I notice some hubbers publish two or more hubs at a time and just wondered if there is a benefit to this? Seems it would be harder having to answer double or more the comments if you don't get less because of publishing multi; or do comments not really amount to anything in the tally of things? Mainly though I want to know if it is a good thing to publish more than one hub? It seems I have seen some hubbers do that and shoot up in profile score?
I don't think there is any benefit to posting more than one hub at a time. It probably just has to do with the time they have available.
I just happened to notice this one person had a low profile score and after publishing multiple hubs that went up and has stayed there but maybe it has to do with the type too, not sure. Why I am asking. lol
I've also noticed that most of these people who publish more than one hub at a time don't answer the comments. I have almost stopped reading their hubs because the answers to the comments add so much to the hub. Also if the writer doesn't care about his or her followers, why should we care about them?
That could be true but I know of at least one who is active and answers comments but doesn't return visits...so...lol. I have chosen "Hugs" that didn't answer comments and was very sorry to do my followers that way so I always make sure now to check that out and see if they have activity! Still, if someone has something really interesting to read that I wouldn't want to miss I don't care so much for me personally. The interesting info is benefit enough. It really is a job keeping up with everyone sometimes, don't you think? For someone busy with a week long it has to be pretty hard.
Why must a writer provide "proof of care" to their readers?
They don't have to at all if they don't care if they get comments or not; in which case I wonder why they don't just not take comments, especially if they have to be approved and they don't have time for that either.
I agree about the "care" part. If readers take the time to try and leave thoughtful comments that may add to the experience and the author doesn't care enough to respond, then readers may be off put by that..
I agree, Stacie. When I comment on someone's hub, I love to see their reply which tells me a lot about how the author feels about my support for them. Plus, it helps the author if that hub is voted on and shared (if it is a good hub).
I also love to receive comments on my hubs, whether from Hp or outside our community. This lets me know if I should write more on certain topics.
There is no benefit to publishing multiple Hubs at once. We have a few new members who are refugees from Bubblews, where it was beneficial to post multiple posts - maybe they think the same is true here, but it's not.
I have a Hub on my profile about HubPages etiquette, which discusses the different approaches people have to HubPages, I think you'd find it helpful in understanding why some people don't comment/return visits etc. Essentially there are two types of Hubbers - social and business. Social Hubbers are here for the community, and will reciprocate visits, follow etc. Business Hubbers are here to make money from their writing, and for that they need to attract readers from outside HubPages, so that's where their networking is focussed. Socialising with other Hubbers is equivalent to socialising with colleagues at the water cooler - it can waste a lot of time and needs to be kept to a minimum.
Thanks. I will check it out first chance I get.
Jackie sometime I wonder why when I do publish a new hub my profile score goes down.
Last week I publish a new hub and my profile score was 90.
I have viewed hubs, written good comments and reply to forum posts, but the more I do my profile score goes down, it is now 87, so I wonder why I bother, feeling very down about it all.
Oh! Elsie, don't give up. We all experience the lowered hubber score when we publish a new hub and sometimes when we edit an older hub. It is one of the quirks of HP stats that no one seems to understand. Be patient and the score will rise again. This is one reason to not publish more than one hub at a time: score drop. Give each new hub time to settle in and your score will go back up.
Phyllis didn't you just in the last couple months move up pretty high in profile score? If so why do you think that is?
uhhmmmm ... because I am darn good? hahaha
Actually, I try to publish regularly, aim for stellar hub formats, had one spirituality hub that scored really high the first day, and paying more attention to what my readers like. Some subjects I used to write on never got much notice and few comments, so dropped those subjects (they are still featured, I just don't focus on those subjects now). I focus more on creativity and spirituality.
I know what you mean Elsie; I was 89 on my last one and now I am at 83 and it had many comments; still getting some and went up pretty high, like upper 80s. Frustrating, isn't it?
I read somewhere (FAQ, LC,?) that it is not recommended to publish more than one hub at a time and to try and stay on a regular publishing schedule (ie: once a day, every 3 days, once a week, twice a week, etc.). Each hub should be given a chance to shine on its own and have time to receive comments / votes / shares.
I cannot remember where I read that publishing just one hub at a time is the best.
Well I may be having surgery in a couple weeks or so Phyllis and I have been trying to do some hubs up ahead but after I talk to my surgeon I may decide to not wait til I recoup if it may be a bad time and go ahead and put them all...like maybe not the same day but maybe close. Just trying to figure things out. lol
Maybe one a day, Jackie? I am having surgery on 2/16 and am trying to get some hubs in that I have been working on. When you and I are recuperating, we can stay in touch via email for support, if you like. My surgery will be on my lower spine and is considered "minimal invasive surgery" for stenosis. I will keep you in my prayers, Jackie.
Sounds great, Phyllis! Well mine is cervical and I can't imagine it would be minimal since they have to go through the front of my neck to get to my spine and I guess that only makes sense because for some reason no one has told me yet they can't or don't like to go through the back of the neck. Anyway I hope to have all the answers by the end of this month and get a surgery date, which I have been advised should be soon.
I pray all goes well for you.
I pray all goes well for you, too, Jackie. I get newsletters from the Johns Hopkins medical center. Readers can ask questions and receive information on any medical subject. Maybe you can get some info on your type surgery to add to other answers you are waiting for. My sister had cervical surgery about 3 years ago and is doing quite well. They had to go through the front to repair the C1 and C2 areas.
Really I don't know what that means but prob same thing. I think I have at least 3 if not 4 discs to be replaced and a bar put in. Do you know if that is metal or plastic? One it sounds like is completely gone and there is bruising there. I have really just talked to a neurologist not the surgeon and she chose to let him tell me the rest. I am waiting on that....
C1 through C7 are cervical vertebrae. I do not know if the bar will be plastic or metal. Here is a link that might give some clarification on implants:

I have to admit that I happen to be one of the people who is bad at replying to comments. I keep them unapproved so that I can remember to go and visit one of the hubs, but then I run out of time, and the comment sits there forever. Eventually the numbers get too big, and I wind up approving the comments and sometimes replying, but don't always get around to visiting the Hubber's work. I'm sorry. It is just hard to balance everything. It doesn't mean I don't care.
I do understand that and I am sure after awhile your followers will either come back regardless or decide not to. Seems most of my followers expect return visits so as busy as it makes me sometimes I try to get to everyone. If you work outside of HP in any way it does take a lot of your time and as much as I enjoy it, it can become a hassle at times.
Ahhh ! So, you do care, MT. I can understand the difficulty in balancing and managing time. We all have our time restraints and do the best we can - so no need to apologize. I can wait another year or so for you to approve my comment. LOL
I do the same thing Millionaire! So I always have comments as reminders to go back and check in with people--It is a system--maybe not the best system though
We about have to go by that system, it is the easiest...and still not fool proof.
Those scores are a joke. I started removing hubs in November. My profile score remained the same. I removed 60 hubs in early part of December. My hub score remained 86. Yesterday, my hub score took a plunge to 79 with only 1 hub remaining which is now gone to. So for over a month, while I deleted hubs, my hubber score never moved.
Well Linda I wish I was one of the ones that no matter what they do they are in the 90s. I use to be; over a year ago. Once I started making my hubs evergreen I seem down to stay! lol I don't know what good it does us to read any advice for I see different strokes for different folks and that is not just my opinion; that is how it is.
I had taken a hiatus for a year. My hubber score never changed even though I did nothing to my hubs, nor did I add any.
Hub scores could be in the 80's today, and 60 tomorrow. Add to them, make changes, etc, and the scores went down. Makes no sense.
I am done playing the guessing game.
I think there are many benefits associated with publishing many hubs at a time.
one of the benefits is that the quantity and quality of hubs you have is proportional to your earnings.
Another is that publishing many and having time to comment sometimes increases hub scores.
Hub score is about your activity on hubpages.
I also want to inform you that there two kinds of writers here:
Those who are here to make money; and
Those Who are here to read and comment.
The target of those who are here to make money is to work hard to publish as many as possible to increase earnings. They can reply to comments any time they come around.
Thank you for informing us of that. I would like to add that there is no rule that one cannot publish more than one hub at a time, it is only a recommendation. As far as I know, one can publish as often as desired. However, if one wants to work hard to earn money, quality is more important than quantity. Unlike a site like Bubblews where a lot of posts in one day is encouraged, HubPages is geared towards high quality articles that take a long time to put together and which will earn money and keep earning in residual income over time.
If a hubber can pop out a lot of hubs in a short time, then they may earn more money, but only if the hubs are good quality and well-written.
Those who publish less often also work hard to ensure their hubs are of high quality and pass the QAP to become featured. Knowledge of a subject, thorough research, good images, a pleasing format, and expertise in using the hub tools is part of producing high quality hubs.
There is also another type of writer at HubPages and those are ones who are here just because they have a passion for writing.
Thanks Phyllis for that, you heard me say quality and quantity and not just quantity.
As for Bubblews that you talked about, I believe it is a scam site and will never write there.

Dear Hubbers. I've recently noticed so many changes on Hubpages. I had no internet for a week and upon my return things look so different. I like the cleaner white pages with the underline beneath the titles. The column width seems narrower, while now advertisements show up on both left and right...

I have recently begun to completely revamp my hubs. I am publishing several revamped hubs per day. Can this have a negative effect on my HP profile score, Google rankings etc.??

Just had a big drop on my profile score. And all my hubs were featured along with a steady 10 Editors Choice. I say 'were' because 3 were just unfeatured and I don't know what to do about that. My views are over 945,000. Boo-hoo. Hubpages doesn't love me anymore!

Is there a benefit to waiting to publish your hub?Is there a benefit for waiting for your hub score to become higher before hitting the publish button? I noticed if it takes awhile to get everything arranged that sometimes the hub score starts to climb. Is there any benefits until waiting until it...

What is the reccomended rate of publishing hubs?Sometimes, publishing too quickly affects the quality of your work. We need the time to rehash, regroup and get over the writer's block that can hit quite hard at times. We must take note to publish regularly too. What are your views on how...
