Saw, the movies

   I'm a newbie here in HP and I'm curious. I've looked through the threads and I'm sure this topic hasn't arisen before.
   
   Does anyone here actually enjoy watching Saw, the movies. I've lost count how many there are now.
   
   If you've watched them, did you enjoy them and why? 
   If you didn't enjoy them - why?
   
   As for me, I'm feeling ambivalent and am sitting on the fence about the movies. I haven't yet made up my mind...

      I have enjoyed them.  It is interesting to see how many different ways they can kill someone off.  They've gotten pretty creative.

      Hi, I too am a newbie to HP. I have watched 6 of the Saw movies, although I couldn't pluck up the courage to watch the 3d one that was made. Oddly, I did enjoy the movies because of the actual storyline. I felt compelled to watch them even though they are very gory and gruesome. I thought that they were actually quite well written and the psychological terror that "Jigsaw" inflicted on all of his victims was of a personal nature. He had actually studied and got to know his victims before giving them the choice to live or die. This must make me sound like some kind of bloodthirsty nutter, but I do enjoy chic flicks and weepies too. Honest!!

      I liked the first two movies, when the plot still made some sense. I like how the gory deaths bring up strong, visceral sensations that I wouldn't get otherwise. And those sensations in a way satisfy my day-to-day frustrations and anger.
      
      Have you ever been stuck in traffic, wishing to beat the other drivers to a bloody pulp? Of course we wouldn't act on those feelings, but watching a gory scene in a movie lets us vent them out. At least that's how it works for me.

      The first one was the only one that was worth a damn. All the others are unwatchable and painfully predictable. At least the first one had an element of suspense to it.

   I haven't seen any of them and have no plans to do so.
   
   Gore for the sake of gore does nothing for me.

   Hi and good morning,
   I have to admit that the horror genre is one of my favourites. I watched the first Saw and I have to confess that I was a little flabberghasted at the sheer creative violence of it. And yes, there was some plot to them. I watched the subsequent ones while peeking through my fingers - they have certainly got creative with the ways they kill a person. I still don't know why I watched the follow-ups especially if I'm left peeking through my fingers. Curiosity perhaps?
   
   I can see how some viewers return to these films repeatedly especially if it serves as some form of catharsis. I can see how these movies belong to that sub-genre which include films such as Texas Chainsaw Massacre (the original one), Last House on the Left, etc but I think those early movies had some plot and maybe even a little socio-political commentry. But the Saw movies? I'm still left wondering if there's some kind of commentry which I'm missing. They continue to intrigue me...

   99% of horror movies are predictable hell 85% of movies are! Saw was a good series but the last one (7 for those counting at home)was a little overdone. I wish rob zombie would do a couple more halloweens 10x better then the orginals

   I really enjoyed all seven of the Saw movies, some more than others of course. But they were all pretty original, had a large overall story coupled with good smaller stories. Definitely a large mystery as to the overall plot amongst the main characters and to see how the tests play out for each movie's minor characters.

   I enjoyed the first two, as it seemed there was a point to them. After that they just got samey and were just killing people for no reason, whereas with the guy, it was to show valuable lessons.

   Like most of the others, I liked the first two when there was still a clever twist to the storyline.
   
   I have seen all of them, being a fan of horror movies, but wish the writing for the most recent installations were as tight as it was with the first two.

   I enjoyed all of them but at some point it just became too ridiculous as Jigsaw must have had some serious time on his hands putting all of these traps and murders together even beyond his apparent death!!

    I think the SAW movie series works, because they are really well thought out and psychological thriller.
    
    The original one which was the first one they made to me was good because the ending was not predictable and it was like a whooah moment.
    
    After that it just seemed to get too violent and scary for me and I was not able to continue watching them.

    I really don't like the Saw movies because A, they seem like Gore for the sake of gore, B,I don't care for torture porn, C,The motive of Jigsaw is stupid.  "People don't apreciate their lives so I will torture and kill them so they may be enlightened." LAME.  These are the same reason's I didn't like Seven.   If I want to watch a gory movies with a plot I'll watch Hellraisor 1&2.
       P.S. Brad pitt was a dope, he should have shot kevin spaceys knees out.
