I agree that there's too many... and some of mine have already been mentioned.  But, today, I needed a laugh, and this guy always gives me one.  Way offbeat, and a fairly new hubber, but I never leave his hubs w/o a smile on my face.

I think I'll keep revisiting this link and add names as time goes on.  Here's a couple more:

    http://hubpages.com/profile/Jen%27s+Solitude
Jen is a very brave and cheerful woman who writes hubs on many topics, including her treatments for MS.  I enjoy reading ALL her hubs--she's a very articulate writer.

    http://hubpages.com/search/include:hubs+dohn121
Dohn is a professsional writer.  His Revenge series is something else!  A don't-miss installment just about every week.

    http://hubpages.com/search/include:hubs+Veronica+Allen
Veronica writes on home, family, and child raising issues.  She's good--very good!

      Hey B.C.,

Just the simple fact that you make any particular remark about the thread, in and of, itself. Makes one wonder...Do you put yourself above other people much?

You want call me childish? Yet, you foolish action of opening your mouth in the first place, was absurd, not needed, not warranted, and should NOT have been said in the first place.

Simply because your words would insinuate YOU are better than those who are actually promoting other Hubbers.

Go look at yourself in the damn mirror. You should be ashamed of yourself, but you cannot even see that you action have caused me to respond in a negative manner, on a thread that is for positive energy.

      Get grip woman. Damn.

    wow , an entire column..

    such as figured..

I was only stating the obvious, and no..unlike those who like to throw out the most popular , who have nothing better to do but sit on a website...I am no better than anyone...as many of some hubbers think of themselves, but simply must take it and point out to the least obvious person around...

I have never stated I am better than anyone ..

read some of the profiles..I find it FUNNY a certain [person has said this about me..

as for this I am done..

I do not continue on with the childish comments or attacks..

While some might see these threads as nothing more than openly fanning the popular, I see them as an opportunity to talk up the unsung heroes. If I didn't feel that way I wouldn't have posted a similar thread four months ago.

Writing is hard work, which is why I think hubbers earn the praise they receive. Now, if someone only has 2 hubs and has been here 30 years (yeah, I know the site hasn't been around that long, but I wanted to make it clear I was speaking generally) then I can't see paying homage to that person unless they are extremely helpful to others in the forums.

On another note, the other side of popularity on Hubpages is people feeling a debt of gratitude to others who have given them great things to read, helped them to learn how to use Hubpages, or have just been there when they needed to vent.

It's not like in high school where someone is popular because they are rich or genetically perfect. Wealth means nothing on a forum and we all know many of the avatars are fake, though we can't always be certain which ones.

The presence of mind for some is that the popular crowd on forums are those who post 24/7, but I can (and won't) cite examples of some who have posted 24/7 in the past and have been ignored, as no one took their posts seriously.

People have to work for popularity on a forum, and that in itself deserves some recognition - though I think it better we recognize one another for our writings as that's the reason we all came here. Regardless, these threads are needed to remind everyone we are all one big family and to give people a chance to reward (in writing) those they have felt inspired them. smile

you should talk. you did the exact same thing to me when i tried to have an intellectual debate with you about immortality being a possibility.

edit:  you argued it was a possibility.  then i came in and commented on how it would never be a possibility.  however, when i tried to debate with you. you just mocked me and rolled your eyes at me as if my opinion was nothing to you.  i find it amusing that it's okay for you to mock and dismiss my opinions.  yet, i'm supposed to value yours.  talk  about double standards.  roll

That's because you cannot wrap your mind around "World Peace", what makes you think you can wrap it around the "Immortality" concept?

              Let's be real.

who said anything about world peace?  all i said was that even if immortality could be achieved, you still have to worry about the possibility of our own sun going nova or a meteor hitting us.  thats all i said.  plus, nasa is being dismantled as obama deems it unnecessary.  therefore, how do you propose we can survive that?  you can't say that all the medical science or technology would save you from the burning sun if it goes nova pal.  nor can we survive a meteor. that's being realistic. plus,  do you honestly believe our own governments want us to live forever?  be real. there's no money for them in that.  mankind is selfish and greedy. heck even before  money was invented, there was bardering, you can look that up in world history since you claim to be soooooooooooo enlightened.

yeah, you do make an excellent point there yoshi97.  I feel the exact same way about this forum thread, as I didn't see it as a popularity contest if you ask me.  Just acknowledging and honoring great writers, that do deserve a lot of respect.

However, I don't agree with you on the whole concept that everyone is equal on hubpages forums, as I think some hubbers  are more equal than others if you ask me. as I've seen a lot of great hubbers like wsp, tantrum, and A Texan get banished for even the tiniest little things on forums or hubpages in general. yet i see certain other established hubbers get away with murder, and suffer nothing for their exploits.  not saying its anyone in particular or am I implying anyone's name here. Just stating an observation, so I mean no disrespect when I say that.  I do apologize if I offended you by saying that.

Anyway, to get back to this forum though, I completely agree with you about that.  In fact, I would love to list all my favorite hubbers right now, but I'd be too scared to leave anyone out, as I love all the hubbers that follow me, and I love all the hubbers that I follow.  They should know exactly who they are too.  Therefore, it wouldn't be fair if i listed only a select few here.

I totally agree with you Yoshi. I am a new member here (only two months ) but I enjoy writing here. I become encourages when someone visits my hub and leave some comment. I guess it was a painful situation for the writers of pre-net-age when they had to request people to listen to their writings!
As you said it is a big family and we are all its members, we all should try to motivate each other and enjoy for being together. Thanks and good wishes to all fellow hubbers.

    Steve ... Cags ...

We can all agree to disagree, it's our right to do so. However, we need to realize we will never all agree on everything as we are all individuals. After all, the world would be a really boring place if we all thought the same.

And yes, sometimes it hurts when someone vehemently disagrees with something you say in a forum. I remember a post a while back on religion that went catawampus on me, but I realized when it was all said and done that I was posting to have my opinion heard and others were posting to speak their mind as well. As such, to disagree with them (on my part) would be wrong.

Now, if someone posts that gravity isn't real and pencils float up in the air when you release them I'm going to have something to say about that, as that's something that can be proven differently (except in zero G). Regardless, sometimes we must agree to disagree, and recognize that not every opinion will always be the same as our own.

And if I were to enter the immortality debate, I know my opinion would quite possibly ruffle both sides, as I have my own opinion (which I will keep to myself) but it goes to show that we all think differently - and that's okay. smile

i agree with some of the theories here and i disagree with some

the fact of the matter is that it is in some way a popularity contest for some and for others it is not. there are hubbers that write great hubs and are very active in the forums and there are hubbers who are not as active in the forums but are also great writers but these people never get recognition.

i knew from the day i signed up there were cliques and i think its retarded but its everywhere weather it be here or in real life. i get along with most people here though i may not agree with everything they say... it works the other way around to as they may not agree with everything i say.

personally i think everyone has guts to stand their ground and say how they feel. its better than walking (typing) on eggshells afraid to say something that might offend, hurt, or straight up piss someone off. the forums are as successful as they are because newbies ask for help and get it, oldies have fun with  each other, and everyone is able to debate pretty much anything.

i still opt out of dropping names because i can't possibly choose one or two maybe more. everyone i follow has something special about them that they bring to the table and make it enjoyable for me to read.

Yeah if there are cliques here I don't see them. Mostly I see writers just trying to encourage other writers. Some need more help than others! There's always a bigger fish, ad nauseum.
