If the church worship on sunday you know not to follow that one. Sunday is a day made up by the Rome church and Empire Constantine. There are many churches that worship on Sabbath, how then do you know which is the right one. There is only one church in the world that keep  the commandments of God and the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Rev 12-17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

There is nothing wrong with attending Church service.

         I reiterate !!!

There is nothing wrong with attending Church service !!

IF it is seen as communing with fellow believers.
What I believe to be wrong is to associate the absolute necessity for attending church services.
And to place too much importance to the right day to worship the Lord.
We should worship the Lord every day.
I think to place too much importance to a day of a week can become  worship towards THE day.
Jesus condemned the Pharisees for following the letter of the law.
Again there is nothing wrong with attending church services, unless, ...
We are doing as the pharisee did,  making sure that they were on the street corner when the hour of prayer comes, so that everyone can SEE them praying and being SEEN as righteous.
For them, they have received their reward. (Jesus said)

I respectfully am asking; Serious question here,..  when did the practice first begin that requires going to church a requirement for Keeping the Sabbath?

Please answer this for I am confused ?

Because if going to church is not a requirement in the keeping of the Sabbath, ? , would it matter what day that we go?

At the begin of the world, Genesis 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

God sat the example but, no one want to follow. Look at Jesus custom, which should be your custom. Luke 4:16
And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

This is just the way that I believe.
Every time that Jesus entered into the synagogues, it was for the purpose of reproof.
Scripture never mentions his praying or making supplication within the walls of a synagogue.

He said it is better to pray to the father in a clauset with the door closed than out in front of man.
He frowned upon us following the traditions of man,
I think that would also include any traditions that WE might establish.

I don't think he frowned on the traditions, but on the motives of people who many times were only interested in putting on a show or gaining power over others.  A sincere heart, in or out of church, is what God wants.

Right, a sincere heart.  The traditions of man is what the Pharassees had against Jesus.  Jesus didn't hold to all traditions of man. He ate with unwashed hands, he healed on the Sabbath.  Holding to the traditions and not looking into a mans heart is what Jesus had against them.  They cared about holding to the letter of the law and not having compassion on man.
They did put on a show, tried to "look" righteous.

Well said,  Though it is difficult for us to tell which traditions we should follow and which ones we shouldn't.
all of us having different opinions and all.

So I wonder about holding to any. Or should I say how strongly we should hold onto them??

Hi Jerami!  I think, follow your heart.  Your heart is what God is gonna look at.
The Sabbath?  Jesus said not to think of one day above another.  Talk to God EVERY day   Love, every day.  Treat people the way ya want to be treated, every day.

Do you have any specific tradition in mind?

                  Love ya!

                    No not really.

I was mostly just commenting to the Sunday vs. Saturday worship.  That!  I believe could be considered as a tradition upon which we should not judge another .

You are correct,   I may have overstated my point of view just a tad.
But I do wonder how easy it might be to allow even our own traditions to cause us to slip?

Hi, haj!  I don't think that it matters much to God which day you worship on, just so you worship him with God's people.

Some people have held literally to the Old Testament law, but Jesus came to give us a new covenant or testament, described by Paul and Jesus.  That new covenant is the one that God made with Abraham in Genesis 12, 15, and 17, made new by his life, death, and resurrection.  In 2 Corinthians 3-7 and Colossians 2 Paul describes that new covenant in which the literal, external forms of the national law of Israel have been done away (the letter of the law), but the internal principles of the law remain.

Therefore, the early church could've chosen any day to worship but chose Sunday as a day of worship and rest from daily work.  They could've chosen Wednesday but chose Sunday as Jesus' resurrection day.   That's what I have come to understand from the Bible; you can believe as you wish.

I think 'following' any church is fraught with problems. It's been my observation where I live that churches are more a social group than anything else. Why else would there be 25 baptist churches within a 25 mile radius?

It appears to me that 'church' it is more along the lines of listening to the salesman with the best lines, because you don't want to have to speak for yourself. Somewhat akin to a ' Spirituality for Dummies' manual.

I don't know?  I would think that in a close nit family, that lives close to each other do keep their denominational beliefs.
If you are speaking of denominations of Christianity, ?,
I would guess that about half do change denominations.

going to church on the seventh day, does the Bible state that God started His work on monday? He started His work and after 6 days He rested, A lot of people word 6 days, then have a day off, their 6th day would be sat. Did God go by the calendar of today?
The first day of creation I can just hear God saying I must wait til tomorrow to begin, so man will not get confused.

Love the Lord thy God, and love thy neighbor as thyself, on these two things we can forget the rest of the law

of course you must all know that church is not a day of the week,or a building....its a body of believers,or in the eternity the bride,of our lord jesus christ....when the lord in st.mathew says, the things that cause your body to sin,it is not your flesh body, but the church body....examples being, dividing the church on certain doctrine,or gosssip about a church member.remember the lord said a house divided cannot stand, especially in a body of believers.....in the years following the pentecost, most believers were stil hiding, and avoiding the law of moses doctrine,so they can only meeet  a few times a year,or more often depending on location.....what was the content of there meetings, well of course the torah,or old testament, and all the prophesies concerning christ, and our lords birth, teachings, and crucifiction..plus hymms, and prayer
whats missing in todays church?...of course the teachng of gods word...the famine of end times prohesy is not the lack of bread, but the lack of the word of god...studied chapter by chapter, and verse, by verse.......i do not personally attend a church...would i like to fellowship with other christians?,of course, but have yet to find a church that teaches gods word...not just an hour study on a tuesday night.
for the last seven years ive been blessd to have a bible study in my own living room, and my church is "THE SHEPHERDS CHAPEL"a small nondenominational church in gravette arkansas...i was losing all hope about learning the real truth in gods word, and low and behold there was this white haired pastor, with a southern drawl teaching the bible chapter by chapter verse by verse..his name is pastor arnold murray.a crusty old marine who god ordained to teach his word in simple language, and truth.,,,,god bless pastor murray, and shepherds chapel............ps.dont believe the cult accusations..satan is a liar, and father of all lies...godless you all

A Church that follows Biblical doctrine. Too many Churches follow whatever they think is better for them and not what is in the Word of God. Many are so far off that the Bible takes a backseat to everyday life!

Maybe that's because the bible is impossible to follow. Do you kill people for working on Sunday? Do you kill your children for talking back to you? Would you kill your neighbor just because he did not share your religious beliefs?

It's obvious that everyday life is easy to live without the bible. And, one can actually develop morals and ethics without it's teachings of hating and killing others. smile

I have. And, although I get a different message, I do see that those who take it as all fact don't. I wasn't actually commenting on your statements on the Bible, I was focusing on your comment about the development of a moral compass. I apologize for the confusion. smile

Unfortunately, the bible will not allow anyone to develop a moral compass. If anyone actually did follow the bible to the letter, they would eventually get sent to prison.

We have laws now, so Christians can no longer commit the atrocities they have in the past. smile

But Beelzedad, you do understand that many people, commit many crimes. They aren't all Christian. You do realize this? Man is not inherently good. Woman maybe, but not man.

Funny how the prisons are full of Christians and only very few atheists.

Yes, I do understand you must refer to biblical scriptures for your information, however man is not inherently bad, but is instead full of compassion and understanding, altruistic as the day is long. It is the fact that religions don't allow men to be this way and develop their moral compasses, but instead teach men bigotry, hatred, oppression, delusion, lying, etc. smile

I do disagree that the scriptures have been used as a weapon by many, but if you are to be honest you wil concede the point that many identify themselves as Christian simply because they do. Not because they are.

It is sometimes seen as the default box to check.  Kind of like white.I'm not white, whatever that is, I'm an american mutt. Like most everyone else. But it would be tedious to have everyone check a box for every bit of their ancestry. Who really thinks about it?

It's the same with religion. You have a couple of choices to choose from, you say Christian. Because that's what you assume everyone else is, you've heard 100 times this is a Christian nation. People don't think. It doesn't mean that just because they call themselves something that their philosophy is that of an evangelical, or a Christian. Bad people do bad things. They are not all religious people.

    Exodus Chapter 20, 8th commandment:

8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

The Bible, I dont believe, states whether God started creating the earth on a Monday.  We, somewhere along the line, probably for convenience sake, chose either Saturday or Sunday to worship.  Jesus Christ wasn't born on Dec. 25th.  We chose to celebrate his birth on that day.  He didn't ressurrect on Easter sunday either(if you check your calenders Easter keeps hopping between March and April).

"How do we know which church to follow?"

That's a tough one. Here's my thoughts on how to know which church NOT to follow. I'd avoid...

Any church that claims to be the only "true" church

Any church that's overly interested in your money

Any church that tries to get you to isolate yourself from family or friends

Any church that claims their rituals are necessary for your "salvation"

Any church obsessed with the devil and eternal damnation

Any church which teaches that non-members have less worth than members

After you find a church worth looking into, it should make you feel comfortable and at peace with yourself. Religion should complement your beliefs, not replace them.

Religion isn't viewed as being necessary by a lot of people and if you ask this question, maybe you're one of them.
