On a hub what do you recommend as the maximum number of RSS feeds?
How many do you put on your hubs?
I'd say 5 is enough. I put 3-5, usually 4or 5.
I don't want to overwhelm the reader but links (RSS feeds )are helpful and recommended
Do you mean 3-5 RSS feeds, or one RSS feed with 3 to 5 links?
I have a maximum to of two feeds I set myself.
However, I only have one or two hubs that have more than one feed.
I just recently added feeds to every single hub I've created.
Interesting Cags. Have you noticed an increase in traffic by doing that?
I just completed today. That how recent the change was.
But, I'll let you know. I mean, feeds are only for two reasons (a) refreshing content + (b)sharing hubs from others.
I also use them to
(a) link to my own related Hubs
(b) link to my related websites
You'll note I say "related". Unless I'm participating in a team project like Hubtrails or Hubmob, I avoid RSS feeds that might produce unrelated links. To me, that's just diluting my keywords.
I usually use only one RSS feed per Hub. The only exception, again, is where I'm in a team project. Then I'll write my Hub as normal - which may include an RSS feed to my own work - and then add the team feed.
I always set them to 8 and first sentence only. I usually include a News capsule, too.
Thank you for sharing Marissa. Sounds like you have it down pat.
@Katie, yes news feeds also automatically refresh content. But, I think that the news feeds are not as reliable as the RSS feeds.
Plus, if you have news feeds next to pictures or more than one picture, you can end up with a big "white" space, which interrupts the flow of a hub. So, those you have to watch or check on.
Good to know Thanks Cagsil... Good night ZZZZZ
I would never use a News capsule in the body of the Hub. The only benefit of a News capsule is "Google freshness". I don't want my readers tempted away by it. So I put it right at the bottom of my Hub, below the comments - where Google will see it but my readers are less likely to.
I just set two and set first sentence. I am afraid hubpages will bann me if i use more than two links from my blog
Great thanks for that. I am interested to know the impact of RSS feeds when I'm in a team project.
I use Hubtrail RSS + sometimes it's also a hubmob + one other. Is that going to be too many? They would of course be targeted as I want to keep the traffic "close to home".
If you're writing as part of multiple projects, then you have to include the RSS feeds. Any dilution risk is offset by the fact that you're getting equivalent links from other participants, so it's OK. But the very fact it's a project usually means the Hubs are sufficiently related, anyway.
I usually put those feeds under the comments, so it's clear they're not part of my own content. I'm not sure there's such a thing as having "too many".
Thanks for your well considered comments Marisa.
When I've used news items that's just where I've put them - mainly because I didn't know what else to do with them (at least in my earlier days here!)
I like your comments regarding the dilution effect being offset by the equivalent links from others on HP. Thanks.
I add feeds to all my hubs and as Cagsil mentioned it keeps your hub updated and fresh. Google likes that...
News can do the same in terms of refreshing hubs, is that correct Cag.?
Articles in the eyes of google need to be continually changing and evolving. That is why news capsules are good because news is always changing. RSS feeds in articles are great as long as they are related in some way but it is always good to have links because it makes your article appear more valuable in terms of seo -- well that is my theory anyway. You have to find your own way because it is always speculation and the rules are always changing

I'm trying to understand RSS feeds. I think the capsule is a reader that aggreates feeds from other websites, but I'm not sure

I really can't point any of you to the many discussions there were about whether RSS feeds that display our own Hubs in a specific Hub of ours are a violation of the HP rules or not.I read info that the "best", "latest", and "hot" categories were not appropriate to add...

There has been a discussion thread about this, but I just wanted to alert other Hubbers to it.You will receive a warning email about some rule violations - but for some, your Hub will show a warning on the Hub itself, but you'll get no email. So you need to fix these issues up now, don't wait till...

I have not quite got the hang of RSS feeds and have no idea of the advantage of 'feeding' my hubs.Do feeds count as links? (I'm silly but willing to learn here)My hub feeds, are all my hubs linked in the feed. Does the feed generate a link for all my hubs or just the latest? Humor me here and...

Hi guys,Anyone knows how to do that? What I only know is that there is a link for hot and latest feeds but not fr individual hubs.Any ideas?
