Top Ten Comedies: 2007

Updated on November 22, 2009

The comedy movie is considered one that will make you laugh a little or have you roaring with laughter. Some movies are very funny while others are only merely funny by tradition standards. As I searched for all comedy movies made between the year 2000 and 2009 I was overwhelmed by the sheer number of comedy movies, so I began to search by individual years. I was able to pick out ten best comedy movies for each year. My favorite types of movies in order are comedies, action, and drama's, then horror.

Some of my favorite books are by Dean Koontz and Stephen King. If you enjoy stories as much as I do then you'll most definitely enjoy this series of top ten lists.

My comedy top ten lists cover the following years:

Number Ten

Balls of Fury

Balls of Fury is about a down and out professional Ping Pong player.  The FBI is chasing a bad guy and brings Randy Daytona back into ping pong.  Many funny things happen to Randy as he trains to play Ping Pong again, but he vows to catch his father’s killer.  I liked this movie and it had several funny parts in it but I decided to rank it at number ten because it is a little off the wall.

Number Nine

Walk Hard

This is the story of Dewey Cox, musical legend.  The movie follows the life of Dewey through many different stages in his musical career.  Dewey has performed in all musical genres in this movie.  Actually, the movie is a kind of spoof of great movies like “Walk the Line” the Johnny Cash story.  John C. Reilly has made this movie very funny.

Number Eight

Evan Almighty

Evan Almighty takes over where Bruce Almighty left off.  Apparently Evan is elected to congress and he moves to DC in order to do his new job.  Evan’s family is all praying for more time with their dad and husband and so is Evan.  God obviously has a sense of humor in this film just like in the last one.  Evan is turned into a new day Noah as he builds his ark.  As Evan tries to carry on with his life and new job, all the weird things that are happening to him starts to interfere.  In the end Evan learns what was being taught to him.

Number Seven

Knocked Up

This movie shows us that comedy exists in the most normal and wonderful things.  When Alison is promoted at E! Entertainment television she goes out to celebrate with her sister Debbie.  Debbie and Alison are having a great time when Alison meets Ben at the bar.  They get together and have a great time.  That evening Ben misunderstands Alison hurried comment in his drunken stupor.  The next day Alison decides she doesn’t like Ben or what she did and says goodbye to him.  Eight weeks later she calls Ben again to inform him that she is pregnant.  The rest of the movie explores her pregnancy and how a relationship can grow when all odds are against it.

Number Six

Fred Claus

Little did we know but Santa (Nick) has a brother, Fred.  Fred is the exact opposite of Nick because Nick is a saint.  Fred doesn’t like Christmas because of his brother, but when things turn south for Fred he calls for a favor from his brother.  Fred is transported to the North Pole and meets up with his brother to ask for some money.  Santa decides that Fred should stay and earn the money.  Fred ends up messing up the whole operation of the North Pole during Christmas rush.  At the same time the North Pole is being audited by a sinister Kevin Spacey.  This movie reminds us that siblings are to be cherished even if they are a saint.

Number Five

Mr. Woodcock

Mr. Woodcock is about a man that was tormented by his gym teacher in his childhood.  John Farley returns home to see his mother and is surprised to hear that she is dating Mr. Woodcock.  John doesn’t like this one bit and sets off to discount Mr. Woodcock to his mother in an attempt to stop her from marrying him.  The two men face off and John is constantly trying to best Mr. Woodcock in one way or another.  Apparently, Mr. Woodcock knows how to make women speak a different language and pass out during romance.  Anyway, John tries to prove that Mr. Woodcock is having an affair.

Number Four

Good Luck Chuck

Good Luck Chuck is the story of loves misadventures.  Chuck was hexed by a gothic looking girl when he was a young boy.  Women that date chuck and have “relations” with him are guaranteed to end up finding Mr. Right after Chuck.  So with the gentle prodding of his friend Chuck takes advantage of the situation while trying to start a relationship with klutzy Cam, a penguin loving girl.  Chuck decides that taking advantage of these women is wrong and attempts to disprove the hex.

Number Three

Wild Hogs

Wild Hogs is about four middle aged men who are having identity crises.  Doug, Woody, Bobby, and Dudley take off on their motorcycles across country to go to the California coast.  Along the way they have a run in with an insane cop and a biker gang called the Del Fuego’s.   The Del Fuego’s leader is played by Ray Liotta and he chases off the Wild Hogs at their bar.  Woody gets fed up and accidentally blows up their bar, so the Del Fuego’s chase after them.  The Wild Hogs end up in Madrid, New Mexico.  In Madrid they enjoy a chili cook off and slap a bull on the hind quarters.  Madrid is also where they have a showdown with the Del Fuego’s.

Number Two

Superbad is about three high school students that are bound not to go to college as virgins.  They believe that by getting the girls drunk they can get them in bed.  The misadventures that follow them link McLovin to two wild and crazy cops.  The other two secure liquor at various places and they argue back and forth about what they are doing.  This movie is the quintessential high schooler’s trying to get laid movie that has been and still is hilarious in the past and today.

Number One

Blades of Glory

Blades of Glory is about two rival figure skaters and each of their quests for the gold medal at the Olympics.  The hilarity begins when the two rivals find themselves tied for the gold.  They fight on the ice at the awards presentation and end up banned from figure skating for life.  Four years later we find Jimmy working in a skate shop and Chazz working as a wizard in a kids icecapades show.  Jimmy’s bizarre fan found a loop hole for Jimmy to get back into skating, so Jimmy heads over to the icecapades show to recruit a female skating partner.  Chazz sees him and they fight again ruining the show.  Jimmy’s coach puts them together as the first ever male-male skating partnership.  They are competing against multiple gold-winning skating pair Stranz and Fairchild Van Waldenberg.  Their skating shows are what new legends are made of.  I found myself laughing almost through the entire movie.

Well, PL yes I've made some funds off of these enriching pages of hubs, but not so many friends. It is better to have millions of friends than to have millions of dollars. Money doesn't go with you, friends can meet us there.
