Whether or not someone believes something is their own business, and I'm not sure that any living person on Earth is qualified to say they're incorrect in their beliefs.

Having said that, I, personally, tend to suspect that when it comes to Karma (or some version of it) people often eventually pay for deeds they do in their present life; but I don't believe any of us pays for what some other brain in some other body chose to do.

I don't believe in past lives, but I believe what you do in this life will come back to you, good and bad. Call it karma, "what goes around, comes around" or "reaping what you sow", what you do will find it's way back to you.

I have heard people say the above but I feel there is a bug in the above. God should punish man in this life time for the deeds he did rather than punish him for deeds of his previous life. How will man learn from the mistakes then!

well, it really isnt about right or wrong. its simply do you believe that what you put out comes back to you? some people who believe in karma do not believe that it deeds done in a past life that we experiance karma for, but the deeds we do in the life we lead now.  that is what matters.  for each life we live brings new lessons to be learned, to mold our souls into a place where we may coexist with whatever you may believe breathed life into us in the first place.  it is a simply question of faith and one you must answer yourself.

Personally, I think people should rather live this life, since its the only one we can really influence directly.

Independent of your own belief system, if there is such a thing as reincarnation or not, the fact is, if we are supposed to be punished for what we did in a past life, the least we may expect is some recollection of what we did wrong, otherwise its like beating a dog with the newspaper three months after he craps on your carpet...

Exodus 20:5, Exodus 34:7, Numbers 14:18 and Deuteronomy 5:9 (all Old Testament scriptures in the Bible) state that the sins of the forefathers are visited upon the third and fourth generations.  I don't believe in reincarnation, but rather what the Bible says.  Meaning, the third and fourth generations will practice the same sins and thus, the same consequences...there's only one way to break this "curse", and that is to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.  Because He forgives sin, we are then free from the curse.  People who don't accept Jesus are still under the curse ~ the law of sin and death, which is what the Old Testament is; the Old Covenant.  The New Covenant through Jesus is what sets us free from that law, thus breaking the curse.

I believe in a past life, we are always evolving physically and mentally as a species.

Therefore it makes me believe our 'energy' soul or whatever you call it is also meant to evolve to learn more reach a higher level.

Our past life's are our evolving learning process, and we are reborn to evolve more !!

I know I probably sound crazy but that is my theory so far !
