Hitler was a pschyopath. A genius would be able to make the distinction between right and wrong. In Hitler's mind, the destruction of all species who were not light-skinned and blue-eyed was essential to betterment of the world. The fact that he enticed a public and gained a leadership role is not so much genius as it is opportunity and timing. In effect, one could compare it to the same charm which Ted Bundy seemed to have with young women just before he murdered them...not genius but sex appeal. But Ted was no genius....like Hitler, he was a psychopath on a mission. WB

Hitler was no genious. If he was, he would of found another way to try make Germany a great nation. Instead he brought destruction to Germany along with 75% of Europe!. But like most psychopaths, he had some good points. He banned smoking, loved nature and animals.

Not really, here are some relevant quotes from Mein Kampf.

"I had become a little ringleader; at school I learned easily and at that time very well, but was otherwise rather hard to handle. Since in my free time I received singing lessons in the cloister at Lambach, I had excellent opportunity to intoxicate myself with the solemn splendor of the brilliant church festivals. As was only natural the abbot seemed to me, as the village priest had once seemed to my father, the highest and most desirable ideal.

As it happened, my temporary aspiration for this profession was in any case soon to vanish, making place for hopes more stated to my temperament. Rummaging through my father's library, I had come across various books of a military nature among them a popular edition of the Franco-German War of 1870-71. It consisted of two issues of an illustrated periodical from those years, which now became my favorite reading matter. It was not long before the great heroic struggle had become my greatest inner experience. From then on I became more and more enthusiastic about everything that was in any way connected with war or, for that matter, with soldiering."

Like many other "great men" who failed Hitler had some good points that everyone prefers to forget.
He came to power after Germany was in ruin from WWI. Inflation was so far out of control that only radical moves could accomplish anything. There needed to be someone who could galvanize the people and get things moving in a positive direction.
In the begining Hitler did this. He got the transportation system back online.
He got the factories back to work and rebuilt the shattered communication system.
But, as we all know, he was also a psychopath and a sociopath. He took what was a good start and redirected it as he became drunk with power.
The German people wanted someone to blame for the total defeat of WWI and the resulting total economic carnage and Hitler used that desire to target his enemies. He also needed a weak and faceless scapegoat which he found in the Jews and others like atheist, communists, gypsies and the handicapped.
But one also should be asking why Germany was left in such dire straights after WWI. Why didn't the allies help rebuild like they did after WWII.
Hitler was a madman but the web is more complicated than what is most often taught in history classes or shown in documentaries.
Like every other coin there are two sides but only one faces up.

If memory serves, I heard it first in the "The Bridge on the River Kwai" starring David Niven and William Holden.

"Hitler Has Only Got One Ball" is a song that mocks Nazi leaders using blue comedy in reference to their testicles. Multiple variants of the lyrics exist, generally sung as four-line verses to the tune of the "Colonel Bogey March".

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hitler_Has … t_One_Ball

Hitler has only got one ball,

The other is on the kitchen wall,

          His mother, the dirty bugger,

Chopped it off when he was small.

She threw it, into the apple tree

The wind blew it into the deep blue sea

Where the fishes got off their dishes and ate scallops and bollocks for tea

Hitler was one of the most evil men in history.  How could you ask such an inane and preposterous question?   What is your thinking capacity?   Hitler insituted one of the most egregious genocidal acts in the history of mankind.   Before that archetype of Satan came into power, there was a beautiful and thriving Jewish culture and civilization in Europe, especially in Eastern Europe in places such as Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania, Lithuania, and Western Russia, including the Ukraine.    During his heinous tenure, that beautiful culture and civilization was all but annihilated!   These poor souls in addition to countless other Slavs, Roma, non-whites, and others whom he and the other Nazi cohorts considered to be outsiders were ruthlessly placed in concentration and extermination camps and killed!

Was Hitler a nice man?   You should be horsewhipped  for asking such a question.   Please read some intelligent books on World War II and Nazi Germany.   A good book that I suggest is William Shirer's THE RISE AND FALL OF THE THIRD REICH.   Another book I recommend is Eugen Kogon's book, THE THEORY AND PRACTICE OF HELL.   Please start reading these books and please think before you post another embarrassing and ludicrous question.  Thank you.

Wow, I never in a million years would've thought this would be a question brought up on forums.  However, to answer the question, I think every person has the capacity for good just as much as they possess the ability to do evil things as well.  It ultimately depends on the person, and the choices they make in life that determine it.  Was Hitler a good man?  I don't think he was because he because of the actions he did in his life.  But, I think he also owned a dog, and dog's are prone to sensing evil, so there was probably some good in him.  However, based on his actions alone, I think he was a misguided a**hole if you ask me.  Hitler may have been a genius and had some capacity for good, but he was ultimately one of history's biggest monsters because of his horrible acts of cruelty, and how organized a nation to genocide countless of innocent lives just for being born a certain way.

Personally, one can only hope that there will never be another man like him again...

Fair enough.  All I was getting at is that I think everyone has the capacity for evil every bit as they have the capacity for good.  In the end, it boils down to choices that one makes in life that determines how we're perceived.  Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending anything that Hitler did, as I personally see him as one of history's worst monsters along with Stalin.  However, it's the choices that we make that ultimately define us.

Fair enough.  As I said earlier, I too think of Hitler as one of history's biggest monsters, but as I also said before, everyone has the capacity for good just as much as they have the capacity for evil.  The only difference is that some people are prone to act more on one impulse over the other, and it's ultimately the choices that one makes in life that defines us.  As I said before, I'm not defending him for what he did, nor do I intend to.  I'm merely stating an opinion.

You talk of Hitler as if he is a man who simply made the wrong choices in life. he was a classic text book pyschopath.
The difference with psychopaths to normal people as that they have no conscience whatsoever.
People without consciences are capable of the worst more dreadful , most awful acts, and they can still sleep at night.
They never feel regret, because they do not think they did anything wrong.

And you mentioned dogs in a previous post. I used to think dogs were canny that way, but they can't tell a psychopath either.

          1. profile image0
Stevennix2001posted 12 years agoin reply to this

Well you make a very good point, as psychopaths aren't often able to distinguish the moralities of right and wrong the same way a sane person would.

However, let me put it another way.  Hitler was at one point a baby in his life.  Can we all agree on that?  After all, I doubt seriously he popped out of thin air, or was some spawn of spontaneous combustion. Okay, would you say baby Hitler or any baby is evil?  No.  Why?  Because nobody ever starts off in life with a clear definition of right and wrong.  Therefore, at one point in Hitler's life, he was a good person, even if that moment was short lived as a baby.  It still counts.  Now, at some point in his life, SOMETHING must've happened to him psychologically that caused him to spiral down the path that he did.  Again, I'm not justifying anything that he did, nor am I saying that I agree with anything that he did either.

However, at one point in his life, something happened to him to make the choices that he made to become one of history's biggest monsters.  Again, this all goes back to choices that we all make in life.

Besides, I doubt seriously baby hitler came out of his mommy's womb and said, "I'm going to be a ruthless dictator when I grow up."  Anyone who says that is crazy, as babies don't have that kind of comprehension to know the difference; thus something had to have happened to him to make him go down the road that he did.  As I said before, I agree with everyone here that says that he was a monster and a psychopath.  I truly do.  However, I also believe that at one point in his life that there was some good in him, as i like to believe in everyone.  Call me naive if you want, but I do believe that every human being is capable of great things when pushed into the right direction...it's just unfortunate that not all human beings are....

It would be nice if you could simply explain Hitler away as a psychopath- and perhaps he was. But then many of millions of Europeans idolised him and followed him willingly to their deaths.

No Hitler wasn't born that way. None of us are, except....

Hitler as a child hurt small animals. A lot of kids do this. Studies have shown that a higher number of the population currently in prison did this too.

There are some suggestions a faulty gene may be responsible.

Studies are being carried out to identify the gene, then from there it is a simple test to check all newborn babies that carry it.

While I would suggest that all such children are monitored from a young age, Hitler's Germany would have had them exterminated.

We must keep a closer eye on what is being discovered and who we put in power, because there is a very real danger in future of someone (someone who has this gene obviously) deciding to create the perfect race, which is just history repeating itself.

Hitler was not so different to many of his contemporaries. He was not an aberration. That is the genuinely scary thing.

Almost any population can be whipped up into a frenzy of nationalism, militarism and racism. All it needs is bad economic times and a sustained propaganda effort from a determined group that seems to offer a solution.

As an aside- this is one reason that political correctness (as annoying as it is) is actually valuable. It inhibits the development of all those precursors of fascism that exist all around us.

Political correctness cuts one way.  There are groups who are insulated and there are groups who are castigated.  Political correctness is a tool to batter some while insulating others from legitimate criticism.

One need only look at the heated rhetoric from the occupy crowd to see that political correctness is not much of a deterrent.  The antisemitism displayed by occupy crowds won them the praise of the American Nazi Party.  The antisemitism of Obama's own minister is invisible among the politically correct "sheriffs" in the media.

Political correctness is no protection.  A strong defense of the Constitution and the elections it guarantees is a much better one.

I would make no claims to any truth - however, if you would like to examine all the information I am sure your own efforts will reward you.  It is easy to contradict what one has not bothered to learn for ones self.

As for the Jeremiah Wright quote - it never made the big news but it is as follows.

and not from a "right wing" anti-Obama source - what ever that means - since all sources contain with in them information that one with a keen mind can discern.

                    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/06/1 … 13768.html

By the way - very few want objectivity in news or politics or in appraisals of their appearance or character or... pretty much anything.  What we want is for someone to reassure us that we are correct, or smart or pretty.  If one claims that theirs is the objective view you can be assured it is among the least objective.  The claim to objectivity is specious and silly.  Everyone, everyone sees the world through a personal lens and interprets it accordingly.

the OWS movement could well suffer the same fate if they dont forcefully condemn those who would hijack thier enerygy and base for less than honest purposes.

the rebel flag was a scource of southern identiry symbol of rebelion,.... until the KKK co-opted it.

and the swastik was a eastern good luck symbol .......until the nazis hijacked it.
