Those Lazy, Hazy, Crazy Days of Summer ...

   Picnics, BBQs, Summer Romances, Vacation Spots and just relaxing with a cold glass of lemonade are just a few of the many things we experience during those summer months. There are some wonderful past-times that can be shared with family and friends in the summer that usually aren't experienced at other times of the year.
   
   What do you love best about those "lazy" summer months and what's your favorite "adventure?"

      Outdoor events in the city of Detroit.  The summer brings everyone downtown.

      It will be different for me this year as I am not working and not dealing with stuff. Before the summer months meant there were less lazy days since it was the busy time of the year for the industry I was in, although those lazy times were very welcomed.
      
      What I like best is the warm evenings / nights and wearing shorts & a T-shirt all the time with sandals. The sky is very much more crystal clear too or seems so. My natural sleep cycle is up at midnight and go to sleep at noon.
      
      So, during those hours a long drive with the favorite CD's to listen to is nice. The highways and byways are very much less busy. A trip crawling the desert roads with the window down are interesting and intriguing adventures. Exploring with a walk different wildlife is present and the shadows are enticing. The imagination gives many writing ideas both poetic and prose.

   What I love best about summer is those lazy afternoons when one can find a good shade tree and let the imagination out to play!

   I like summer evening walks, where everything looks beautiful and sunsets are pleasant to be outside in. I take my kids for a walk in the evening and we enjoy feeling comfortable.

   I can't say I'm a huge fan of summer, but I do enjoy going to the beach or lake at least a few times in the summer. As long as the season isn't excessively hot and humid, then everything will be fine.

   I used to love going for long rides out in the country on summer nights. In a neighboring county, there is a certain large field where millions of Lightening Bugs gather. If you go around mid-July after midnight, it is such a beautiful sight to see.

   I love the smells and sounds of summer:
   
   The smell of coconut suntan lotion and freshly cut grass, the smell of chlorine from the pool, the smell of lit charcoal and grilled or smoked meat; the sound of cicadas in the trees during the day and crickets at night, the sound of MLB games with the bat cracking and fans cheering -- televised baseball games are usually going on in the background as we listen to our favorite tunes on the patio. I also have a special "floating in the pool" playlist of my favorite lazy, jazzy songs.
   
   It has been very hectic at my house so far this summer. I hope things slow down soon so I can sit back and enjoy some of the things in the above paragraph!

   There is nothing I don't love about summer - the longer days, the warmth, the green trees (this year anyway, we had a lot of rain) the flowers, fresh veggies from the garden!!!! the time with the kids, hiking, camping, neither of which I got to do enough of this year again.  I love outdoor barbecues, having family and friends over for food and cocktails.  I wish it were summer year round where I am, sadly it will be winter again soon enough and I hate that season.  sigh. 
   
   Oh well, gonna squeeze all the life I can out of what is left of summer!

    I do love to go swimming and read a book. I also enjoy getting fresh air from my windows and walking in the sunshine.

    Me no like those 100+ degrees days... The good news is though the Spring days were just that, this has so far been the mildest Summer in years for me, high 80's to medium 90's instead of the usual death by heat prostration.

       You will survive. Drink lots of liquids ... if you go outside, make sure you use the sunscreen and find as much shade as possible. Wear a hat to protect your head. Where dark glasses, especially the type that protects from UV rays. Limit the amount of time you journey outside. By all means, make sure you are hydrated.
