So, what you're saying is that you've taken the fun out of child birth, by learning the gender of the child before it's born?

Since it is a boy, I'll go with Michael Paul.

Then again, I don't know you or your background, religion or anything else, but I've given you at least one choice. smile

    Mighty Momposted 14 years ago

Yes, definitely consider all permutations of the name that could possibly end up with an undesirable nickname.
Also have to make sure it sounds good with your last name!

When I named my son I named him after my favorite uncle (deceased) and my husband's grandfather (deceased) as the middlename. Honoring someone in the family is, IMHO, a nice tradition.

BTW, had I had another son, he would have been named after my other favorite uncle, Jimmy. As it is, my favorite kitty is now named Jimmy!

My favorite boys names are Adam, Benjamin, Caleb, Daniel, Ephraim, Frank and Gideon. smile

In my experience, you have to meet the kid, face to face, before you can really name him.  They are all so individual.  With our five boys, we only used one pre-picked name (first and middle.  All of the others required some alteration.

Ivorwenposted 14 years agoin reply to this

When my brother is wanting to explain something, he use to begin, "Let me be frank with you,"  To which we would reply, "Okay, I'll be Joe."  lol  It would make him so mad.  big_smile

Would much rather have Frank be a family name than the ones that get passed around my family:  Herbert, Henry and Augustus.  Fortunately, I am not a boy, and therefore my children escaped those names.

If you google these names, you'll come up with the hero associated. I like the idea of naming kids after someone they can model. Someone who was a good example. Names I like:

Eric Liddell (although I realized the middle name may cause some teasing a.k.a "you're little")--olympic runner and missionary
Robert Lee--Southern General during Civil War
John Pelham--Southern Colonel during Civil War

All three of these guys were dedicated Christians.

If you like the name Michael, but want something a little more unique, you can always do a two-word name like:

    Sean Michael
    John Michael
    Shane Michael

I like the first name to end with /n/ because it flows off the tongue nicely, but there are other possibilities as well.

    Congratulations as well.
