Yes i have experienced. But after that I realized that it is very difficult to be fair sometimes. It might need practice to make a correct judgement about someone because sometimes our deep rooted thinking patterns compel us to think in a specific manner.
Yes i have. However it's very important to not get agitated at the prejudiced ones, its far more important to educate them.
Yes, I worked with a Pakistani once , he kept calling me and my white colleagues, white b*****s, until his fellow countrymen took him out the back and turned him over, the last I heard of him, they had put him on plane for home, anyway, he was never seen at the factory again.
Yes. Many times in fact. However it's important to leave your anger or resentment with that particular individual and not become upset with their whole race or nationality. No one person speaks for all of their people.
Not even their head of state... sigh lol.
Some individuals or groups experience prejudice and discrimination for one or two reasons. Unfortunately, I have experienced both for several reasons, since I was 5 years old - and race is nowhere near the top of the list. read more
Many, many times! It just shows me how some choose to be surface and assume...
Yes, but to be clear, prejudice is a very different thing than racism. A prejudice is a pre-judgment based on past experiences or a constructed, experienced based belief system. For example, let’s say you have purchased three used cars and in each case the used car salesman turned out to be a lying jerk. When you are ready to buy your fourth car, you may carry a prejudice towards the salesman even though he has done you no wrong. If you then have a great experience with that salesman, you will leave thinking well of him. Prejudice is a logical approach to thinking and is an appropriate defensive response, racism, however, is an emotional belief system with no actual reasonable basis. Prejudice is not an immoral approach to thinking, while racism is.
Daily -- and believe it or not it's not because of my Native American heritage -- old people are subjected to prejudice every day. Rather than being judged as an individual after a certain age you're just considered "washed up and unable" which is a fallacy. If you disagree with anyone on anything it's because you're "old" and out of the loop not because you have a legitimate complaint or refuse to be run over. I find "the old age" prejudice very difficult to deal with but just bite my tongue and go on -- fact is, everyone (with any luck at all) will be old someday and what goes around comes around. I wish the ageing in this country good luck as many of our younger citizens consider us dead weight and ignorant. Most of us still have a great deal to offer this society -- given the chance!
Sometimes I think the young do this because those who are aging are a physical conscience. A reminder that Time and Death will come for them. The current culture likes to go on in a fashion that ignores this fact.
Yes, many times. As a pagan, I'm a huge target for clergy and christians. It's rather frustrating really, but I refuse to hide who I am.
lol that is only because Christians are another form of pagan on the whole. Trying to get Christians to agree on the physicality and form of their God is hopeless. Usually they believe in a God just distant enough to not see their faults.
Oh yeah! Un-fortunally this is the kind of thing that I am afraid it will never change.
Yes. As a blind man I experience a lot of prejudice from people who assume blindness is a mental defect and that I am totally helpless.
Several people commented when I gained my degree, "But you are blind?" and were doubly shocked when I also got honors on that degree.
Only this week a colleague has been angered because I have been on a stand by list for jury duty. Their reason, a blind person should not be allowed to sit in judgement on a sighted one.
But I just laughed. After all Justice herself is supposed to be blind.
