!
Just said the same thing to Mega, myself.
Cool Mega!
Taking orders for dinner tonight....
Vegetarian stir fry with tofu, broccoli, mushrooms (the legal ones), baby corn, carrots, celery, zucchini, peppers (sweet red, yellow, orange) all served on top of seasoned rice.
For the sweet tooth, we'll follow up with peppermint dark chocolate cookies and warmed chocolate milk. Oh, served with chocolate dipped strawberries.
I'll be taking orders for the next 2 hours...then it's off to shop and cook! (Bring the canned cheese there hmr! )
Doubt I'll make it to dinner tonight... Can I have a doggie bag? It sounds amazing!
I would like to order all of the above for two - that way I wouldn't have to cook dinner tonight! I could trade you some good old chicken soup!
Not bad. Feeling a little guilty as I'm being quite the bad mommy right now. Gave the kids lunch and parked them in front of the tv so I could steal a few minutes on the computer. I'll have to make up for it later with some intense child/parent activities!
lol. well there's nothing wrong with that. besides, we all need some down time every now and then. what kind of activities were you thinking about doing with your kids?
Not sure. The 4 yr old decided he wanted to make the Valentine's for his preschool class by hand this year, so we've been slowly working on that (he can't do more than a few at the time before the attention span goes.) So, that's an option. Its too dreary here for a walk or outside fun. It might be a good lazy board game kind of day... provided we can find something that will work for little brother too!
hi steven - loved your new hub and left you a glowing compliment!
Thoughtful - yes, its neat to discover your name up all over the search engines - the different ones like Yahoo and Google and mywebsearch have different placements. Google is still the best for us because they are affiliated with HP and Bloggers. My website is hard to get to because it is connected to Itgo and doesn't have a direct domain - but it is free. I'm still learning about all the options for getting traffic - it is so complicated, I have to take it slowly.
I'm with you. I'm sure I've said this before... but I found hubpages as a happy accident. I missed writing, but w/ 2 little ones at home, had very little time for it. So, I started considering doing a blog or something that I could accomplish in 15 minute increments here or there. Once I started to figure out what HP was all about, I thought it sounded like a good new challenge for me, and the community was so supportive, I got hooked. So, all of this is very new to me, and seems very complicated. I know I should be doing more to drive traffic and promote my hubs and such, but, for now, I'm very content to just be doing something "good for the soul." I guess HP is kind of my virtual Campbell's Soup!
Hey Steven! Just dashing out the door...catch ya later!
oh okay. that's a shame. it seems like i always catch you when your about to log off. oh well. see you later beth.
It's not you! It's the time zone thingy....either you move closer or I'll have to! Maybe we should just eliminate time and time zones... lol
i know it's not me, beth. i was just sad because i miss talking to you that's all.
don't worry...we'll catch up sometime soon! move closer! lol gotta run...roads are bad and i really don't want to skate to my destination in my car... though, that could be fun!
I'm all for Beth moving out to California - get out of the ice and snow!
maybe. you never know. especially next year with that iditarod thing coming up.
I am strangely happy today, have lots to do, giving myself about another 1/2 hour online and then I'm gonna do a lot of things!
Okay, that does it for me. Gotta go start a load of laundry and dishes before the NickJr. induced hypnosis wears off.
Oh the glamorous life I lead!
¡Ten fe!
Oh man! I think the paint fumes are getting to me. I'm reading spanish I thinks.
Lynne - how are ya? its tough to let your baby go, I know - I used to cry every day just worrying, and sometimes even though they have been on their own for a long time now, I still do! Silly I know - but the world is so big and scarey! Probably making it worse instead of better, I know. Well, anyway, we will distract you and entertain you somehow - do you like my pic? that's me on a tractor - for manlypoetryman's benefit.
Just popping in real quick, but, Mega, I love the profile pic!
Lynne - Are the kids stopped safely for the night? Safe journey's to your daughter and her beau.
Ah....that is so cute. I have pics like that and of my kids on their papa's tractor too.
Well, I'm taking a sigh of relief they made it to AZ without any problems at all. It is hard and I am still weepy here and there but my dad seems to think wearing my ass to extreme tiredness is the answer.
We started the day scraping wallpaper, moved on to cleaning carpet, then the painters showed up, more cleaning carpet and still not done with that one. I have one more area to do before I hit the bed or first thing in the morning. Not sure which is gonna happen.
Hey everybody! Anybody Home?
Nice Pic Mega ....
Hows the house coming along Lynne?
Slim Jim anyone? Beer?
Beer, please! Had a fight with the carpet cleaning machine and it won,
Oh wow, um Corona, with a lime please, thank you.
Yeah, and it starts all over tomorrow, heehe...
Painters will be back at nine and I have one more room to do with the carpet cleaner.
Things will calm down a bit after that until Spring when the porch gets started.
Yeah they did. Stopped just shy of Tuscon and woke up to a beautiful site of snow capped mountains.
The apt was everything they thought it would be. She called really excited until she remembered the bed was at the front of the Uhaul,
Thanks so much for asking. You guys have been great through this with me. I'm doing much better and ah this beer is just the thing!

This is likely A LOT to "ask" but if you have a few minutes please take a look. I've been having fun here on Hubpages for nineteen months and have recently decided to take the productivity level more seriously. I've started designing my own website and intend to start writing more and...

I've just received word that I've qualified to receive some "assured long-term" benefits for disability - on an application process that took over 2 years and many individuals/professionals as advocates' assistance. This means that I can evade the constant worry of homelessness, so long...

I have two hubs up so far. I am not entirely sure what a great ranking would be considering that they are quite new, but they are both above 60. Is this pretty good for newly established hubs? I would appreciate any feedback on my work and what can be done to improve for the future, as well as...

Wrote a new hub this afternoon, just for fun. It is topical, relating to a new news item today. Would someone like to read it in it's entirety and comment, please? Pretty please? I don't usually do 'satire' if that is what it could be described as, should I leave it as it is, or go a bit further...

Would you like to be a member of the Hubpages Tribe?I am creating a tribe within Hubpages to help others, actually it would help many. It's all about syndication, By syndicating for others such as commenting, sharing their content on Digg, Facebook, Twitter etc we are helping others get to a...
