I'm watching all these corny college movies (cos my baby cousin is around, and that's all she likes)...and its so full of loser type of guys who're so pathetic that their girlfriends dump them to be with other women...Forgive me, but perhaps its my African background that puts this way beyond me! But pls just indulge me; how does this even begin to happen...what wrong would the guy EVEN be doing for pete's sake!!! How the hell does a guy lose his girl to a woman...HOW THE F@*#!!!

being broke, i haven't made it to the movies for a while, so I'm not sure what exactly your talking about, but there's a huge misconception in these movies, so it sounds, and that is that bad behavior by a man or woman to their significant other could make that significant other change sexual preference...I suppose it depends on where you are on the whole choice or not situation, but I don't believe it is a choice.  Even if it were a choice, it would be incredibly stupid that the actions of a few men and/or women would cause a person to abandon that gender completely.  Maybe go bi, but seriously, I agree, these movies sound pretty stupid.  I've been hurt by a lot of guys and, except for a time in high school when I wondered if the reason I couldn't get a date was cause I was gay and didn't know it (i decided I was definitely strait and haven't had any doubts since), I have never entertained the concept that I should just "switch teams".

I guess it is typical of American college movies, sex and more thinking about sex and now it seems the boys have come out of the closet, so it is time for the girls to do the same! smile
Releasing their repressed homosexuality I reckon. lol

Ahh..I see I have chosen the precise right moment to come back for a visit to the forum page!

Okay, there's two questions/things happening here.
    1. Why is the theme of so many movies that so many guys are losers and all girls are bi-sexual? Answer: Because Hollywood and, by extension the male viewing audience between 16 and 30, think this funny and/or hot. Notice the chicks in these movies are all cute...no fat, ugly lesbians, etc. That would not be hot!

    2. I think the other question is why would a girl leave a guy for another girl... That one's easy. She IS gay or bi-sexual and now that society has changed so much as to make it acceptable (especially for females) to explore their sexuality in this way, there are less inhibitions to doing so. I think it goes to show that most people are in that gray area on the Kinsey Scale, way more than most would admit, and, when the social barriers are removed, these people are free to explore.

Again, the whole "trying out being gay" revolution is mainly been for young ladies because the societal stigma of this behavior has lessened so much in recent years. Young men still just have to be either gay or straight and stick with it, basically, or risk being ostracize by both sides.

I was going to say soemthign like this. Well said!! College movies do not depict real life. Its just ..sex sells....and lots and lots and lots of guys I know think lesbians are sexy. (But only if they are wearing tight white t-shirts while having a spontaneous whipped cream/water fight.) And girls think that they have to go along with it or be "prudes", no body wants to be a prude!! In real out of the movies life, I have never met a gay person who became that way because of a bad bf/gf.
