Do you think its stupid for people to get tattoos of their boyfriend/girlfriends name?
Is it a good idea to get a permanent reminder of somebody who may not be a permanent part of your life.
Probably, yes, not too smart, tattoos are not always easy to remove as the situation could always change, you could part ways. Why would anybody want to mark up their bodies like that anyway?
The invisible have become visible in that person's life that is in their heart to share with the world. There is better ways of sharing that information such as the internet but it is their free will and they have to live with the results of it. What you sow is what you reap. Be careful of what you are sowing in your life on the earth.
If someone truly feels the need to mark themselves with a permanent reminder of someone, it's better to get a picture that can also be associated to something else in your life. Or, write it in japanese and then you can lie and say it's something to everyone but the people who can read it. I think the only names that should be branded on your body should be those of family, be it a child, brother, sister, mom.... and so on. It is ok to remember loved ones lost who are not related but again, stick with a symbol, picture or something that is merely a reminder of a great moment. My sister's husband, who was like my brother passed of leukemia. We did not stamp his name, instead we got the chinese symbols for faith hope and love because that was what was read at his funeral. It was what he wanted us to remember him by and by doing things like that, we honor those we love more than stamping a name that may later on have to be covered up.
I agree with you. I think after a couple good years of marital bed happy happy times, perhaps a tattoo would be okay though.
Totally idiotic! It only makes sense if you're drunk and in Vegas. But in full consciousness? Deciding to paint your body with a boyfriend or girlfriend's name?
I can understand tattooing your child's name. That I can live with.
Yes, it is very stupid. It's stupid even if you marry them. You never know what life is going to throw at you. You may break up or divorce, and they'll never be involved with you again, and then you'll just have a constant reminder etched in your skin of that person and a permanent reminder of why you split up.
Take Johnny Depp for instance. When he was engaged to Winona Ryder, he had her name tattooed on his arm (Winona Forever). After they split, he had to spend the extra money (even though he as an actor can afford that kind of work, but that's not the point) to get it fixed to say "Wino Forever". Now he gets asked about the tattoo by fans and interviewers, and even with the edit, it probably brings up memories of Winona he would prefer not to think about often.
That's all a tattoo is. A permanent reminder. And if not a reminder, it's still permanent, and you may decide you hate it one day, and then not have the funds to have it removed. Tattoos are a huge decision, period, and should be VERY carefully thought out before any decisions are made about getting one.
I don't like the idea at all, it doesn't make any sense to me.
a good friend of mine is a tattoo artist and he tries to talk people out of getting tats with the name of girlfriends and boyfriends. to me , it's a dumb idea and most people end up regretting it.
Yes, it's stupid, gosh you can end up wanting nothing to do with a former girlfriend or boyfriend. If you must get a name tattoo'd save it for the person you marry (or your childrens names).
It is probably one of the most stupidest thing anyone could ever do because things can happen so fast - One day you are madly in love, the next you hate each other and hope they die. These people do not think at all if they get a tattoo of their bf or gf
I hesitate to use the word stupid, but I do think it is unwise. Tattoos of any kind (to me) are unwise. They only look good for a few years, then the pigment fades and changes. Our likes and dislikes change so why do something permanent?
Maybe just my thoughts but i find it to be the stupidest thing to do.
Oh come on, it is rather romantic, isn't it!?
If you just know that a certain person is the one then why not..? It is a very sweet, yet commital gesture!
I think its the most stupid thing to do. When you are not even sure of where the relationship is headed. We have seen best of relationships crashing how much more a boyfriend/girlfriend. Its dumb!
It is not a good idea, to get a tattoo at all, let alone of a boyfriend/girlfriend, someone who is not guaranteed to always be in your life. Marriage would be an alright gesture to get a tattoo, but I am not one for tattoos altogether. I do not understand the point of "body art" and I find tattoos to be rather unoriginal, cliche, and pointless. Perhaps some of those new easily removable tattoos are more appropriate, but the ones you get now, are permanent, and take years off of your life. So I would say this this especially, a very, very stupid idea, and to tattoos altogether, I do not approve. I can be tolerant, I would just never get one myself.
I would not do it. But, people do all the time. Whatever tattoo you get, you should think about it cause it is a pain to get it removed.
You come into this world alone..and go alone.. tattoo ur own name!! Much better option!!
But thinkin otherwise..its cute..but life is not stable..nothing else.
