I wanted to share that me and my girlfriend decided to put up our Christmas tree last weekend since we had some time over the Thanksgiving holiday. After putting it up I started thinking that it could probably make for a pretty solid Hub - I might have to write something up here the next couple of days.

Check out the blog post and video over here: http://www.hupandsteph.com/2008/12/02/i … christmas/

Anyways, I was wondering when each of you are planning on putting up a Christmas tree and if you're not putting up a tree I was wondering the ways that you get ready for Christmas. Also, if you don't celebrate Christmas, I thought that it would be cool to hear about what you celebrate around the holiday season and what things you do to prepare.

We always put up our tree on our son's birthday, November 28th (he was born on Thanksgiving morning). So, it's up and lit. We only have 1 gift under it so far. But, it's a work in progress. And we have 23 days left, right?!? I'm not a person who starts shopping in June for Christmas. Always put off til the last mintue what you can...........

Enjoyed your page. Really neat. My dialup wont let me look at your video, but the rest is really cool.

We always wait up Christmas Eve night then, at 12:01am, since it's officially Christmas Day, we open our gifts. Stay up and enjoy them, then sleep most of the day away and watch football and eat.

Yep we put ours up straight after Halloween had ended...there's nothing like a good old fashioned two month solid christmas booze up.

Theor, When I was 7 my natural father past away on Christmas Eve, it was hard to celebrate asI had gotten older, however when I was 26 years old, I realized that Christmas to me is special as I can celebrate his life and the 7 years I had with them. Talk to dad and let him know how you feel as I am certain that mom would not want it that way. Celebrate her life, talk about her favorite ornaments, but celebrate her as she would have wanted that. I hope that when I go to see the Lord, that my son will celebbrate my life, if I leave the world sooner then expected and I hope that my husband would rejoice in my laughter and spirit. smile
Merry Christmas Theor and try to celebrate her, as she would have did the same for your father and you. smile

I honestly have a deep-seeded loathing for Christmas trees.  I know, what a buzzkill.

No idea.  I didn't always.  Must be a repressed memory in there somewhere.

I never liked Christmas. Even as a Kid. But my daughter loves it. She loves everything. The music, the decorations, the traditions, etc.

My mother got sick around Christmas 11 years ago and died shortly after. I'm only now getting into it again. I decided, just today, to have a Christmas cocktail party. I used to have people over all the time and Christmas and feel it's time to do it again. You are all welcome to drop by smile

My mom died 11 years ago, too-- late New Year's Eve-- It's never seemed as festive since, so I know what you mean.  On the other hand, she always wanted me to be happy, so perhaps I do her memory a disservice when I am saddened by remembrance.

I haven't touched a Christmas tree in years, not even to get presents from under one. I hate Chistmas trees....  My parents put up theirs. and I just look at it in passing. I remember the good ole days when at my grandparents, my cousin and I would pass out gifts.. .Yea, I can't stand doing that bc of the stupid tree. I don't know why, but I just can't stand em anymore.
