Writing is just a great means of expressing yourself, but aside from that, what are other things you consider in writing?

      at HubPages? to make money.

in my real life i write for a living, so, again, to make money.

then there's the creative aspect of it, which i really enjoy, and i can be free with my words and they don't have to conform to any rules or guidelines as they do when restricted by style conventions and technical rules. that is the kind of writing i love to do most but which unfortunately i have the least time to do.

For me, it started out as therapy to get through the death of my husband.  From there, it became a mission to share my experience with others to help them through the same thing.

For me writing is not just an expression, it is having a voice!  Then through writing I can share experiences and encourage others:)

For me, it's a lot of things:

First, I just enjoy putting the words together.  Then there's using writing to earn an income.  Although I never know if I manage to achieve this aim, lots of times I want to offer any readers something interesting to think about.  If I write about personal experiences it's more that I want to share what I learned from them (in case anyone else is going through something similar), because I figure, "Why let some experience go without being turned into something possibly helpful to someone else?".  I write to have a voice, as heart4theword said.

Sometimes I don't care if anyone ever reads what I write.  Others time I imagine someone reading and maybe (on the right piece of writing, certainly not all) "getting a little ride".  If I really do the kind of writing I enjoy, I enjoy using something as "black and white" and "non-artistic" as words to create something that isn't "black and white" and "concrete", and instead feels like something real or alive.

Niteriter, I have lots of times when I actually do stop talking AND writing.  My thing is my embarrassing tendency to have way, way, too many words coming out those time when I am talking or writing.  lol  I'm sick of my own inner and outer voice, so I can only imagine how other people must feel.  lol

Actually, when I joined hubpages, I did so because it was an outlet for my writing - both emotionally and artistically.  However, the writing for me is the easy bit.  I am learning such a lot from the community and some technical details.  It is expanding my knowledge base.  Although I feel frustrated and joyous in one heartbeat sometimes, the journey has been challenging and thought provoking.  So, for me, the parametres have changed.  The writing is the cake and the learning is the baking.

I have found that writng opens my soul and heart I have learned a great deal about myself. It is a journey and growing adventure. Writing is a passion for me. I never realized landing on hub pages would bring me back to the first love of my life, writing.

God made me as I am and what I am is a writer. I don't write for a reason, I write because putting pen to paper and stringing words together is as necessary to me as eating.  My idea of Hell is a place where all the pens are out of ink, all the pencil tips are snapped and there is no such thing as paper.
Do I have a purpose in what I write? No.
Does God have a purpose? I'm sure he does.
The reason I put my writing out in the wide world, on the interwebthingy and in hard copy is so God can do with it what needs to be done.
If my writing has a purpose it is God's and not mine.  I'm just an instrument of his work.
(Non believers and others please note, this is a personal statement of my beliefs and thoughts not an invitation to mock, criticise or generally be obnoxious)
Thank you for conern about my soul, we are having a lovely journey through life and my writing is often an expression of that journey.
I hope this answers your questions.

When I write. It is not only a personal passion of mine, but I always hope to share it with others, and let them experience what I have to say, because I can express myself a whole lot better in writing then in person. It gives me a chance to escape the everyday stresses, and just relax, and I am able to say anything I like.

thanks guys for your shares, well, I write because I am a little bit shy talking to a crowd and seriously, I am afraid I might not conform to others views. So, the only way out is to voice out my opinions through writing. In this case, I won't be bothered by someone else's counter points, and if it happens that  I get negative feedbacks on my writings, atleast nobody sees me. I just give a try

Writing has help me as well. It saw me through several years of depression. Now I am obsessed with pens, and I always have to have both pen and paper somewhere on my person just in case I get that feeling to pen a few words. When I write the words feel like the words have a rhythm like music. I get an inexplicable feeling when I am writing.

Writing is like a companion who behaves like a brat sometimes; but mostly is a non-judgmental, expressive and vibrant friend. It is an extension of you and is a construction from your heart, your passions and pure imagination. It can act as a whisper, a gentle touch, a fog horn, a melody, a crash, any emotion, a release, a piece of news, or most anything you can imagine. It constantly conspires for us to better ourselves somehow, via a multitude of vocabularies and forms. It can experience a limitation of language, but its vehicle of imagination is boundless.

Well in this brave new technological world how many people have lost the art of communication. Now I know most people take communication as meaning replies to email, facebook, twitter etc. but what about the humble letter.

I was trained as a technical draughtsman and as such had to be very neat and precise in handwriting skills otherwise some of the notes on drawings could be potentially illegible and have issues with understanding what information is being given. Now I like my gadgets as the next person and the mere fact that I writing this reply means I have to use this meadium to get to a wider audience. I days of yore then the published book of newspaper was the only means of gettign your voice heard.

But let's not forget the humble pen and paper, go on, write a letter to your friends and loved ones and whatch there surprise at receiving something that has not been computer generated for a change !

I will have to continue using these hubs of course. LOL
