How do I make it good? I've updated the hub.
    What do I do next?!

    Thanks in advance, Marcis

Not sure what you've said there, but what is it that you've published? What was it about? Where did you get the information?

I wouldn't advertise this on non-DMOZ forums, you know... I personally will not lift a finger to help you...

Maybe you should tell us about yourself on your profile, and maybe publish a hub?  smile

Like it's a little hard for me get things right here.
I've launched a hub, but the admin asked to
remake it. I did it, but nothing ever happens.
I've using a usabillity specialist in USA, but
this website is getting me nervous smile

What, pray tell, is a usabillity specialist?

Software tester who specialises in ensuring that a website or software program is easy for a a user's perspective: layout navigation, colour scheme, font size that sort of thing  - the tragic thing is that this is seen as a bit of an add on for some developers - instead of a starting point!

And no knowing that definition does not help in working out what the OP was asking!

You're using a usability specialist in the USA or you are a usability specialist in the USA?

Like maybe I'm dumb, but have not you heard of website usabillity issues? Never read the book "Doen't let me think"? smile It's getting webpages user friendly, so they know what to do next.

I've read "Don't Make Me Think" actually. I'm still trying to understand the problem. Are you saying that you're having problems with the usability of Hubpages? If so, can you be more specific?

  7. Mark Knowles profile image59
    Mark Knowlesposted 16 years ago

Well, this sounds more like a quality issue than a "usability" issue. This may help:

Sounds like his Hub was flagged as substandard so HubPages took it off.   He's rewritten it but "nothing ever happens".

Is the problem getting it republished, do you think?    If a Hub is unpublished because it's substandard or duplicate content or whatever, do you have the option to "Publish Now" or do you have to cut and paste it into a whole new Hub?

  9. DigTheDupe profile image59
    DigTheDupeposted 16 years ago

    1. I doen't see no "Publish Now" or "Republish". So no idea what to do next.
    2. The content is not just copy + paste. And I do not want to make another duplicate hub on this topic. I wan't this hub working, but somebody has made it impossible.
    3. Any solutions?!

    Thanks in advance

Misha, click on the "done editing" button when you're editing after you've clicked on the Publish Now button. Publish Now doesn't reappear for me either after it's been clicked on the first time to publish the Hub, but Done Editing does and that has been working.

I honestly don't bother to submit my sites to search engines, I just make sure the content is good and linked to from my Facebook etc and join relevant groups who would be interested in it. Works a treat - if you post where relevant and where allowed people will want to look at it. I've been a web writer since 2001 and am pretty highly listed in my subjects on Google. I'm happy enough with that:) That approach works well also provided your Keywords and tags match, and people who are interested in your content will most likely link back when they share it in other groups or build their own sites. I know that my knitting newsletter gets forwarded about all the time, some of the very first ones still appear in my stats look up, from more than two years ago.

    LOL - Why not Misha?

Although I would have though a basic understanding of English was required to be a DMOZ editor and I can barely understand what he is trying to ask.

  11. Misha profile image62
    Mishaposted 16 years ago

Cause millions webmasters around the world are furious about DMOZ. They have quite a load of crap in their directory, and they regularly ignore good sites submitted to them. However, it is perceived that being listed in DMOZ is important for better rankings in search engines, so millions of webmasters are trying to get in - and get ignored...

  12. mathan1234 profile image60
    mathan1234posted 16 years ago

    Misha,

DMOZ is the open directory project right? Nothing wrong with that. Also, DMOZ isn't just for English speakers.

Just giving benefit of the doubt.  : )

  13. Mark Knowles profile image59
    Mark Knowlesposted 16 years ago

Ah. I have submitted a few, and I agree, so I just ignore them. Every time I have searched for something, I found nothing but garbage anyway. smile I can't say I have anything against them though.

I think they are primarily English aren't they?

  14. Misha profile image62
    Mishaposted 16 years ago

Yeah, but they have branches in other languages. I know they are pretty active in Russian. So this guys could be an editor in their, say, Spanish branch - which explains his language problems...

DigTheDupe seems to have given up and gone back to bed!

It's a shame we can't see a copy of the rejected hub - or can we, if you've got a copy somewhere Dig let us know.

I don't think it would have been rejected because you didn't have an rss feed on it, so I don't think adding one would have made much difference. It's likely to be the content (or more likely lack of it) that caused the problem.

  19. Mark Knowles profile image59
    Mark Knowlesposted 16 years ago

I couldn't work out what was being asked either. smile

    1. darkside profile image62
darksideposted 16 years agoin reply to this

      I'm hoping the former.

Because if a Usability Specialist can't figure out how to use HubPages I don't think that's a reflection on HubPages, rather an indication that the Usability Specialist must have found their certificate/degree in a Cornflakes box.

Assuming they could figure out how to open said Cornflakes box.

  20. Mark Knowles profile image59
    Mark Knowlesposted 16 years ago

Perhaps a cornflakes box usability expert could be called in?

To the OP:  If you're not willing to rename your blog, cut and paste what you have, and add more, then post it and see if it gets flagged again, we can't help you.  You have to play by the rules here.  A lot of people have been flagged, and they have rewritten and republished their hubs, and it was accepted.  I don't know about using the same name.  It was your hub that was flagged, not you.  I'd do whatever I had to do to get it back up if you think it's valuable information.

My thoughts on the whole DMOZ debacle is that the editors are rejecting any sites that conflict with their or their friends' sites, or maybe even because it disagrees with their beliefs of philosophies.   I had a friend who had a site rejected and she didn't get a reason from her editor.  She asked and asked, and finally was told it was because it was "too politically extreme".  It was a site about Evangelistic Ministries.  Now I'm a left winger, and I read her sight, and didn't see it as extreme as all.  I saw it as conservative, but all inclusive, and very informative without name calling or admonishment to anyone who didn't agree with her views.  It was just information about her religion, what it is, and what it does.
