Good just monitoring the progress of the kids as they trek across country to their new home. They are in El Paso now.

    Hmrjmr1posted 15 years ago

So where are they headed for ?

  7. profile image0
    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

Chandler, AZ so they have a 400 more miles to go. It's just 8:30 where they are now, I think with the time difference so they plan to drive for at least another two then call it quits for the night and drive the rest of the way tomorrow.

The storm system that we got today slowed them down a bit yesterday so they didn't get as far as they wanted to be starting out today.

Must have raised em smart if they slowed down for the storm,,,

    How Old is she?

  11. profile image0
    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

Hehe...26. She is my oldest, but also the baby. Stuck close to mama and has moved back in to the house four times when she was in her previous relationship. This one was hard cause I know she won't be back. Marriage plans are in the works, they will rent an apt. for the first two years out there and be looking for a house to buy.

So, I'm officially on my own. Wow. Worked myself into a hole because I created a kind of bubble I don't get out of much. Got to figure out how to get back out there and meet people.

    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

Oh I am...may pick up some volunteer work at the hospital or something. I'm waiting to hear back from the college I applied to and if I get accepted I'll be doing that in the fall.

I have renovations on the house starting soon too.

I'll pick up a part-time job if I get accepted to college close to the campus, too.

I started out in nursing 30 yrs ago and well that is the plan. Life happened then and it all got put on hold, seems like as good a time as any to do what I have always dreamed of doing.

smile thanks. I'm really excited about it and the program this school offers is really great. We have the opp to take a mid term semester in Europe to study Florence Nightingale during the senior term.

Can't believe I am doing this now but it just feels right, ya know.

That sounds like a really amazing opportunity.  Good luck to you! I'm realizing its never too late to follow some of those old dreams.  I figure if they've stayed w/ you this long, they must be worth going after.

Good luck getting out of that "bubble" too! My oldest is only 4 1/2 and I already feel like I'm in one.  I can't imagine how bubbly I'll be by the time he's 26! lol

Rock On! See I think you're lucky in many ways...

I've already done the things Jobs I wanted to do, and then some so now I find it hard to get  excited bout doing much of anything..

  20. profile image0
    lynnechandlerposted 15 years ago

I can see that. I'd prob be burnt out big time if I'd followed through with it when I was younger. Plus I'm still young enough to build up a pretty good retirement. Have an awesome opp too if the grades are there to get a loan from the local hosp for the last two years of school and then will have employment when I get out just at a prorated rate.

Just be glad you're not as old as me!

    A LITTLE MIXED UP

Just a line to say I’m living
That I’m not among the dead
    Though I’m getting more forgetful
And I’m mixed up on the head

I’ve got used to my arthritis
    To my dentures, I’m resigned,
    I can manage my bifocals
But O God, I miss my mind!

    Sometimes I can’t remember
When I’m standing on the stairs
If I must go up for something
Or I just came down from there.

I open my fridge so often,
My mind is filled with doubt
Have I put some food away
Or come to take some out?

Now I stand beside the mailbox
With a face so very red.
Instead of mailing you my letter
    I have opened it instead!

don't worry about it - I've been doing this stuff since I was a child, really!  I work for really old people who are more together than I am, and I believe the thing is that as you get older you just can't hide it quite so easily, or you get tired of worrying about all this stuff so you just laugh about it.

    Taking orders for dinner tonight....

Vegetarian stir fry with tofu, broccoli, mushrooms (the legal ones), baby corn, carrots, celery, zucchini, peppers (sweet red, yellow, orange) all served on top of seasoned rice.

For the sweet tooth, we'll follow up with peppermint dark chocolate cookies and warmed chocolate milk.  Oh, served with chocolate dipped strawberries.

I'll be taking orders for the next 2 hours...then it's off to shop and cook!  (Bring the canned cheese there hmr! smile  )

Not sure.  The 4 yr old decided he wanted to make the Valentine's for his preschool class by hand this year, so we've been slowly working on that (he can't do more than a few at the time before the attention span goes.)  So, that's an option.  Its too dreary here for a walk or outside fun.  It might be a good lazy board game kind of day... provided we can find something that will work for little brother too!

Thoughtful - yes, its neat to discover your name up all over the search engines - the different ones like Yahoo and Google and mywebsearch have different placements.  Google is still the best for us because they are affiliated with HP and Bloggers.  My website is hard to get to because it is connected to Itgo and doesn't have a direct domain - but it is free.   I'm still learning about all the options for getting traffic - it is so complicated, I have to take it slowly.

    1. ThoughtfulSpot profile image73
ThoughtfulSpotposted 15 years agoin reply to this

I'm with you.  I'm sure I've said this before... but I found hubpages as a happy accident.  I missed writing, but w/ 2 little ones at home, had very little time for it.  So, I started considering doing a blog or something that I could accomplish in 15 minute increments here or there.  Once I started to figure out what HP was all about, I thought it sounded like a good new challenge for me, and the community was so supportive, I got hooked.  So, all of this is very new to me, and seems very complicated.  I know I should be doing more to drive traffic and promote my hubs and such, but, for now, I'm very content to just be doing something "good for the soul." I guess HP is kind of my virtual Campbell's Soup! lol

We started the day scraping wallpaper, moved on to cleaning carpet, then the painters showed up, more cleaning carpet and still not done with that one. I have one more area to do before I hit the bed or first thing in the morning. Not sure which is gonna happen.
