Forgive me if this site has been covered in one of the many, many hubs about other freelance sites.
I just came across it and thought I'd check in -- quickly -- to see if other Hubbers have written for them and if so, what has been your experiece?
Many thanks,
Mighty Mom
Christoph and Uninvited Writer both write for Suite101, MM. Bet they can give you the low down.
I wrote for them a few years ago. At that time you were assigned sort of a sponsor for your topic. I had a busy spell and couldn't keep up with it for a couple months and was contiuously harrassed by the sponsor to write something...lol I decided I just didn't have the time to commit to the site and I didn't see much of a benifit to stay.
Things may have changed though, it's been at least 5 years.
What Shirley said!
I think it's drier and more structured than HP.
I've been getting semi-OK revenue at Examiner.com.
I want to know how much money that we can get from examiner.com
I had an online friend who did a cooking thing for them-- she interviewed me once and the article still shows high on Google for my name.
I wrote for them for a brief time, but have since decided that I don't enjoy writing for sites that retain ownership of the articles.
I don't write for Suite 101 any longer. I found I was writing too many other places. I didn't earn very much money either.
Suite 101 does Not retain ownership of the articles. They do require that the writer not use the article anywhere else for one year though. It says on the bottom of every article on the site that the author is the copyrighted owner.
Suite 101 does have editorial requirements and your article will not be published if it doesn't meet said requirements. I've read they only accept 20% of the writers who apply. You have to write 10 articles every three months as a minimum or you get dropped from the site.
I write for them now. Altough they have strict publishing guidelines, I find my articles listed at the top of the seaarch engines. People write and tell me my articles are all over the internet. I have not made much money with them, however.
Thanks, all.
I'm at the point where I want to be selective about where I spent my time. If it's not going to pay off, either in revenue or personal satisfaction, why bother?
Not sure I could handle a demanding "sponsor" like that -- too much like a boss!
Pam -- I recently applied to be an "examiner" too. Fingers x'd they accept me. MM
MM--I'm sure they'll grab ya. My revenue there was better than here at HP right out of the gate and I'm writing about weird stuff (paranormal) in a conservative area of the U.S. (Grand Rapids).
It's not friendly like here at HP though. The comments there are mostly spam or trolls, hardly any *real* ones--and the writers there so far seem kinda weird and competitive. It's not a nice community like it is here. But that's OK. It's not hard to pump out three short pieces per week.

Would you write a hub about your experience writing your book?

Hi,How feasible is it to earn 500$ + monthly from writing on hubpages? Is it possible from ad revenue alone? Or how should one go about mastering amazon links? (I've never had much luck with that aspect)Any tips/suggestions?I enjoy writing and my favorite niches are food, gardening, travel and...

I was just curious for those of you who write for Medium and/or Substack, how your earnings compare to what you make on Hubpages. Do you think it's worthwhile writing for these sites? I look forward to everyone's insight. Thank you.

The Medium platform sounds great. Writers' income does not come from advertising (yay!) but from a chunk of the membership fees. But here is the catch: As a non paid up member you are only allowed to read three articles per month for free. After that, if you are interested in a topic and want...

So I've been on Medium for a year and Hubpages for six years (my second time). I've come to the conclusion that they can benefit each other.I have twice now earned quite a bit more on hubpages as a result of an article on Medium. A few days ago, I posted a link to one one of my hubpage articles,...

As we continue to improve reader experience and traffic to our sites, we’ve decided to remove author bios from each article. This moves content up on the page and allows readers to reach the answer to their query as quickly as possible. It is more important than ever to update your real...
