This post is a good start!
So far this morning, listening to Disney hero songs at work has made me happy.
Life in general makes me happy. I think I'm a happy person from the inside out, I have a hub about happiness.
get out your fairy dust~~ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TWwN-3YK … re=related
Standing on top of a mountain in the Scottish Highlands on a sunny summer day.
Walking along the beach on a beautiful summer day, spending time with my grandchildren, walking in my garden, beautiful music and many more things make me happy.
I cannot think of my wife without smiling.
Though I've only known her about 45 years, so that might wear off over time.
I cannot think of my new laptop without smiling, and I've only known her for for about 4 days.
Your new laptop Hollie?!
Come to think of it, when my netbook was new it did make me happy too.
I guess writing makes me happy
eating chocolate
enjoying nature
seeing my goat give birth yesterday
Lots and lots of things make me happy. It's just that my new laptop is the most recent happiness maker.
Haha My laptop is 3 months old and I had the same feeling
seeing my goat give birth yesterday
Ahh, have you named him/her yet?
The boy is called "Rasta" and the girl is called "Blondie". I am taking this opportunity to ask all the blonds to forgive but but when I post a photo here you will understand why I had to call her that.
They sound really cute, can't wait to see the pics.
Here are my babies. The almost white one is "Blondie" and the tan one is "Rasta".
AHHH, Cardisa, they are adorable. Bless them.
Bless, they look so cute. I am guessing you are keeping the boy (which is great as so many people have the billy goats put down at birth, and I could never have done that when I had a goat).
We are keeping our goats...Yikes. I couldn't imagine getting rid of babies. When they are big goats we might sell them. I don't know. My fiance warns me not to get too attached because sooner or later we have to send them away....
I know it is horrible thinking about getting rid of them, but when I used to work at a vets it was standard practice to have the Billy goats put to sleep at birth, mostly because they would never produce milk, and the breeding was largely done just to cause the Nanny goat to produce regular milk. I broke my heart over two 1 day old billy goat kids that were brought in to be put to sleep, and I begged my Mum to let me bring them home to live in our small paddock with my horse and my own nanny goat, but she said no, the grazing was not enough. Of course Billy goats do grow up to be big boisterous and smelly, so if you might need to find the male a new home at some point I recommend you get him castrated to improve his chances of being re-homed ultimately (the problems with smell, disposition etc, do reduce as a result of castration). Some people eat goat meat (never understood that either), so if that is what they might be sold for you really mustn't get too attached as it will break your heart when they go. Best bet if ever you let them go is to pass them on to a rescue centre as they won't allow them to go to a home that plans on eating them.
Misty, we grow all our goats here in Jamaica and we breed them out. Rams are prized animals here and we would never castrate them because people are always wanting to get their nannies pregnant by them. They are the main source of the very popular dishes, ram goat soup also called mannish water and our very own curried goat. It is very important to keep the goats privates intact. Rams are not as hornery without their testicles and we like our rams very much hornery.
But if 'none' of the males are castrated, how do you determine the best males to breed from Cardisa? Breeding from any old male will result in problems being replicated in the kids. Usually the strongest and healthiest of any species are chosen when breeding from them! Interesting you call a male goat a 'Ram' where you are, here we would call them a Billy goat (a ram here would be a male sheep). I assume by 'hornery' you mean aggressive and/or masculine, (this is not an English term). We would not want this unless the goat was for breeding purposes, which most of them are not due to selective breeding of the best specimens.
I know it is a cultural thing, but having had pet goats I can't imagine eating any goat, in the same way as I would never eat a dog or a cat. Just a western thing I guess! I do hope they are killed humanely when they are eaten though, (as in not a case of having throats cut etc).
I want one. In fact, I want both of them.
oh! I just now realize that in all those pictures of Jesus holding a lamb - it was really a baby goat! haha! I can't prove it, yet. But I remember them looking just like this!
Cardisa, how precious. We used to have Pigmy goats. They wre SO cute, and smart, too!
THAT definitely will pass, though the feeling will last much longer if she is a Mac
Budget wouldn't stretch to a Mac, sadly. But, I'm a happy bunny, my new Fujitsu Lifebook Aseries will more than suffice.
And it has green credentials. (7 hour battery life) Whoooo
God, I hate to say this, but...Awwwwwww.
She's a lucky lady.
Peace.
Thinking about it there is alot that makes me happy, probably just a case of being easily pleased!!
My dog laid at my feet with her head on my feet makes me happy.
Not having to leave the house on a miserable winters day makes me ecstatic - it doesn't happen often!!
Watching an old Greek farmer shepherd his sheep across a main road and through a large supermarket car park to graze on the grass in the field beyond, seemingly oblivious to the modern world around him.
What a lucky gal, pcunix! Did you say 45 years married?
My husband, my kids, sunny days, walks in the woods...
There are a lot of things that make me happy.
The best memories I have:
The births of both of my boys
The first time my little one heard our voices (he was 4 months old)
Our honeymoon in Kauai
The day my mom beat breast cancer
Cats and other animals can make me feel so much better, even in moments of depression.
For me it is whenever a new animal is born into my small farm. I am always happiest when there are new feet walking around the yard. Even more so knowing next years bacon is sorted.
I love flowers.. flowers make me happy. Flowers are so beautiful. Also, I'm a sun person.. when I wake up in the morning and see the sun shining.. I know it's gonna be a great day, even if it is -10 degrees Celsius.
Pinky the treefrog (in my profile pic) is alive and well! living in the bathroom eating up the ants and other bugs - only 1 1/4 inches long and cute as can be!
When the caffeine finally kicks in...in the morning...I am very happy !
I already got my income tax (fed and state!) filed! big whoopee!
What a beautiful baby goat, and love the B-day cake. I always think of being in Jamaica with my family when I need a happy thought. Beautiful palm trees, turquoise and green waters, flowers and plants everywhere, so snow.
@ Cardisa, shucks, I was ready to welcome them both to their new home. Thanks for the offer of the photo though! I will be surrogate mummy to the next addition.
A cozy evening after a beautiful day. The loved ones are doing fine. The neighbors are doing fine. I Thank God and Jesus.
I've been wanting to post on this thread all day, but I can't think of anything.
I really enjoy a nice spring or summer day hanging out with friends, walking on the beach, or a nice sunset. But, I'm really happy when I am at an amusement park riding all the crazy rides, and watching people have a good time.
When I go to an amusement park, I think this is what the world should be like. Everyone coming together for the same purpose, having fun, and living life to the fullest every day. Only take away the cover charge.
And, imagining living in a world where there is no hate, war, homelessness, disease, or hunger. Is one of the best thoughts of all.
Completing my online self assessment tax return and feeling all smug because it's in two weeks before it was due. Yeah, happiness.
I'm making happy memories here in Puerto Rico! The weather is perfect and the people are very friendly.
