Twitter works!

   I've mentioned it before, but I'm a short-term goal kind of guy.  Well, as of yesterday afternoon my goal was 2,000 views.  I left it alone from there until I woke up this morning, at which time I found my view count to be almost 5,000.  After a bit of Google Analytics action and some digging, I found the source to be one Twitter post that went a bit viral.  One of my hubs, as a result, got 2,698 views in a matter of an hour.  For me, that's a big deal.
   
   Long story short, I'm sorry for ever doubting you, Twitter.

      Congrats!  That is awesome. 
      Do you have an suggestions on using Google Analytics?  I'm either boring as hell (with my hubs) or just completely lost on using SEO.  I use Google Trends a lot, but I'm not getting traffic anywhere near that.

         Analytics is pretty spectacular once you get the hang of it. Search Overview will give you the landing pages and search strings used to find your stuff, and it gives you detailed information on where your views are coming from.  That's how I sorted out that this Twitter post had gotten my hub spread all over the place. I find the Android app better than the website itself, personally.
         
         Honestly, I didn't do anything special at all.  I got really, really lucky.

   Well, it's still awesome.  I struggle to hit 500 views a day.  I'm going to look into Analytics more, I know I need to broaden my horizons with all of this stuff.  Thanks for some direction on GA.   I feel like a twitter jerk sometimes because I just post my hubs on there, I'm not very active on Twitter.

      I have the same problem with Twitter.  I tried to get a bit of a network of hubbers together to interact a bit about things that aren't self-promotion, but it failed pretty miserably.  Alas, what can you do?

         I find it difficult to network on Twitter.   Sadly FB is better for general communication and discussion, I think?  But then again, sometimes it gets overly dramatic.  I think the majority of my traffic comes from Pinterest because of the topics I get into, at least that is what Hubpages says on the reports I see.  I just want TRAFFIC! lol.

   I just never really got into Twitter. I opened an account and made a few Tweets, got a few followers and then kind of gave up. I guess I should go back there and try again.

      Truthfully I'm not nuts about it either, but I do get a fair bit of traffic out of the deal so I'm trying to work out the best way to use it for that purpose.

   Wow, JG11Bravo! That is truly fantastic, sooooooo happy for you. Keep writing those kinds of hubs and maybe lightning will strike more than once for you via Twitter. Excellent!

   For the first year or so on Hubs, my hubs got good reads but my twitter was in double digits followers. Small potatoes as they say. Then some people with high twitter counts retweeted my links to hubs and my blog and suddenly my followers jumped to a thousand, now it's around 1300 or whatever.
   
   I keep my tweets to things about writing and poetry and magazines and creative writing, as I stared a writer's magazine. Managing Twitter is a challenge, but there are tools like Hootsuite and Tweetdeck that can make lots of it simpler and handier for myself. One great tip I recommend - create a personalized Twitter background for your twitter profile and add your hub or blog name... I did, and it helps a lot. I deliberately made my Hub profile page resemble my twitter profile page.
   
   Twitter requires TLC, but it can - over time - benefit hub writers and anyone else.
