I try to as it helps me feel relaxed, yet energetic, especially when I do what I call "walking meditations" where I focus on taking deep breaths during my walk, and meditate on the sky, ocean, gardens, etc. During those walks in nature, I'm filling up on nature's bounty, feeding all my senses and thanking God for the abundance of beauty that surrounds me. This is a great antidote to anxiety and depression, two things which I've suffered from in the past and which run in my family. I consider meditation a self-care practice that helps prevent relapse, and also a path to great joy.

I know there are many out there who have tried meditation one or two times, and felt that it wasn't working. I also know of many others who have even given up to a week to practicing meditation, only to miss any strong indications of results. I... read more

Absolutely, there are so many benefits it's hard to know where to start without getting too long-winded.

I find it helps me reconnect with my source - to feel that "connectedness" to others as well.

It clears my mind of racing thoughts and clutter - which allows me to see answers to my questions more clearly.  It also gives my mind room to "open up" to new possibilities and opportunities.

It relaxes and soothes body, mind, and spirit

It ensures I take time for myself and allow myself to be a priority in my life - which leads of course to being healthier and happier smile

I generally practice daily along with an hour and a half of yoga, which in itself is a meditative process.

It gives me great clarity and peace of mind which allows me to really just be! Throughout my waking hours I go for long periods in a state of complete inner peace free from uncontrolled thoughts, worries or anxieties which is wonderful.

And as ChristinS said it allows you to be open to all the boundless possibilities in this lifetime by freeing the mind of clutter. I feel very fortunate that my mind is clutter free!

Meditation helps me a lot in gaining concentration. Some time a lot of thoughts rush on mind where i cant conclude and decide any thing. It controls thought flow , refreshes and re-energizes my day. Its not a one day process, it comes through practice for some time.

I don't do "organized" meditation too often, outside of sometimes on my break at work or when I'm in kind of a funk.  Normally, I just take a few seconds to focus only on my breath and my energy, and that usually does the trick.  I do spontaneous "energy manipulation" meditations, though that's something else entirely.  I can only assume that constant meditation would prove increasingly beneficial

I practiced Yoga for years and was a teacher myself. I liked to do it as soon as I woke up. It´s called Dhyana. You begin with Prathyahara, with is the abstraction of your senses (that is: ignore your surroundings and pay attention to yourself). Then you can do Dhyana.

In the long run, it gave me the ability to concentrate better and absorb information. I had my memory increased by an order of magnitude, never got angry with anything. It is wonderful. I may write a hub about it in the future. Answering this question got my juices flowing. Thank you.

I don't know if it's meditation or not, but my son has Autism and dealing with some of the day to day things with him are very fusterating sometimes. I find myself taking a step back, closing my eyes, and taking some deep, calming breaths. Normaly after that I can think more clearly and calmly and explain things better to him where he can understand.

I'm trying to practice meditation every day. It helps me to refresh mind. In my case, meditation is good source of silence and mine of good ideas - for example HUB Ideas ;-)

I meditate during my daily walking.  I'm able to focus on writing concepts in my head in a zen like state.  It just happens.  For me, this is a stress free and also provides my daily exercise.  I thoroughly value this daily activity...  And never miss a day.

No. I wish I had a desire to do it consistently. I had a long period of time where I did and I was so much more calm. I find I am more likely to be consistent in a group, any kind. I did kundalini yoga for a few weeks...just going once a week I found the most relaxed and calm place I have ever been. I do believe that everybody has their own way of meditating that is best for them. Just walking everyday or swimming or some conscious form of exercise gives me a similar calm. Hope you find your 'calm' way...

Yes, I began meditating daily a little while ago.  I find that it has helped me to stay focused on the positive aspects of life and it also helps to keep me focused on the present moment instead of worrying about the past or future.
