Fun!
Pink Floyd's 'The Lunatic' " There's someone in my head, and it's not me.
"I love you if you smoke,
I love you if you drink,
I love you for the words
you stuck inside my throat,
I love you for your sin,
and the way you turned away..
I hear you in the darkness,
And i will hold you till the day.."
Just A Dream- Griffin House.
" an older version of me, is she perverted like me?"
You ought to know- Alanis Morisette
For reasons that may or may not ring a bell with others on here, I love the line from the Jekyll and Hyde song, "This Is the Moment": "This is the moment, when all I've done - when all the dreaming, scheming, and screaming become one." Besides the meaning, it like the use of words there.
Ricky Martin...
he taught us how to live, he taught us how to love...
And she bangs, she bangs
Oh baby
When she moves, she moves
I go crazy
'Cause she looks like a flower but she stings
like a bee
Like every girl in history
She bangs, she bangs
'The only way to fix it is to flush it all away.'

Okay, here's one from me...I love it, from Jedi Mind Tricks - Blood In Blood Out..
I'm a caged lion, always dying to hurt you...You're just a heathen and you lie like that church do...You're too commercial, still a disgrace, you like to sit around with women watching Will and Grace...I cant overstand your sweetness...
Another one from Nas - It Aint Hard to Tell
....I drank Moet with Medusa, give her shotguns in hell
From the spliff that I lift and inhale, it ain't hard to tell...
I'm getting the feeling I may be the only to "contribute" a line from a Broadway show tune. Oops.
Slow down, Lie down,
Remember it's just you and me
Last Request by Paolo Nutini
You gave me wings and made me fly
You touched my hands I could touch the sky
I lost my faith you gave it back to me
You said no sky was out of reach
You stood by me and I stood tall
I had your................
ladi da ladi da....... You can guess who sang it.
I bet you wouldn't know
Okay, I know this song and I can assure you, I am not gay I just have two sisters! It's Celine Dion-Because You Loved Me. I'm pretty good at this game
Celine Dion? Oh is it called 'You Needed Me'
ok she wasnt the original ,but I can hear her singin it (and me) lol
Lady E, so weird that you brought up that song; because - honest - I was actually considering the words, "..lifted me up when I couldn't reach" and "you were my voice when I couldn't speak". Then I went with the line I did. Apparently, the words of that song hit more people than I realize. (Some of us may have to overlook who sang that song because the words are what they are. ).
"You look like a photograph of yourself ... taking from far far away."
Untouchable Face by Ani DiFranco
I loved this old school song back in the 80's.
There's a hero,
If you look inside your heart,
You don't have to be afraid of what you are,
There's an answer,
If you reach into your soul,
And the sorrow that you know will melt away.
And then a hero comes along,
With the strenght to carry on,
And you cast your fears aside and you know you can survive,
So when you feel like hope is gone,
Look inside you and be strong,
And you'll finally see the truth that a hero lies in you.

Scar Tissue - Red Hot Chili Peppers
Scar tissue that I wish you saw
Sarcastic mister know it all
Close your eyes and I'll kiss you 'cause
With the birds I'll share
With the birds I'll share
This lonely view
With the birds I'll share
This lonely view
Push me up against the wall
Young Kentucky girl in a push-up bra
Fallin' all over myself
To lick your heart and taste your health 'cause
With the birds I'll share
This lonely view...
Blood loss in a bathroom stall
Southern girl with a scarlet drawl
Wave good-bye to ma and pa 'cause
With the birds I'll share
With the birds I'll share
This lonely view
With the birds I'll share
This lonely view
Soft spoken with a broken jaw
Step outside but not to brawl
Autumn's sweet we call it fall
I'll make it to the moon if I have to crawl and
With the birds I'll share
This lonely view...
Scar tissue that I wish you saw
Sarcastic mister know it all
Close your eyes and I'll kiss you 'cause
With the birds I'll share
With the birds I'll share
This lonely view
With the birds I'll share
This lonely view...
When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love
Violin: Rockapella
And he kept a vow from years before,
"I'll never play the violin."
He met a girl with rosy cheeks,
She laughed when he would tell a joke
But she left him for another man,
A man who played the violin.
With a broken heart he sells his clothes
And books aboard a leaky ship
To find some peace in a foreign land
And learn to play the violin.
But before you know it the ship goes down
And fish are swimming in his mouth
But he promises the next go 'round
He'll learn to play the violin.
"And I think to myself, what a wonderful world"
Louis Armstrong
" you're so beautiful...
like a tree,
You're so beautiful..
like some ceramic or something..
you're so beautiful..
like one of those girls i have been definetly
definetly chatting with in a chatroom
You're so beautiful..
you could be a part time mother."

awesome and clever song!
theme song of moulin rouge..."come what may"
suddenly the world is such a perfect place..
suddenly it moves in such a perfect grace
suddenly my life does'nt seem such a waste
it all revolves around you....
and theres no mountain too high.. no river too wide
sing out this song and i'll be there by your side
storm clouds my gather..and stars my collide..
But i love you..i love you..until the end of time
really love this song...
I'm not a slave to a God that doesn't exist. I'm not a slave to a world who doesn;t give a shit.
Marilyn Manson
"In a highway service station
Over the month of June
Was a photograph of the earth
Taken coming back from the moon
And you couldn't see a city
On that marbled bowling ball
Or a forest or a highway
Or me here least of all
You couldn't see these cold water restrooms
Or this baggage overload
Westbound and rolling taking refuge in the roads"
The galaxy song by Monty Python ... actually the whole song, but here's the best bit:
"...
The universe itself keeps on expanding and expanding
In all of the directions it can whizz
As fast as it can go, at the speed of light, you know,
Twelve million miles a minute, and that's the fastest speed there is.
So remember, when you're feeling very small and insecure,
How amazingly unlikely is your birth,
And pray that there's intelligent life somewhere up in space,
'Cause there's bugger all down here on Earth. "
The world spreads its legs for another star
World shows its face for another scar
"You were a victim of my crimes, a product of my rage. You were a beautiful distraction." - Nothing At All by Santana

Dust in the wind by kansas
I close my eyes, only for a moment, and the moment's gone
All my dreams, pass before my eyes, a curiosity
Dust in the wind, all they are is dust in the wind.
Same old song, just a drop of water in an endless sea
All we do, crumbles to the ground, though we refuse to see
Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind
[Now] Don't hang on, nothing lasts forever but the earth and sky
It slips away, and all your money won't another minute buy.
Dust in the wind, all we are is dust in the wind
Dust in the wind, everything is dust in the wind.
what a fun hub this could be

"I´ve watched the stars fall silent from your eyes
All the sights that I have seen
I can´t believe that I believed I wished
That you could see"
"I only wanted to see you laughing in the purple rain"
Prince ~ Purple Rain
you’ll always be a part of me
I’m a part of you indefinitely
girl don’t you know you can’t escape me
ooh darling cause you’ll always be my baby
and we’ll linger on
time can’t erase a feeling this strong
no way you’re never gonna shake me
ooh darling cause you’ll always be my baby
"Always be my baby" by David Cook
Oh - I love Purple Rain. For the music though more than the lyrics
oh, I agree, the music makes the lyrics come alive in all songs, I think. I still get goosebumps when I hear Purple Rain.
Cassidy I`m a hsutla
More money more problems it`s true because the more money I make the more problems for you.
"How can the life of such a man
Be in the palm of some fool's hand?"
from Hurricane by Bob Dylan
There are plenty more where that came from - literally hundreds.
Here's another example from Masters Of War - one of the best protest songs and still as releveant today as the day it was written:
"Let me ask you one question.
Is your money that good?
Will it buy you forgiveness?
Do you think that it could?
I think you will find
When your death takes its toll
All the money you have made
Won't ever buy back your soul."
Wow - that's great!
My fav is from Hotel California
"You can check out anytime you like, but you can never leave"
If you moved to CA from somewhere else (like I did 25 years ago) is has a certain heartfelt significance
Was listening to Hotel California earlier in someone's car when they asked me, "Is this song a ghost story?"
There is mention of spirits and coming to a door. Or is all this merely metaphorical, California standing in for some purgatory place?
Maybe you could enlighten me?
Thanks - a confused Englishman
"....My heart melted to the ground found something true
and everyone's looking around thinking I'm going crazy,
but I don't care what they say I'm in love with you they
try to pull me away they don't know the truth My heart is crippled by the vein I keep on closing....you cut me open
and I, I keep bleeding, keep, keep bleeding love" Leona Lewis
yikes, someone needs a hug!
here's a line from "always look on the bright side of life":
"Life's a piece of sh!t
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.
And always look on the bright side of life..."
Well I told You I need more than a hug......
you're not gonna make me start quoting 50 cent now are you?
Is your figure less than Greek, is your mouse a little weak?
My Funny Valentine , as sung by non-English vocalist!
They say our love won't pay the rent
Before it's earned our money's all been spent
Oh I sure don't have a lot
But I am sure of all the things we've got
Babe, I've got you Babe
I've got you Babe
i've got flowers in the spring
i've got you wearing my ring
and when i'm sad you're a clown
and when i get scared you're always aroouuund
Oh let them say that your hair's too long
With you i know that I cannot go wrong
Then put your little hand in mine
and baby we have mountains still to climb
Babe, i've got you babe
i've got you babe
i've got you baa-be
