Did you meet your goals on HubPages this year?

I didn't.  I stepped away for about nine months for stupid reasons, which caused me to lose a lot of productivity time.

I look at people who have been here for short periods of time who have written more hubs than me and it makes me more motivated than ever to be as great at this thing as I can be.  I applaud you all who have worked your tails off and produced massive amounts of hubs.

I'm more hungry and motivated than ever as a hubber.

There is one goal I have in mind now, however, that I hadn't before.  Making money here.  In the new year I plan on taking the opportunity to cash in on my time and hard work.

There is one goal I accomplished here thus far.  I learned.  Still learning, but I definitely took the time to do some homework about hubbing and all it encompasses.

How about you?  Did you meet 2010 goals where hubbing is concerned.

I didn't have set goals.  I just wanted to enjoy writing hubs about whatever interested me, and attempted to write a hub at least every few weeks.  I've written 30 hubs in 6 months, and actually made about $30, which is more than the 76c of my first month

You're doing pretty good for the lenght of time you've been here.

Yeah my intial goal on HubPages was to just write for the enjoyment of it.  I'm just ready to take the next step and get paidddddddddd!!!!!!!

I've always wanted to get paid to write.  Why not start here?

well, I didn't expect to earn anything, but it seems more likely now if I keep plodding along, that I will achieve a payout target

Baileybear, I agree with you. You have to enjoy writing. Earning the money is a plus. I didn't set my goal either. I have not gotten any money as well. Hope maybe this year, I will. I have slowed down and kind of got side track. I recently found interests in photography. I am on SOA as timtim. You might enjoy some of my photos.

Glad you hit your goals of 150 hubs and that you're getting some money from it. My goal as far as hub production is to hit 100 hubs in this year.  I might surprise myself and go beyond that.

I just got started in earnest the last few weeks of December so I didn't have goals per se except to start getting some hubs up.

Some were just venting, others were keyword researched hubs that I hoped would create some revenue.

I too would like to create an income stream here ... we'll see how that goes! That's a 2011 goal.

I finally set up my google adsense account, but i still haven't done anything with amazon or ebay.  I don't know about ebay, though.  I don't hear much about them anymore.  Seems amazon is the way to go.  Still not sure about that.  Amazon for sure.  Ebay, maybe.  And now there's Kontera.  So i've got some more research to do.  Thanks for commenting, Chuck.

I've heard it's hard to get into Ebay unless you have your own hosted site. Amazon is easy and can be profitable... made more money from Amazon this month than Google, that's for sure! If your hub discusses a particular product, that is when Amazon would fit in well.

ChuckHuckabyposted 13 years agoin reply to this

All I know is that it supposedly performs best if you are getting lots of web page views... high volume.

Unlike Adsense, Kontera scans your articles and finds keywords of interest to its advertisers. Kontera highlights them and pays when the link is previewed and clicked through to.

I've heard it is good but I'm too new with hubs or kontera to be using it much though I did sign up.

I don't think I'm ready for Kontera either, even though I've been here for a while.  My hubs get ok views, but high volume, not yet.  So I'll just stick with adsense and google for the time being.  I feel sure that I can do very well with them alone if I stay focused and am patient and persistent.  I really appreciate your help.  I know you'll go far on HubPages.  Your attitude is awesome.  Thanks again.

Actually I'm not much of a goal-setter, but my earnings are starting to pick up at a faster pace, and that is encouraging me to become more active.

Yeah, I said I wouldn't make any new year's resolutions this year, but I guess I just did.  I just didn't realize the opportunity here before.  Not really.  I just wanted to write for the sake of expressing myself.  That's still at the heart of it for me, but I would feel robbed if I didn't take advantage of ever oppo I can here.

I didn't meet them at all, but things went a bit south for me so I guess all in all the fact that I met payout for the first time at 15 months with really only about 12 of those in a serious writing frenzy was one goal met. This next year is looking much better already though.

You can do it Yolanda. I started off forgetting that I had signed up in June of '09, so I didn't publish anything until Sept. '09. Did a couple of the hub challenges and worked my way through the serious depression of my daughter moving across country only to move back again, lol. Then, I found out I was on deaths door literally with an aortic aneurysm and had open heart surgery, so I went into another depression in June of this year, had the surgery in Aug. and have been working a little freelance here and there, published not so much here and low and behold to my surprise I got payout in Nov. This month has been focused on a couple of new projects and I'm now organized enough with that to think about writing again.

Don't give up, I guess is what all that is meant to say, in my usual long winded way.

I really didn't set any specific goals for 2010, but I certainly am pleased with the revenue I was able to generate this year.  Seeing the money begin to really roll in is very motivating.  I just took a look at how many hubs I published in 2010 and I was shocked at how few it was.  I really need to crank out some new material.  I have 30 hubs in the works and some of them are more complete than others.

I did not begin 2010 with a goal since I'd just joined HubPages at the end of 2009. However, I did manage to make a few dollars in 2010. Now I can keep my kitties in kitty chow for the better part of a year, but no I'm not going to retire on my earnings.

Sure, I'd like to make more money, but I think I'm going to surf the internet less(hours disappear when I click from one site to the next.), read more books and magazines, and learn to write better. I think I'd rather work on lowering my bounce rate by writing content worth reading, and I think I've got a lot of work ahead of me to get my bounce rate down.

Learning was my number one goal.  The technical stuff is very difficult for me.  Linking and all the set up, learning the RSS feed.

The patience and assistance of the many experienced Hubbers is priceless.

I agree with Mutiny92, I wish I could rework everything.  I have tried to go back to some but I love the chase of the next Hub.

My goals for 2011 include adding my own personal videos.

    2010 and FEAR
Today's church sermon was about fear.  I have made allot of progress.  In 2010, I had accounts hacked into and my legal name attached to pornography (Hub Page staff kindly changed my pen name to GmaGoldie so I lost allot of momentum because of that and I still have one of videos not working from some hacker.)  When I had to change my pen name out on Hub Pages I was able to persevered only because Hub Pages was right there.

2011 Goals are promoting my Hubs, original videos and of course, more Hubs.

I am addicted and loving it here.

A big thank you for the many experienced Hubbers who held my hand through this learning progress.

So yes, with the help of many here on Hub Pages, I was able to achieve my goals for 2010 and look forward to 2011.

I sincerely hope you do achieve this, but it would certainly be extraordinary if you do. Most Hubbers wait at least 6 months to even achieve first payout level ($100), so it might be wiser to set yourself more achievable goals in order to not be disheartened by failure of unachievable ones. I don't want to sound negative, but know I have been here nearly 3 years and it took me 18 months to reach payout threshold, and even now, I only make about £80-£90 UK pounds per month. I do firmly believe Hubpages is the 'way to go' though, and good money can be made with patience and high quality hubs.

I know where you're coming from.  I've tried to make myself write daily, but truthfully I may just not be up to it.  I'm more disciplined about writing now than I was just months ago, but I still have a hard time trying to make myself produce hubs when I'm not in the mood.  I write better and am more happy writing when I go just go with the flow, as opposed to being so rigid in my routine.  I do have goals to make a little change through hubbing, but I wanna continue to be able to enjoy the process of writing here above all else.

I certainly have nothing against your remark...as we agreed, to each his/her own:)  Hope I didn't imply any offense on my end.

Chuck, this is off topic, but can I ask you another question?

I only came to hubpages quite late in the year, so my goals were:

    1. to make money with both adsense and amazon on hubpages,
    2. to write at least 100 hubs
    3. to get one specific medium competitive phrase listed at no 1 in google.

I achieved 1 and 2, and didn't achieve 3. But, I have still been working on 3, and there is some progress.

The logic between 1 and 2 is simply to prove hubpages could work, and get used to the platform. The logic on 3 is that you don't need a lot of pages to make decent money, you only need around 6 or 7 hubs at the top of google search rankings if it is the right ranking.
