How much time do you commit to writing and is that daily or weekly?
What time of day do you write? Is it in the early morning before you go to work (if you have a day job), during the day, or late at night? Lastly, outside of writing being a passion, who or what encourages you to do so?
I'm driven. When I'm working on an article, it can be pretty much 24/7. My intuition will wake me in the middle of sleep and I will come in and type something that I have just made a connection with. Sometimes I'm only getting by with about 4-5 hours of sleep a day to finish a compelling article.
My topics are interesting, riveting.
It is sometimes more fun to crank through hours, days, weeks, months of research to be able to pull together a compelling article that informs the public about very important technological break throughs, etc...
----------
Who encourages me to do this?
Hmmmm... no one.
Writing can sometimes be a very thank-less type sport.
However, it just depends on your commitment to get the story out.
Some stories are worth losing sleep over... I've been lucky enough to hit on a few topics that are really great challenges and that I truly love exploring!
Lately, between one and three hours daily, though I wish it were much much more. I am a public school teacher, so my writing happens late at night after the rest of my family has gone to bed. While writing is a passion, it is more so now because I am working on trying to justify writing as a secondary source of income so I don't have to spend my summers flipping burgers or working the customer service counter--highly motivating, I must say.
As a retired person with an income, I write whenever I can. When I’m working on a novel, and I take breaks from my manuscript, I usually try to catch up on giving support to those Hubbers who have been generous and kind enough to follow me. I do this by making comments about their hubs or questions. What encourages me to write is simply my motivation to express myself and to create something new.
I work and have a young family, so I don't get to spend as much time writing as I would like to. I do write for an hour every day, usually at night time (around 10pm) when the house is quiet and my daughter is in bed.
My partner encourages me to write, as he knows how much I enjoy it. I just wish I had more time available in the day to do so.
Actually, I write when I have the idea about what to write. Time does not matter.
I'm lucky enough to be able to set my own schedule, so most days I'm able to write for 3 or 4 hours in the morning. I do need to make sure that I get to my writing time first thing though, because other chores and commitments do tend to barge in quickly if I'm not careful.
Depends, I have a home-based company, and the job comes first. When I plan to write a hub, I do the research first and save the notes I want to my documents, then I find the photos I plan to use and save those. When I start to write the Hub, I stay with it until it is written and published - this can be from 2 - 5 hours. I do not like to stop and loose the momentum.
when the sesative hits, which seems to happen after having several brains farts. Typically my brain goes dead few hours a week. This means that I prob dedicate 15-20 hours. Then of course my brain wonders of into the pit of dispair.
I use to write daily, sometimes start them during the morning during my coffee and finish them throughout my day When I first joined and now almost three years later I am trying to get the energy back as it became monthly at night. I love knowing I am helping people all over the world even while I sleep since its published on the internet.
Daily, unless the powers that be have bled me dry. A writer writes. lily
I am not a morning person.
I write at different times of the day.
As Ray Bradbury put it, “You must stay drunk on writing so reality cannot destroy you.”— Ray Bradbury, Zen in the Art of Writing.
That sums it up for me.
It really depends on time availability and inspiration...when nothing comes out i don't write anything...i'll just wait for an idea to sink in...

When is the best time of day for you and your writing?Does your writing come most in the morning or evening? What is the setting that is most conducive to writing in your experience?

What is your favorite time of day or night to write? Is there a certain time of day when the words flow better for you? Mine is usually sunrise or sunset or really late at night.

I don't just mean hubpages, though that counts, too. I mean when you feel that creative urge and you want to sit down and let the language flow until something beautiful comes out, whether it's a short story, a bit of a novel, a poem or, yes, a hub.

Are there specific time you write? If so, why?

So, evidently this was booted off the questions, and thus I repeat it here: does anyone else get up in the middle of the night to write?

Do you have a specific time of day that you write hubs?My times vary, sometimes in the morning or late at night... when I get an idea I often go with it. What about you?
