This is a great poem, Brenda.
I had one accepted too. 'My Old Trumpet' on page 236'
My Old Trumpet
by John Hansen
I sat my trumpet on my lap,
it was old and very worn.
The valves had seen much better days,
it was a well-used horn.
I raised the mouthpiece to my lips
and blew as I had learned.
The sound I made assailed the ears
but was a pleasant tune.
I could play it in my sleep,
I practice every day.
One day I will be good enough
to blow it on the stage.
Some confuse it with the cornet,
very similar in looks,
But different in shape and tone,
at least in expert's books.
The trumpet gives me confidence
I've never had before.
If I don't have it with me
I feel like such a bore.
Music saved my sanity,
without I am lost.
I'd protect my trumpet with my life
no matter what the cost.
Great poem John. Congratulations!!
By the way, I had a cornet.
Beautiful poems, John and Bredz.
Congratulations !!
Here's mine :
Music- The Sweet Symphony
Misbah Sheikh
She often inspires me to write poems.
She often gives me wings,
Her sweet sound helps me to lift up,
She is so sweet and so beautiful.
She carries me in many memories,
Whether they are good or sad.
She helps me re-live them,
She makes me often smile.
With her, I have the power to run away,
She sometimes gives birth to my tears,
Because her song and her words disarm me.
She is strewn with chords and pretty notes,
That makes me fly and transports me very far,
She is sad, cheerful, and sometimes funny.
She can invite me to play several roles,
I never tire of listening to her so much I love her.
Who of us could live without her?
Who never wanted to transport himself in her harmony?
To get lost in her to forget all the troubles.
She is and will always remain eternal,
So much she makes me wonder in emotional worlds.
She manages to make the happiest cry,
Bring smiles to the most unhappy days,
Those who compose her,
Are often great virtuosos.
She makes me want to dance,
On these melodies where my body seems frenzied
She is all that is most unique.
It has several more or less magical titles
This sweet symphony is called "Music"
Misbah...
Your poem is wonderful.
Music to my ears.
I composed a poem of 30 lines in total. His requirement was not more than 25 lines. So, he asked me if I can remove 5 lines, upon his request, I deducted 5 lines. The one I've shared here is the complete and original version.
Congratulations to you all! Those musically-inspired poems are fun to read.

Loved all your poems, Brenda, John and Misbah...Congratulations!
Mine was not about any particular song or instrument though. It was about a concert arranged around 50 years ago as a support for my country during our liberation war. Since all of you have posted it here, I am happily posting mine too...
“The Concert for Bangladesh” and a Tribute to George Harrison, Ravi Shankar and Friends
Farah N Huq
On this never-ending paved street
As I walk past this sea of faces,
I stand amid these towering concrete
To see the footsteps, I left as traces.
I find more traces in the wind that blows
From a time long back in the past.
As I take from the air a breath of freedom,
I reflect on a history that is here to last.
I owe this freedom to our gallant fighters,
Who fought the war to set us free,
And I humbly recall a different battle
Fought by some friends who then made history.
These friends did not fight this war with arms
With love, they plucked a tune in sitar,
They fought the battle from a distant land
By strumming on their fond guitar.
I wasn't there to see them sing
But I can feel the traces of their song,
Their melody still holds witness to humanity
Their legacy stands bold and strong!
They played their music as a token of support
An act of kindness that went a long way.
It has been, since then, 50 years of our independence!
And with undying gratitude, I would like to have this moment to say...
Thank you, dear George Harrison, Ravi Shankar and Friends!
Thanks for sharing your poem with us.
Congratulations!!!
Thank you, dear Brenda. Congratulations to you as well....

Thank you so much, dear Misbah! I am glad to know you liked it. I enjoyed reading your beautiful poem as well. Thank you for the share and congratulations once again! My blessings for you always...
Thank you, Brenda! I am happy to know you liked it. That concert, as I’ve heard, was the first charitable concert organized ever and included some of the best singers of all time. My country has truly gone a long way since then. Like I always say...A little support can go a long way...
Here is a link to a documentary on that concert from 1971...

A wonderful tribute poem, Farah. Congratulations to you also and thank you for sharing it here.
Thank you so much, John! You have given me that “support” I was talking about, in HubPages from the very beginning and I cannot thank you enough for it! Blessings for you always! I am truly happy to be able to share it here and get your positive feedback. Thank you and congratulations to you all once again! The book is ranking well in the Amazon “poetry-new release” category right now. So that’s good news for all of us!
It is always my pleasure, Farah. Yes, that is good news that the book is doing so well.
Thank you, Farah for mentioning your published poem. I haven't heard about the concert before but now I do. Congrats to you!
Thank you so much, dear Surovi, for the wishes! Well yes, it was before any of us were born. I first came to know of it from my parents. Your brother or your parents will surely be able to tell you more about it. Our national museum has a corner for this actually. You can also check the link to the documentary about the concert. There are quite a few of those. Let me post the link for you again. My blessings for you dear.
